Just found out I'm pregnant last week So I'm now 5-6 weeks. Been having mild, period type cramps ever since then which I understand is fairly normal. Also been feelig bloated and tender around my stomach like I've got an inflatable ball inside me under my ribs. Also feeling a bit faint and light headed. Is all of this normal? How long will this last? Should I check with the doctor? (No bleeding or anything).

Hi there! I had a mc 3 yrs ago at nearly 12 wks - found the loss really traumatic and only recently decided we were ready to try again. Found out I am pg again - 4 1/2 wks but have been experiencing backache and stomach pains - Is this normal? So worried something is not right. Asked the dr about early scans to reassure but was told there's no such thing available!

Could be 4 to 8 weeks pregnant, not having had a regular cycle for years its hard to tell! anyway i have back ache and tummy ache but only one sided, went to the hospital and scan booked for monday but worrying so much until then, cant eat, sleep or indeed be positive about anything. Had blood done and called for result today only to be told they are ok??? what does this mean. doc prewarned because of pain i could have ectopic preg, but surely he could tell by internal? so sorry for going on!!

Hi Discodolly100
I am also 5-6 weeks and experiencing the same symptoms. I was a bit worried about the pains in the tummy, but from all the above posts, we can be rest assured that it is normal. I also from week 2 experienced dizziness. Even in week 5 it still comes and goes. My rib pain is only occasional. I too feel like I have an inflatable ball inside me. My stomach is also very tender.Hope this helps. Take care.

Ihad period pains and cramps for weeks this time round and also spotting and everything was fine (I'm 26wks now)

I suppose there is a risk of ectopic PG but you would have quite severe pain.

I too had tenderness.

Hi, i think these r normal symptoms, from what iv read etc...the pains r ment to be your body changing getting ready for your baby to grow.just try keep calm.if it gets any worse go see your doctor. hope that helps you

hi mummies

just wanted to say to all the ladies out there that i've read alot on websites & in books that cramps/pains in early pregnancy are totaly normal... they're due to the fact that even though you baby is so tiny, your body's muscles are already starting to expand to make room for your baby to grow. i'm actually thankful for any symptoms i can get... i had a m'c at about 6 weeks in July just gone but didn't have any symptoms except sore breasts. this time round (i'm neary 5 weeks) i've got very sore tummy, trapped wind, tiredness, morning sickness (at night) and diarrhea (all totally normal) it makes me have a bit more hope that this time round everything will be ok. good luck to all of the worried mummies out there, i'm sure you'll all be fine.

hi mummymyres

thanks for that information it puts my mind at rest. i think some of us are totaly panacing over nothing but i think it cant be helped!! i have decided to just take it day by day and what will be will be. m/c runs in my family think that was what i was worrying about. if its meant to be its meant to be i am just going to enjoy everyday as it comes now.

hi mumnsprog.

im sure you will be fine but if u feel like you need to call your doctor then you should, but only to put ur mind at rest as i am sure its usual pains. i am pregnant with my second and i am the same every twinge so it isnt any easier lol. i am sure these are the same pains as the majority of women on here are experiencing but if you feel worried then call ur docs as that is what they are here for, hope this helps a little.

I am 5wks3days pregnant and I'm getting quite anxious about any aches and pains that I'm experiencing. I have abdominal cramps (like period pain - bearing in mind that my ppain is usually very sore - or maybe low pain threshold). I also have a sore back and noticing shooting pains down my legs. I'm going to go to the doctor tomo evening because I am scared that it might be an eptopicPreg! Has anyone had these symptoms before?

Hi Jules
Try not to worry I had really bad pains up until about 9 weeks in fact I didn't take a pregnancy test till I was 7 weeks as for weeks I just thought I was about to start my period(came off the pill to get pregnant and periods were still irregular)It is normal from my limited experience and will get easier your body is changing a lot and even this early your womb is growing considerably to what it was before you were pregnant. I mentored a 16 year old who smoked and drank through her pregnancy and she experienced a lot of spotting at 8-10 weeks we rushed her to the midwife a lot but the midwife said it was perfectly normal although I have had no spotting so far in my pregnancy at 12 weeks.
I can't offer any other advice except enjoy it and try not to worry I understand your concern buteveryone is different and these signs are normal. If you are concerned go to a midwife that is what they are foe and better to be safe than sorry.
I have started getting pains again after an easy 3-4 weeks off but I've been told its normal but if it gets worse I will be the first to pester my midwife
Goodluck and I hope it goes well
