I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Congratulations Durham, wonderful news! I seem to have good timing as every time I pop back on someone else has given birth! I am still HG free at 29 weeks. Struggling with spd and low blood pressure- I literally can't breathe in the morning until I have had 3 cups of tea (caffeinated on doctors advice) and have fainted several times. It's a horrible feeling but I am thankful HG has gone as I would be so much worse if I was still puking everything back up. I hope everyone is coping and if not the lovely meerka and LucindaE will help. X

Meerka · 07/03/2015 09:27

durham what lovely, lovely news. So pleased for you and hettie. Hope you are recovering well and that she is getting used to this lovely big wide world =)

blueberry can you try to get some Ketostix and test your pee? I do hope you can keep some liquids down today at least. Please take it easy.

muddy nice to see you again, glad the HG has gone so that you can keep the tea down! but I hope that the SPD lightens up a bit. what an endurance test ...

LucindaE · 07/03/2015 09:32

Goodness, things have been busy.
Durham Flowers wonderful news. GrinGrin. How lovely, I hope you're feeling even better by now. So glad it's all over for you, including that nasty scare.
Skipton I'm so glad you got IV and are feeling a bit better. What meds have they got you on now?
Blueberry I'm concerned about you if they said that - surely there must have been misinformation - how dehydrated are you? I think you should take another reading and report it again if it's high, and to the GP or your consultant or who you think best and say they wouldn't admit you. How do you feel now?
MotherofPearl Great to hear from you again. I remember you well and how you suffered and I so agree you're a very brave woman. What are they like about pre-emptive meds?
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked - back soon. Hope everyone is coping.

I'm on meds LittleMiss, they just don't work! I'm on ondansetron and 2 others, have been the whole time.

My ketones are 4+ and have been for about 2 weeks, the doctors and midwives just aren't interested.

Skiptonlass · 07/03/2015 13:08

The same stuff I had before but a formulation without the caffeine and ephedrine. Tolerating it much better. Still feel a bit queasy but I have not barfed today - that's a huge thing, first day in four weeks.

Congrats to Durham and hope everyone else is resting up and feeling ok.

Skiptonlass · 07/03/2015 13:13

At 4+ they should be taking you seriously. I'm so annoyed for you - it's awful when you feel so bad and doubly awful when no one is listening. Do you have any way of getting a second opinion or seeing someone private?

BlueberryWafer · 07/03/2015 13:54

I can't afford private unfortunately. Been to see 2 different GPs and 2 midwives, I'm so tempted to just turn up at A&E I feel dreadful. I'm trying to look after my 21 month old best I can but I'm really struggling. Getting lots of lower back pain and a few tightening a but can't tell if those are down to dehydration or labour imminent.

Meerka · 07/03/2015 14:08

blueberry try ringing the preg Sickness support line above and leave a message on the answerphone asking for the doc to ring you back. Though it is weekend :/

If that fails then I would go to a and e yes.

Littlemiss20 · 07/03/2015 14:14

Try NHS 24 blueberry and ask there advise, they are pretty good and if the think you need a hospital admission the will organise it so you don't need to wait hours in A and E xx

oh buttermilk ... it could be jsut the flu, the current bug does make you feel sick I think as well but ... im afraid it's possibly the start of the sickness.

Its really good that you've got teh cyclizine and B6, do keep taking it.

if your husband works away, that's even more difficult than arranging after school care for if you become unable to do anything. Do you have any family or very good friends that could help out? its a lot to ask but it's better to plan how to handle extreme sickness now rather than later.

eallison88 · 07/03/2015 14:52

butter, Im afraid I can't reassure either way, I'm 11 wks into 1st pregnancy. I'd get yourself to the doctor and make clear that you need support and medication.

blueberry I believe they're not taking this seriously. I'd get myself to A&E if I were you.

DurhamRed · 07/03/2015 14:59

A little pic of Hettie for you :-)

nausea has now completely gone and apart from feeling shattered (long labour) I feel completely human again!

