I am 7 weeks 2 days pregnant and have my first early scan tomorrow for a heartbeat (or beats they put two back!).

I have generally been feeling pregnant, cramps, very tired, boobs have got bigger and hurt plus a little bit of nausea when I wake and constant trips to the toilet but even with all these symptoms I am still worried about the scan tomorrow that there won't be anything there or no heartbeat.

Can anyone give me some guidance on what to expect at the scan tomorrow please (plus some sucess stories!) thanks x

It was a 10 week scan Verkey with my private clinic. I see my GP for the first time next Tuesday (I will then be 12 weeks) and the nurse said at the clinic they should do a 12 week scan that week at the hospital.

Good luck today Toes, thinking of you x

Hi everyone. Well I had my 7 week scan today and it was great! We have one little bean in there measuring the right size and with a good little heartbeat. very exciting Smile So relieved!

No I was 11 weeks yesterday, in one way it has dragged but then the fact I will be at the end of my first trimester at the end of next week makes it feel like it has gone quickly!

The 10 week scan was amazing it looks like an actual baby now and was bouncing around in the womb like crazy! So lovely to see and of course re-assuring.

How are you doing? x

So glad scans are going well. I'm nervously awaiting mine next Tuesday when I'll be 7w3ds. Worrying myself that I've pretty much no symptoms.

whittlefish · 17/03/2015 20:05

fab glad your scan went well and everything was ok.

mrswishywashy don't worry about having no symptoms lots of people don't and have perfectly normal pregnancies. I didn't have any real symptoms apart from exhaustion until about 9 weeks then the nausea kicked in so enjoy being symptom free while you can, it's by no means a bad sign.
angora and verkey hope all is good with you too?

All is good here, started to feel quite rough this week but no sickness yet! Got first midwife appt on Thursday, feels exciting now! Grin

Great news Fabuluce isn't it a fabulous feeling! He he :)

As Whittle says Mrswishywashy alot of people do not have symptoms and everything is fine. I was worried about that as all I have had is feeling exhausted, a few cramps, a few headaches and bigger boobs. No morning sickness. When I was waiting for my 10 week scan (even though we had seen the baby at the 7 week scan) I still thought there would be nothing there or the baby had stopped growing but there it was bouncing around!

Easy to say but take a deep breath and try not to worry too much, we are all thinking the worse all the time.

Good to hear you are ok Verkey you might be lucky like me and avoid the sickness the nurse said last week it is unlikely I will get it now :) Hope it all goes ok with the midwife tomorrow. Now I am discharged from my clinic I cannot wait to see the GP on Tuesday!

What fab news, I am 37 weeks with DC2 conceived through frozen embryo 2 on IVF. I remember my 7 week scan. It will be internal, like you probably had when they were monitoring your ovulation and lining of your uterus. I thought this may poke the tiny baby but they are not in any danger. And it was a magical moment when I saw the heartbeat, yes at 7 weeks. It might take them a bit to find it at first, so don't worry. I had no symptoms at that stage myself. Time has whizzed by and now I am starting to feel officially fed up and I want to meet my miracle baby.

Glad everyone is doing well. I feel awful today come down with a stinking cold but scared to take anything other than paracetamol for it. Feeling very sorry for myself and having to take more time off work which I'm worried about too as always seem to be off at the moment.
Has anyone heard from toes really hoping no news is good news?

Sorry to hear you are feeling rough Whittle - I know what you mean about taking anything I keep getting these terrible headaches and would normally go straight for the nurofen plus but have only been taking the 100% paracetamol which do nothing!

No nothing from Toes fear she did have bad news after all even though we were all rooting for her.

I am getting more and more anxious to see my GP on Tuesday when I will be 12 weeks, get sick of all this waiting!

Congratulations to Fab and mumhum Grin

I had my first midwife's appointment today, I'm now 8 weeks along; apparently I'll see the consultant more often and have more scans because it's twins, but with typical NHS efficiency they can't tell me when! My next scan will be in about a month, that's the nuchal translucency one - my next big worry (in a long list of worries!) is that there's something wrong with the babies, I might look into the Harmony test as well.

I do hope that Toes is ok and that it wasn't bad news at the scan - if nothing else I would like her to know that we're all thinking of her.

Very jealous of everyone with no sickness - I spend most of my time scoffing toast, trying to work out what to eat that won't make me feel sick, or trying not to throw up on my (so far oblivious) colleague next to me at work!

Hi I'm new to all this. I'm currently 6 week pregnant and have had some brown discharge. I'm scared to death especially after having a miscarriage at 8 weeks last year. Have a wary scan booked but on tues! Don't think I can wait that long. Anyone else had this discharge

Report
Fabuluce · 19/03/2015 19:53

Liz apparently brown gunk is par for the course with pregnancy. I haven't had any myself but I do know lots of ladies who have and had very successful pregnancies. Wishing you the best of luck.

I've booked in for my harmony test and scans at 10 and 12 weeks. I'm still on a high after my 7 week scan but suspect fear and trepidation will emerge the week before the 10 week scan on 7th April.

