Faint positives but neg clear blue digi?! help

Can someone please help me. I experienced a chemical pregnancy a few months ago. I have irregular periods and my last period was 4th jan which I am now 3 days late for but have long cycles so not exactly late. I have been using a clear blue opk so I know when I ovulated this month. I have took a variety of tests and faint positive lines showed up on first response, superdrug and tesco own. I have took a clear blue digi today and it came up not pregnant :(. Whats weird is I did an opk last night it and it came up with the smiley which means peaks fertility!? Ive rang my doctors but they dont do pregnancy tests there which is weird they say if ive had faint positives then im pregnant but im just not convinced i am now 17dpo why are they so faint?! please someone help.

I got positives on First Response at 3 + 4 (so a few days before my period was due). I didn't get a positive on a Clear Blue digi until 4 + 2, so it took a while for the HCG levels to rise high enough. Don't panic, just try again in a few days.

Most doctors won't do pregnancy tests now as home testing kits are so reliable.

Thanks so much for the reply!
Im trying not to panic but now im thinking the other faint lines Iv'e received could be evap lines?! Not sure if i would get them on so many tests though.
Hopefully I will hold up and try in a few days #:)

If you're anything like me you'll be testing every day (and several times a day in my case!). I find the First Response tests the most reliable but it's nice to see the words 'pregnant' on the Clear Blue ones so I totally get why you want to use one.

emilyyyx · 08/02/2015 18:37

Yeah I am exactly the same! its sending me insane.
I might go out and get a first response again tomorrow.
Im still confused to why my OPK has shown as peak fertility?!
any ideas? x

CB digital is a lot less sensitive than First Response, so that might be the issue. Give it a few days.

GoooRooo · 08/02/2015 18:40

OPKs are a complete mystery to me. I've NEVER had a positive one, and yet this is my third pregnancy so I know that I ovulate!

crispiecrunchie · 08/02/2015 18:52

Opk tests show positive when you are pregnant! They react with the pregnancy hormone as well as the ovulation one. Lots on Google of opk showing pregnancy.
Lots of people find clear blue not very sensitive. Weirdly I've found clear blue pregnancy tests more accurate when used later in the day.

emilyyyx · 08/02/2015 19:42

omg thats made me happy!!
but if its showing on there wouldnt it show on a digital?! hmmm sorry about all the questions just dont know what to think x

Maybe try another digital tomorrow if you can afford it. Or get a couple more cheap ones you'll probably see the line getting darker!?

PrimroseEverdeen · 08/02/2015 19:55

Digital tests are not as sensitive as others. oPks also show as positive when pregnancy hormones are detected as hgc is similar to the lutenising hormone which is produced before ovulation! I had positive ovulation tests when I was actually pregnant and he is 8 months old now!

NoRoomForALittleOne · 08/02/2015 19:55

I tested with a clear blue digi at 17dpo and got a negative. When I tested with a Sainsbury's own a week later (a last resort as I felt so ill I thought I'd do one last test before going to see the GP and find out what's wrong) the 'pink' line was such a deep purpl it was almost black! DD2 is now 5yo and asleep upstairs. I've used the clear blue digis since and they always tell me that I'm less pregnant than I am.

If you take a first response test (not the digi one) then you should get a clear answer. Get a double pack and test again after a few days/week to see if the line is getting stronger.

slithytove · 08/02/2015 20:00

Digis are shit strip tests are way more sensitive,
Opks very dark when pregnant as pp said

Think you might be upduffed Wink
Can you post pics of the faint lines

slithytove · 08/02/2015 20:02

Tesco ones are seriously sensitive btw I got a bfp 10 days after ovulation with them

Gillian1980 · 08/02/2015 20:06

I got bfps with loads of other brands but bfn with clear blue digi. Took another week to get a bfp with that one for me.

emilyyyx · 08/02/2015 20:06

thanks everyone for the messages! made me slightly more hopefull.
I'll try get the pictures on here all of them are taken out of there case but the line has been shown first then i took them out to get a better picture and all the lines have appeared in the time frame.

I can see them. A line is a line Emilyyyx - you're up the duff! Grin

emilyyyx · 08/02/2015 20:19

its nice to have a second opinion to show im not going crazy and imagining them! i really do hope so! Im going to get a first response tomorrow and test again. Just worried to why my lines are so faint at 17dpo and its hard to know when to test if i dont have regular periods! x

emilyyyx · 08/02/2015 20:31

I'm struggling to see a line on the first pics. I'm usually very good at seeing squinters!

But that last pic def has a line of some sort.

emilyyyx · 08/02/2015 20:37

If im honest with you I cant see them as well when looking at them on my laptop to when im looking at the pictures on my phone and on the actual stick.. ill try upload some more to see if its just those pictures.

Just to say as well I have 3 negative clear blue digitals not anywhere near sleeping up the stairs. I have never got a positive on one of them but did on loads of cheepy tests and a boots digital although I would have been well pregnant by then.
