Another thread for the lovely ladies who are pregnant after miscarriage :)

Ah I didn't realise you had an anterior placenta sunbathing, yep it's much harder to locate body parts when the placenta is that way round. It probably is her back you can feel which would explain why you don't feel her much as she's probably kicking into your back or downwards. Are you worried about movements or is it normal for her? I didn't have an anterior placenta last time so I'm not totally clued up on what the movements would be like with one.

They will phone me by 5pm tomorrow if I have gestational diabetes.

I also have an anterior placenta Sunbathing and I have no idea if I'm feeling a foot, hand etc. Can most people tell the difference then? When I had a private scan at 26 weeks, she was moving throughout, but I only felt three 'pops' the whole time.

Got everything crossed for your gtt results small. I took your advice and haven't had much sugar since lunchtime yesterday as I've got mw appt at 4pm today! No way I want to get tested again.

It's really interesting this talk of breech/knowing what position baby is in. I will be doing everything I can to get another natural birth but ultimately baby calls the shots so if s/he happens to be breech, I shall have to accept that a planned section is the only way. Urgh, just don't fancy all that surgery and recovery though. And six weeks of no driving, being careful with picking things up etc...no thanks! I am going to speak to my mw today about what our local Trust policies are and what they'd do if I present breech at whatever week the crucial appt is. Just good to be prepared I reckon.

Treaclepie19 · 21/04/2015 07:56

Fingers crossed for you small.

I have a meeting with work today about going back (been signed off since 5 weeks pregnant).
I'm so nervous.

Broody or anyone else, if you do have to have a c-section for breech it will be elective like mine and it really wasn't that bad. It was annoying not being able to drive but I was up and about really quickly and recovery was great. Obviously it's not the ideal option but it's not awful either.

Boozle80 · 21/04/2015 09:24

My consultant has said the same as mini Boozle is transverse. I'm only 29 weeks though so I've said they're not allowed to try to turn he or she until much later on. They seem very keen but I think it's way too early. Does anyone know what a massive stomach might mean? The baby's tummy is measuring huge - I had the GD test and it's not that and don't see the consultant for another few weeks, they seemed very concerned - I thought the baby had just troughed too much but it's started playing on my mind. It could be the heparin encouraging too much to go through the placenta and the baby eating too much but that's a personal theory not backed up by anything!

HariboBrenshnio · 21/04/2015 10:47

I was driving 2 weeks after my elective section (my insurance said the 6 week rule is a bit of a myth) only stayed in hospital a night and was up and about the next day. I had to take painkillers for about 3 weeks but the recovery was fine really. Just felt like I had to hold my stitches when I went to the loo!

Iv booked a reassurance scan for May 17th. It's a few days after the last baby stopped growing so I'll be 9+3. I thought about a 7/8 week scan but I don't think It'l be reassuring enough, I'll still worry about that 9 week mark.

Mslad · 21/04/2015 11:23

Haribo I felt the same as you about my reassurance scan. I waited until 9+3 as I knew a scan at 7/8 weeks wouldn't help ease my mind. The 9 week scan really did help (for a while at least).

good luck today small I hope your test is clear, and treacle - hope your work don't give you any shit! Smile

boozle and tori my little one is also up there in the 95% stomach size, and once my gd was clear they don't seem too concerned- I think she's just a big baby.

good to hear that most of you had positive c-section experiences. I haven't really given any thought to the recovery period, I'm just terrified of the thought of being in a theater, wide awake while the cut you open Shock

Treaclepie19 · 21/04/2015 11:26

Same as both of you, I miscarried at 8+3 last time so this time waited til 9+5 for our private scan.

Thanks sunbathing and mslad, I'm sure they will be vile but I'm trying to think it will all be over in 3ish hours.

OP posts:
Mslad · 21/04/2015 11:47

Really treacle will they be vile? Surely they have no grounds, you were off sick? ......though I know work can still be horrible even if they have no rights to be. That's a good approach, just try to zone out and remind yourself that it'll be over soon.

