Here we go, as promised...

Yes Dino, I am M2T. Not in disguise though, just got really bored of my name.

So this thread can be a record of the last half of our pregnancies. I'm going to print out the original as a nice log of the first 5 months of the pregnancy.

This is thread we'll all be posting on when we go into labour!! I'm all excited now.

sorry to hear the glucose test made you sick podmog at least it's over with now.

I felt terrible last night was really hot and couldn't get comfy at all, DP asked me what was wrong and I burst out crying. Feel really achy too is this normal? Bump hurts if I lie in certain positions.

On a positive note have packed my hospital bag at long last. It is huge and I know I won't need half the stuff I have put in there.

Podmog - I hope things are getting better for you. Don't let them bully you.

SK - Enjoy your Mat leave!

I am REALLY enjoying mine. I didn't realise just how much I hated that place until now. I got a letter through the post on Saturday from Personnel saying they are deducting a days pay from me for a day off sick just before my Mat Leave...... even though I phoned and faxed through an absence form. ... I have emailed them and am waiting for a reply. The treatment I've had from the company since announcing my pregnancy is disgraceful and I will be contacting the Union about it. Just what I needed.

I am 36+3 today and feeling fit to burst. I haven't had any more signs that baby is ready to come out yet, but halfheartedly carrying on with my RLT. DH is looking forward to me hitting the 38 wk mark as I've told him we will NEED to have sex to get the labour going.

My bump is tight and sore and I'm getting terrible twanging pains in my groin! Sometimes I think my leg is going to give way. I remember this with DS, but it was after his head had engaged. At my appointment on Wednesday the MW said the baby was definitely still free so I dunno why I'm getting these shooting pains.

Everything is ready for baby now. I'm off to concentrate on going into labour. I hope everyone is doing well and I hope our wait isn't too long!

Aaah Monday.
Hello to all you lucky grils on maternity leave.
I'm quite bunged up which is making sleeping harder (as if it needed to get any harder), bump is very tight and achey now, and to cap it all the tube was too crowded to get a seat this morning .
Toothache I'm getting lots of that groin pain too and I don't think mine's engaged yet either. Just having a really good stretch and shoving that little head into my cervix from time to time I think.
Midwife on Wednesday so I'll find out if all my lying on the left etc has managed to turn him over at all.
Sorry your work are still managing to piss you pff Toothache. Hopefully you can sort this one and then forget about them for a few months.

sweetkitty · 17/07/2004 14:53

hi ladies - no weekend babies then! I feel a bit fed up today and it's only the first day of my maternity leave! Feel like I'm skivving off work or something. Going to concentrate on packing my hospital bag today.

I've been getting pains in my groin as well, don't know what she was doing last night but my whole belly was moving.

Toothache - that's terrible the way you have been treated, threaten them with legal action over discrimination. I'm sure they wouldn't dock a mans pay for having one day off sick

not long to go at work here either, 2 days this week then 1 day next (which hopefully will be one long lunch!!!) and home early.
Have started to gather bits for my bag and actually bought something for the baby yesterday, spurred on by looks of horror by other preggie mums at my stretch class that poor baby didn't have a stitch to wear!! Am having a really good few days, I think compared to when I was pregnant with DS I feel so good at 36 weeks, with DS I couldn't get to the end of the road without sitting down, breathless with legs like sausages about to burst. This time apart from the odd thing I feel quite healthy. Have had to take off my wedding ring though as it was getting a bit tight, feels really funny without it, keep going to play with it and then panic becasue it's not there.
Am seeing the midwife on Friday so will know how baby is lying and doing. Can't wait to see him. DH is really pushing me for the optional c/s at 38 weeks as he is impatient too.

sponge · 18/07/2004 13:18

Oh how I envy you ladies of leisure. I've still got the rest of this week and two more to work. I am getting a bit fed up with it now but I have a couple of half days this week and all sorts of time off for hospital visits, ante natal etc so I should make it. After all I think it's only 10 or 11 more actual office days now.

I have finally done some shopping too. On the slim chance that db doesn't hold on 'til after next weekend when we pick up all our baby stuff from my parents' I thought I'd better get a couple of vests and sleepsuits as well as a pack of nappies, cotton wool etc.
Haven't done my bag yet but I have bought some giant sanitary towels and some breast pads. Can't really think of anything else I need.

Toothache · 18/07/2004 14:45

Still here!

I've had 3 evenings in a row with painful Braxton Hicks that have made me quite excited!!.... but NOWT!