DurhamRed What a beautiful picture. I'm so glad you feel good again.
muddylettuce Thanks for lovely message.
Blueberyr I so agree with others - do go to A and E if liquids won't stay down, or phone the number above as Meerka says. There was a woman on here before with high ketones they didn't take seriously because they said it was long term starvation, not dehydration, and it seems the workings of that are complicated, but you know if you aren't taking in enough liquid and it needs to be treated asap.
Buttermilly Do feel for you and can only agree with others that getting pre-emptive meds is the best thing to do. It must be awful dreading it's striking again.
skipton I hope meds working - are you on new ones?
theboatisleaking I only just saw your message - sorry - but that is really insensitive, taking photos when you're in mid puke and I would definitely 'accidentally' aim for his shoes to be honest. It may look ridiculous from the outside, but it's hell from the inside...
Waves to eallison dillly LittleMiss20 and everyone.

Durham she is absolutely gorgeous, congratulations. Well done again! I'm glad you're feeling normal again - enjoy eating!

I feel like I'm going downhill again. Everything I try to eat results in horrid stoma cramps. Almost constant heart burn; if the heartburn rises it's a pretty good sign that I'm gonna hurl in the near future. Is there something I can speak to the doctor about getting; I feel like gaviscon isn't enough - it only has any affect for a few minutes then it quickly kicks in again. Yukity.

Meerka · 07/03/2015 15:57

durham she is gorgeous =) what a lovely littel sleepy expression!

ealli yes there are other things you can get, um, maybe someone else can remember what

Littlemiss20 · 07/03/2015 16:37

Aww lovely little one Durham makes this nightmare seem worth it in the end:).
Ealison Zantac is good not sure if you can take it when pregnant but I would try that if it's ok.
I have had a bad couple of days not managing to keep any food down now and little water unsure whether or not to go to hospital, would rather not. My partner is on the hunt for ketostix at the minute so will try check that first, just feel like I have the worst hangover ever!

eallison88 · 07/03/2015 16:50

I feel like I've been hungover for 5 weeks. I haven't had a drink for 18 months, do it feels very unfair!

LucindaE · 07/03/2015 18:26

eallison There is one on here people found really good for heartburn and I wish I remembered the name, it's so stupid of me. If I say, ranatidine, I have the feeling that isn't the one. You have to get it on prescription, but I've heard it's brilliant. You are right about it being like a hidious - and unearned - hangover.
blueberryslice How are you? I'm still really worried about those ketones if they are due to dehydration not long term starvation. How is your urine, skin dryness, etc, too. I don't want to be bossy, but you do need seeing to, and I know how hard it is to think straight as you get worse.

OP posts:
BlueberryWafer · 07/03/2015 18:29

Urine looks like lucozade, skin isn't very elastic and my lips and tongue have a white coating. Getting loads of Braxton hicks tonight, this they're more because of dehydration than labour being on its way. I'm sipping an isotonic drink at the min in the hope if a bit of that stays down it might give me some energy. Going to attempt to eat a banana too (dreading that! But need to for the baby's sake)

MotherofPearl · 07/03/2015 19:01

Just dashing on to say that the magic heartburn remedy is Ranitidine. I know lots of past sufferers on this thread swore by it. Eallison, try to get this on prescription - Gaviscon really doesn't help after a while does it?

Meerka · 07/03/2015 19:54

blueberry it's worth popping into A and E tomorrow. No harm done if it turns out to be a wasted trip. (imagine it's murder on a saturday night, though maybe if you go now you'd beat the rush?)

LucindaE · 08/03/2015 10:54

Blueberryslice You poor thing - have you popped into A and E? That lucozade urine doesn't sound good, nor the dry skin, so agree with Meerka.
MotherofPearl Ah, thanks so much = so it was 'ranatadine'. Well, a laugh on here needed, so I was scar4ed when I typed that I'd recommended rat poison, it sounds like it, somehow.

Meerka · 08/03/2015 11:15

elizabethsmum · 08/03/2015 13:58

durham congratulations on the arrival of your little beauty. so pleased for you also that hg has been 'cured'!
