Where were you when you went in to labour?

And/or what were you doing?

With DD I was supposed to be being induced but in the end she decided to come without encouragement but fairly speedily, so it was just as well I was in hospital already!

Am now 36+3 with #2 and wondering how s/he will make his/her appearance, especially having dreamt last night that I was in labour!

DD1 -standing on weighing machine at GP surgery , my waters went . With a huge gush , I might add. Soaked everything in sight .Everyone got very excited and wanted to call an ambulance .GP insisted on checking it was amniotic fluid (a sort of dip stick test) .. though he did say if it wasn't I must have awful bladder problems. I promised I'd drive home very slowly and carefully (no contractions, and it wasn't far) so they let me out of there . I think they found me a sanitary towel too.

I was taken into hospital to be induced on the Sunday night, Monday night nothing, so was induced again on the Tuesday and still nothing, it was decided that I would have a C-section but I asked them to try and induce me once more on the Wednesday and still nothing, I was walking around to try and help it. In the end the midwives were likening me to Rachel from friends as people were coming in to be induced and going off to have their babies, but not me, mine was being stubborn! In the end I had him by C-section on the Friday 15 days late! I never even experienced a contraction in any form......

Saturday night, in the cinema, watching skyfall. Well that's when contractions started. Waters broke 2am monday morning. Born 5pm Monday.

Hoping for a speedier time this time but definitely going to give the Daniel Craig effect a go.

in bed 5am
in bed 12.30 am
trickle which woke me up both times, followed by first contraction a few mn later
not the Niagara falls I was expecting, having listened to my Mum recalling her 2 labours many times ( sounded like a tidal wave, so I had plastic sheeting on my side of the bed both times, thinking it would run in the family)

DD = another 5am waters breaking, although I was on the sofa, luckily with an old duvet under me (had a week of false labour so was waiting for it)

DS1 = 10pm at home when I realised that the weird feeling I'd had all day (like sudden little rushes of dopamine/adrenaline/endorphins/some brain chemical) was in fact labour

DS2 = planned C-section at 41+3. Actually had a show the morning I went in but didn't want to tell them in case they made me push the lazy toad out! Had had two forceps and ventouse births and various issues in the nether regions, hence the c-section.

In bed at 37+1. I went to bed the night before, 37 weeks and had just finished getting prepared and out cot up etc. Was fed up and said "ok, you can come now". Woke up at 8am the next morning thinking I was wetting myself. Wasn't as much as I was expecting - turns out it was my hind waters and the midwife broke my forewaters by accident when examining me. Now THAT was what I was expecting. The jet hit her in the face and flooded the bed and floor Grin (I had gone from 8 stone to 12 stone in pregnancy and hadn't gained any fat - it was all baby and fluids)

Hospital - went in to check whether my Waters had broken (they had) and they were still deciding what to do with me (I was 36+1, so pre-term). I went into labour whilst sorting out parking (I had only paid for three hours, thinking I'd go home that night)... labour came on fast and furious (no settling in period... contractions were five minutes apart the first time I used my contraction log app!) and by the time I was back on the ward, I head to lean on the reception desk to breeeath. Cue the cow behind the counter asking me what's wrong... had she forgotten where she was working? Never mind, baby arrived four hours later...

I was in the park when my waters went. Had been wandering around with my sis-in-law as I knew something was going on... had a show the day before and mild cramps all morning.

We walked back via the chemist to get pads. I went in with her at first but had to leave quickly as I didn't want them to go on the floor. There was more than a trickle and it was quite a walk home.

In the GP's office, during a midwife appointment, 3 days before my due date, 10 seconds into a sweep.

I felt them go and I told the midwife they had just gone. She didn't believe me. She removed her hand and they EXPLODED all over the office. They even pooled in her shoes haha!

I had to waddle back out with 2 folded over bed pads in my sopping wet jeans. There were two other heavily pregnant women in the waiting room who didn't look to anxious to see the midwife after I walked past!!

First proper contraction was in the car, on the way to being induced at the hospital. DH was paranoid that my waters would go on the car upholstery but luckily that didn't happen until I was safely on the ward!

The first time I was in the house and had a show late afternoon then contractions started an hour later.
Second time I knew in the morning I was going into labour soon, no idea why. Had a show in afternoon at home and contractions started a few hours later in the evening. X