I am sore, can't sleep, got stomach cramps, SPD has returned and my stretchmarks are creeping every North (almost above my belly button now.). It's safe to say that at 37+2 I am completely fed-up. No more shows, but I have had an unbelievable increase in gunky, jelly-like discharge (sorry folks). Anyone else noticed this?? In my desperate state I'm thinking it means labour is immenant. [hopeful, desperate smiley].

DH still sticks by his estimate that I will give birth on the 25th July. Even though that's about 10 days early I'm still hoping I don't go that long.

I'm off to try more labour-inducing techniques (I'm sick of RLT now)....

GOOD LUCK AUGUST MUMS 2 BE!

Yes it's really stopped being any fun now hasn't it?
I've actually slept a bit better the last 2 nights - only woken up 4 times as opposed to every 1/2 hour, but still everything is sore and everything's an effort. Just got back from Sainsburys weekly shop and bubba was pressing down so hard I could hardly walk by the end.
Went and picked up all our baby stuff from my parent's yesterday. On about our 10th load of washing now as it's all been in their garage for about 2 years and is really musty and smelly, but at least we now have everything. So come on baby - I'm ready now .
Good luck everyone. All the Julys seem to be late so perhaps the Augusts will be early to compensate [fingers crossed smiley].

sweetkitty · 18/07/2004 16:46

sponge and toothache - I so know what you mean the last few days and nights have been a struggle. Aches and pains everywhere, loads of pressure on my pelvis, heartburn from hell, I've got loads of discharge too keep thinking I've wet myself or it's a show or something but it's not and it's really hot and clammy here at night too. Think I'm ready for the baby to come now.

We picked up our new car today so at least I have means to get to the hospital now and we can got and get the crib at long last.

sibble · 18/07/2004 17:03

hi all, 3.45 here in NZ and have the ususal insomnia
well saw the midwife on friday and baby is now breech - very sad but kind of knew he had turned, his bottom is wedged in my pelvis which is the pressure I can feel. Fundal height measurements also 39 weeks not 36 weeks so appears to be very big baby. So off for full scan on Thursday, seeing consultant on Friday and have provisional date for c/s on 29th July. Will be glad he will be early as uncomfortable but am sooo worried about going into labour earlier than booked date and being cut open when awake. Had c/s last time but no time to think about it as emergency.
Have had knickers in twist all weekend but think am getting head around it all now.

Nesting nesting nesting.
We must have washed 50 little vests and babygrows on Sunday. I had no idea we had so many, and that's having discarded all the more obviously pink and/or flowery ones.
Now all neatly in drawers labelled with ages.
Need to figure out how to assemble that cot now - hmmm, no instructions any more.
Hospital tour this afternoon (any excuse to leave work early).

Sibble but maybe it's for the best. If he's that big then trying to squeeze him out naturally might not be much fun and at least you'll have a date (and an early one).

Dinosaur, you sould chipper. Let me know how the acupuncture goes as I've being considering this - my dh has a great acupuncturist for his migraines so I've thought about asking her if she might be able to help with labour.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone .

Toothache · 19/07/2004 18:47

Evening all.

I got a phone call from my GP today to say that my blood sample taken on Wednesday shows that I am anaemic, which would explain why I've felt so sh1tty for the past couple of weeks. I'm not surprised though as my staple diet of Cheesecake and RLT isn't really that high in Iron! I'll get my prescription tomorrow and hopefully feel better quickly.

SK - We have the same dilemma about getting to the hospital. My DH doesn't sit his driving test until August 16th!!!! So we have to rely on my Mum coming 20 miles to collect me, then travelling 18 miles back to the hospital, an hour round trip. I'll be crossing my legs!

Feeling a bit better today after my order from la redoute arrived (retail therapy.... mmmmmmmmmm ). But my baby must be pressing on a nerve as my left leg keeps gicing way underneath me!

Sibble - That baby just isn't cooperating is it!? Is there a chance it could still turn?

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 19/07/2004 20:19

well I've phoned the hospital and they have said come in and get checked out, I'm getting period like pains now as well but not too bad and not regular. Hopefully it's just a false alarm.