Treaclepie19 · 21/04/2015 12:28

Yeah, they don't believe im ill with stress they think I'm making it up to be put back in my old role. (The new role, a different class was too stressful when I'd just found out I was pregnant, I can't see how I can do the job properly when I'm that stressed but work can't see how it's any different)
My union rep is coming and they will have HR with them. It's all a bit nasty really :(

SomeSortOfDeliciousBiscuit · 21/04/2015 13:11

I hope it's not as bad as your fearing, Treacle, or if it is, that they mess up enough that you can do something about it, if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately I know first hand how odd some employers get over being off ill during pregnancy. My old manager actually showed up and walked into my house while I was signed off with hyperemesis and stress. We'd left the front door open for the cat and he pushed his way in and found me lying on the sofa next to a sick bucket. He didn't believe I was 'really ill', apparently. Confused I never took it any further formally but wrote him a letter that spelled out exactly what I was going through (incredibly anxious after my TOP and worried it would all go wrong again) and got a sincere apology. We got on quite well after that. Smile

Has anyone had to have an ECG trace and a heart echo? I had a consultant appointment yesterday and I need both. The trace because of how often I'm getting palpitations and ectopic beats, and the echo because one of the chemo drugs I had can cause long-term heart problems, plus my radiotherapy was on my left breast and it was impossible to avoid some of my heart being caught in the field. I'm not too worried because I've had no worrying symptoms and I have a family history of ectopic beats.

I had an anterior placenta last time and couldn't really feel movements. DS was massive, so I don't think he had that much room to do big movements anyway! I don't think I have one this time as I've already felt the baby do a massive lurch from left to right. I know it was the baby as I was lying down and watching my little bump go from being all up on the left, to all up on the right! It will be interesting to see if I'm right.

SomeSortOfDeliciousBiscuit · 21/04/2015 13:12

God, I'm rambling on so much I'm annoying myself. I had a coffee this morning and it shows.

Thepurplegiraffe · 21/04/2015 13:16

The only measurement that was way above average at my 20 week scan was baby's tummy but the sonographer didn't seem at all concerned and seemed to think it could be down to position.

Haribo that was when I had my scan too and I thought it was a really good time. Not too long before 12 weeks to start worrying again and much better chances of it staying good after that date.

Hope the meeting goes ok Treacle.

Thepurplegiraffe · 21/04/2015 13:19

Meant to say for Mslad I think the idea of c-section (elective at least) is a lot more scary than the actual event. Everyone was so calm and chatty that they really put me at my ease and DH and I just talked about all the food I would be able to eat again until baby arrived.

thesmallbear · 21/04/2015 13:35

Hi all, just on a quick lunch break so can't write too much.

I hope work are understanding and compassionate Treacle.

I haven't heard from the hospital as yet, so fingers crossed that everything is ok. If they haven't called me by 5pm, then no news is good news.

Metalhead · 21/04/2015 13:49

Just got a call from my GP to say he's got me an appointment for an early scan this Thursday - eek! I'll only be 6+6 then so still very early on (and ideally I'd have liked one nearer 8 weeks), but my last bean stopped growing at 6+2 so at least this will be a step further along if everything looks ok.

Sorry your work are being so rubbish treacle.

thesmallbear · 21/04/2015 18:36

Glad you've got your reassurance scan sorted Metal.

Well I haven't and a phone call from the hospital, so I obviously don't have gestational diabetes. Does anyone have any ideas as to why my wee keeps having sugar in it when I'm not diabetic? Is it just my body's way of getting rid of the sugar? I will try and eat less sugar, but I'm not going to cut it out completely if I'm not diabetic. My cousin is pregnant and drinks coke all day and her wee is fine. I don't drink fizzy drinks, mainly water. The odd cake every now and then, but don't we all! I guess my body is just being weird.

Good luck on Thursday metal! I think you'll get a good feeling from the scan if things are ok or not. everything crossed for you and bean Smile

How did you get on treacle? somesort I can't believe your manager called to your house to spy on you! Surely once you're signed off by a doctor that's all they need to know?! Madness!

I don't know too much about having to have a heart trace and echo - but really hope it goes ok. A very good friend of mine had an echo during pregnancy due to radiation treatment and everything was fine, so I know it can be nothing to worry about (if not worrying is possible!)

Any gd news small?

purple I absolutely love your dh's talk therapy!! I'm going to pass that on to dp, and if it gets really bad we can start a wine chant Smile Wine Cake