I've not got actual vomming happening thankfully but spend all day feeling it instead and then miraculously feel better at dinner time. I have no idea why!

toes replied on the other thread the other day. It's not great news by the looks of it, toes said the embryo stopped growing and the heartbeat they saw before has gone and they have another can next week I think :( hope it was OK to repeat this on here for you toes

Thank you for the up date verkey that's such sad news really had everything crossed for her. Sending our love to you toes.

loz as fabuluce says I think that's fairly common as long as the blood isn't bright red should be ok but if you are at all concerned call you doctor and see if they can do an early scan just to out your mind at rest

I read a terrible thing on another thread where someone was very stressed about her early pregnancy and asked repeatedly for an early scan but was told by her midwife that it could cause miscarriage!! What a load of drivel! The midwife should be reprimanded for spouting that kind of rubbish and it makes me Confused. If you have any anxiety or worry you should be referred to your local EPU who can do an internal scan or just find a private clinic and they will do one (although obviously that's not for free!).

Hi girls!! Welcome to the new members of this lovely thread!!
I happy for all of you, it seems that our little beans are doing well their job Wink.
loz even though the brownie spots are normal in many cases the doctors recommend to report it for a better assessment.
An update from me, last Friday I had my 9 week scan and we could see our jewellery, his tiny arms (it has other name at this stage) and legs and his heart beaten. The doctor said all good. So I have a new picture!! So emotional moment for us!!
On 25th I have the screening test and the first week of April at the end of week 11 I will have the nuchal test. The doctor said these tests are for everybody in London despite the age and it won't harm the baby. I didn't meet my mw yet but I had my first appointment and the mw who asked lot of questions mentioned the harmony test 95% accurate, it's expensive because the analysis is performed in The USA at the moment. We decided to wait until the result of the nuchal test and if the diagnosis is high risk we will do the harmony test.
Anyhow as usual we are talking each at a time and enjoy the pregnancy although the tiredness is my main symptom. Not that much morning sickness but I can't stand the milk anymore!! Any suggestions please?
All the best for you girls Flowers

So glad all was well at your 9 week scan gcerron its wondeful isn't it and the difference in the scans is unbelieveable! I had one at my private clinic at 7 weeks and one last week at 10 weeks.

Advice please girls I will be 12 weeks on Monday and see my gp for the first time on Tuesday as I was only discharged from my clinic last week at the 10 week scan. Any guidance on what will happen at that appointment with my gp? Also how long will I have to wait for them to book me in for my 12 week scan considering I will be 12 weeks when I see the gp?

Thanks! (More worrying and overanalysing sorry!)

gcerron do you mean advise on don't being able to drink milk or the tests?

angora I'm guessing your gp appointment will be with the midwife? I just phoned my gp first and they took my dates etc and told me to boom with the midwife. First midwife appointment was just really talking some info, took my weight and blood pressure and a urine sample. I think they book me in for some blood tests for standard stuff and then got a letter from the hospital re my scan. Not sure if will be different as you are already 12 weeks tho but def nothing to worry about.

Book the midwife even

I was told to see the GP as soon as poss by my clinic so that I could get booked in with the midwife etc as they're so busy so I have my booking in appointment scheduled in at 11 weeks. As I'm having the harmony package from a private clinic that includes a 10 week scan and a Nuchal scan at 12 weeks as well as bloods I don't need to get that done on the nhs and my GP said he would note that it was being done privately.

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and have massively gone off my morning porridge Hmm I'm gutted as I had it with banana, date and Brazil nuts so it was super healthy but now the thought of it in the morning makes me want to boak! Thankfully I haven't actually vommed yet but I feel queasy all day and then am fine in the evening. Today however in queasy AND super hungry. V confusing. All I want is carbs!

Thanks Whittle and Fab funny how all these clinics seem to be different, just got to be patient and see what I find out on Tuesday - have to keep looking at the scan of my baby to reassure myself!

Sorry to hear you are suffering from the morning sickness Fab I have been ok so far and my clinic said I have probably missed it now (sorry to rub it in!)

I am not off any foods as yet but obsessed with sweet stuff (I usually always go for savoury) yesterday I found the delight of Krispy creme doughnuts!

Ha I'm the opposite, I'm off the sweet stuff (normally I'll struggle to say no to cake!) whereas now it's all about the savoury (where are you yummy cheddar??). So long as I have a trusty ginger biscuit nearby I'm keeping the nausea mostly at bay - if I nibble on a biccie every time my mouth starts filling up with spit (nice!) then it stops it in it's tracks thankfully!

Hi girls,
anroga I suggest book the appointment with the gp tomorrow, he is going to ask you where do you want to be referred, if it's possible and in order to receive your first appointment with the midwife, ask if he can suggest that you are high risk because you are ivf pregnant or maybe he will say anyhow.
In my case I received the letter for mw within a week and I had my first mw appointment last Sunday.
The gp won't do any test just questions and bring with you a copy of the result of your previous scans.
The first mw appointment was the same as whittle blood pressure, urine sample and blood test to check the level of iron and sort of things. The result of this will be revealed in my next nw appointment. My urine test showed that I must drink more water because I was dehydrated !!
Talking about this does somebody know if drink gatorate is safe??
whittle I would like advise regarding the tests and also alternatives of milk.
Right now I am enjoying more orange and citrus, but I noticed that the milk makes me fefeel the morning sick.
Ahh the mw also recommend consume vitamin C which helps to retain the iron.
