Weight gain - 17 weeks

Morning ladies, I decided to weigh myself this morning and I am absolutely horrified. Pre-pregnancy I was 10st 12lb and I size 10.

I am 17+2 today, weighed myself and I am 12st 5lb!!

I feel mortified with myself for doing this.

This is DC3, with DC1 I put on 3 stone, with DC2 4 stone (by the end I was very big and uncomfortable)

Yesterday I decided I need to do away with the fatty bad food / takeaways, instead I had toast and fruit salad for breakfast, soup for lunch and a normal sized dinner. I was so hungry though!!

I feel so ashamed of myself, 1st 7lb on at 17 weeks is ridiculous Sad

This is my bump (last week)

Any advise greatly appreciated!

Now stop giving yourself a hard time!

Ahh thank you Smile

I'm just so worried it will get out of control again!

I have spent a lot of time worrying about weight gain!! Think it's normal. In fact I am about to post about weight loss after delivery as figure il just worry about it then!! I've stopped weighing myself, you are creating a human being, so let's go easy on ourselves!! There's enough body image pressure out there, enjoy the one time when it's healthy to gain weight - it might be the last time. Xxx

babyoven32 · 10/02/2015 09:07

And your bump is lovely!! You don't look like you weigh over 12 stone at all xxx

franksidebottom · 10/02/2015 09:09

I think you look great too. Im pregnant with no 3 at 24 weeks so far have put on 12 pounds but im only 5,1 so have really watched myself. Just cut down on the takeaways and up the fruits/vegs for snacks. Do you do any exercise. I walk at least 4-5 times a week that might make you feel more in control xx

BigCatFace · 10/02/2015 09:16

Beautiful bump! You look very slender. Try not to worry. Your body is doing what it needs.

Number3cometome · 10/02/2015 09:36

Thank you for the lovely comments, you know when it is yourself and you just feel all bulky and urgh?

Before baby I use to go to the gym a lot, I love doing weights.

But I have high blood pressure and a spinal fusion, so through fear of injury was told not to do it. I have totally slacked off the gym - the £50 a month extra in my pocket is clearly going on food Blush

At the moment all I do is walking, I walk 20 mins x 2 a day (brisk walk to the station)

I have started adding in some squats as my legs feel huge.

Ok I am not going to beat myself up too much, just cut back on the rubbish Smile

I think bumps look bigger when the mum is slim. 12 stone 5? Bulky? Pfft! You look fantastic! I'd have to cut off my legs to be anywhere near 12 stone! X

pinkie1982 · 10/02/2015 14:41

Aww I feel like you! I am 5ft and just posted somewhere else I have been at my weight watchers goal weight for 3 years, so know i am not using weighing portion controll and maybe i am eating too much pasta (seems to be all I famcy). My bump is a lot like yours and people are suprised that I am only 18w along. My regular size tops still fit and my legs on my trousers and just as they were, it's just my stomach thats massive. Had to get maternity jeans a month ago as can't do mine up.
I stopped running in Sept after my holiday (got lazy) and wish I had kept it up as I can't restart now. I am still attening my zumba class once a week but feel I am not doing enough ;(

dooberrywhatsit · 10/02/2015 15:16

I am 17 weeks and when wieghed last week have put on 8lbs - but I put it on early on for some reason? Mind you I think I am suddenly huge today! Also read that baby is now doubling in size and we now put on weight all over. Ho hum. I hadn't been doing any exercise but have just joined the leisure suite of a posh local hotel just so I can swim. Its small, WARM and lovely. I bob around with the retired folks in the mornings now!

Number3cometome · 10/02/2015 15:23

Ahh thank you, I am 5ft 4.

Might have a little google, see if I can find some yoga classes or something.

Even swimming would help I guess!

FourAndDone · 10/02/2015 17:27

I'm 16 weeks today and have gained 6kg which is approx 13.2lb I think?
6kg sounds better!!
I started at 11stones (70kg)Smile

fattymcfatfat · 10/02/2015 17:51

number im 16+6 and I put on 2 stone between getting pg and booking Blush im actually scared to weigh myself now incase I break the scales. I was big enough before at 11 stone so to be 13 at 10 weeks Shock I was horrified!

Number3cometome · 10/02/2015 20:34

Thank you for the reassurance ladies x

I'm 19 weeks today and weigh the same as before I got pregnant but I did have norovirus on top of morning sickness so lost nearly 2 stone in the early days so technically, I've gained 2 stone so far

dietcokeisgreat · 10/02/2015 21:16

22 wks and gained about 7-8 kg. saw midwife today and she said that was fine. I was a bit reassured....

BirdInTheRoom · 10/02/2015 21:45

Number3 I'm 17 weeks with DC3 too and have put on well over a stone! I haven't actually weighed myself in the last week or two as I'm scared! Put on 4 stone with each previous pregnancy and managed to lose most of it within 3 months each time and back to pre preg weight after about 6-9 months. Hopefully this will be the same!'

fattymcfatfat · 10/02/2015 22:25

if we are hoping things will.be the same as last two pregnancies I should come home from hospital in my size ten skinny jeans Grin

Number3cometome · 11/02/2015 09:35

Oh I dream of a size ten haha!

I naturally have big legs and a big bum anyway, so I fully expect them to get bigger.

I think I just worry about the weight and developing pre-eclampsia again.

My midwife has already commented my BMI was over 25 (that pissed me off!)

fattymcfatfat · 11/02/2015 09:38

mines 30....im a beast! I know what you mean about the big bum though. I was 16 amd was able to wear clothes aged 13yrs and still had a huge bum....

Number3cometome · 11/02/2015 09:42

Mine is 29.something at the moment ha!

I started at a BMI of 26, but to be fair, I don't look big with a BMI of 26, I did go to the gym a lot so wasn't actually worried about that.

I do think the ranges are wrong actually, my minimum should be 7st 10lb?
Well I was once (in a distant memory) 9st and a size 8, I looked far too slim for my frame.

Everyone is different, I don't like how they target us with BMI stuff, makes me feel shit.

fattymcfatfat · 11/02/2015 10:07

I was at my biggest when I got pregnant...I came home from hospital in a size ten after having dd, ten months later when I fell pregnant again I was a 14-16 so I knew I was big. I wondered why I couldnt shoft the weight which is how I discovered I was pregnant! Luckily with a summer baby and two other dcs I will be out at the park and swimming a lot once bump is born

Number3cometome · 11/02/2015 10:09

I hope so too! I have two other children, they are a little bit older (7+12)

I have started to be good now (not a diet, just less crap eating!)