Toothache we got the car yesterday wow if it is the real thing talk about cutting it fine.

sibble · 19/07/2004 21:14

what's happening sweetkitty???????
sounds like everybody is doing the nesting thing, I have also washed all the baby clothes. Bought the dolls clothes home from playcentre to wash over the holiday and had to consciously keep them seperate as there wasn't much difference in the sizes - so tiny and sweet. DS loves to help hang them up and keep saying 'ahhh sweet mummy'.
well I have been spending 10 minutes each night with my bottom elevated above head level to help turn the baby. Dh has to be there as you can go very dizzy. Midwife has also recommended some herbs to help but want to wait until I have had the scan to see where the cord is, am slightly paranoid he will get all tangled although they did say if he is as big as they think at first glance on teh scan last week there is fat chance of him turning. Not going to be the brightest in the class I don't think. Every night it looks and feels as though he is trying to exit through my tummy and every time I bend over (not very often) he gets hooked under my rib and I kind of have to unhook him so he can't be very comfortable. having a booked c/s does make it easier with DS at least I can drop him at nursery and Dh can pick him up in the afternoon, no need to worry about what to do with him in the middle of the night etc.
hang on in there everyone, not long now.....

sponge · 19/07/2004 21:41

Wow SK, sounds like the first signs of movement from an August girl. How exciting. Did you manage to get the crib?
Toothache, would a cab be an option? Sounds like quite a rigmarole to get you to the hospital. I hope you can hold on long enough!
I went for my hospital tour today and now can't decide whether I fancy trying an active birth. I like the idea in principle but I also like the concept of having pain relief on tap. The hospital have 3 active birth rooms which are allocated on a first come first served basis so I don't want to set my heart on it only to find one isn't available, but if I go for it and then want an epidural I'd have to transfer to a normal labour room and there might not be one of those [confused face].
I did find out that it is possible to have a private room, again if there is one available, for a mere £600 per night! I think a ward will be fine if I have to stay in.

Sorry to hear your little fella isn't playing Sibble. But the mental picture of you with your bum in the air has cheered me up .

rosies · 20/07/2004 09:35

there certainly are reflexology, acupressure and acupuncture techniques that can encourage baby to turn but we dont try these until 38 weeks or so.

in any event, its a good relaxing way to try and can also prepare you emotionally and physically for the big event.

best wishes

rosie

last day at work today - hurray hurray - plan on having morning tea, lunch then leaving for an afternoon sit down before I pick DS up from nursery. My body becomes possessed by a sleep monster at about 1.30 which renders me incapable of even muttering my own name!! Am getting very excited about seeing baby now, even if it is only on a scan tomorrow. Half want them to double check sex although a bit late now as everything is blue!!! could be a girl called max who wears alot of blue in the near future.
Wonder how sk is getting on, no news so guess it was probably the big thing....could be 1 down - how many to go??? wonder who will be next???

sibble · 20/07/2004 20:38

hi rosies, sorry, didn't mean to ignore your post, brain not in gear - have thought about acupuncture as had it for morning sickness but have heard that they are reluctant to turn baby when people have had previous c/s in case scar bursts - or is this just a rumour??? may look into it this afternoon. have my herbs on standby to start taking after scan though.

rosies · 20/07/2004 23:22

hi sibble,

i have not heard of that and i am making enquiries as we speak.

imo, and i should humble, as reflexology (which is my discipline) is natural, i would say baby would turn if its safe to do so in these circumstances. but i will let you know what others think on this... its an interesting point.

best wishes

rosie

38 weeks today.
My TENS machine arrived this morning so I think that's pretty much everything now.
Hospital bag isn't packed yet but I've made a list of what needs to go in it.
I've also warned dh that from this weekend he has to stop drinking in the evenings so he's ready to drive me to hospital. At what stage have others tried to ban their partner from pubbing?
Still at work but considering giving up next Wednesday rather than soldiering on til Friday. I'm not doing anyhting here now anyway (but I am getting paid .
Wonder what's happened to Sweetkitty. They must have kept her in so looks like she could be our first.

sweetkitty · 21/07/2004 20:14

BABY HAS ARRIVED!

Well it was my waters broke at 6.30 pm Monday night went to hospital at 9 told to go home and come back in 48 hours if nothing happened. I was back at 11.30 in agony. Told I was only 1-2 cms and that it would be ages yet and that I would need to be admitted. By this time I was screaming the place down so they left me in delivery. At about 2.30 I was screaming I need to push they said don't be silly but then looked and I was fully dilated.

Abbie arrived at 3.22am on 20th July weighing 6lbs 3ozs. It was sheer agony I only had gas and air and the contractions started at 3-4 mins apart and never stopped. She came out with her hands by her head so I tore badly and have loads of stitches.

She is beautiful though and I am delighted. Sorry everyone on the August thread cannot believe I was first (a first timer too with a 4 and a half hour labour.

I'll post again soon.
