Here we go, as promised...

Yes Dino, I am M2T. Not in disguise though, just got really bored of my name.

So this thread can be a record of the last half of our pregnancies. I'm going to print out the original as a nice log of the first 5 months of the pregnancy.

This is thread we'll all be posting on when we go into labour!! I'm all excited now.

Dinosaur - I go to Somerford Grove Practice rather than to the Homerton. Glad someone else is in the cold camp - DH told me I looked ready to take part in a snowball fight this morning before I left the house I was so wrapped up! Interesting you've had the same - do you think its something to do with Dalston air??

No nesting instinct yet but we've been decorating the house no-stop since Xmas (we're slow, its not that its a 10 bedroom mansion in case anyone's wondering!) so perhaps its just been a more drawn out process. Got a new kitchen being installed in 3 weeks so that should save me from any oven cleaning!!

sponge · 27/06/2004 20:40

I got the cleaner to do the fridge - does that count?
Decorating almost finished and dd's new bed coming tomorrow so she can move into her new room.

Mine's thrashing about like a drowning thing as well. Can't figure out which way round he is as I seem to be getting punched and kicked pretty much everywhere.
Still, scan on Monday so then all will become clear.

Have a good evening everyone .

Antenatal appointment today only a 45 minute wait this time so getting better. Actually saw my GP which was strange. Everything OK. Head still down and legs under my ribs (don't need them to tell me that).

Someone at work said to me today so and so is leaving on maternity today and they are 2 weeks ahead of you and tiny compared to you, why do people feel the need to comment. Felt like saying "well you've been on a diet forever and go to the gym 5 times a week are you sure you're not pregnant." There was a woman in antenatal that is due the day after me and she was huge. I think I'm big until I see all the other pregnant bellies.

Hi, Podmog, good to hear from you.
A friend of mine had severe carpal tunnel and had a sling to wear for one wrist. It continued after her pregnancy and she couldn't drive for a while. You must get it checked out, as it can make life even more awkward.
How areyour other two?

hi ladies 34 weeks today completely bored at work so will probably be on MN all day.

toothache - how are you and your DS doing today?

Toothache · 28/06/2004 13:41

SK - Thanks for asking. We're fine. Ds's blisters have cleared up and he's back at Nursery today. I finish on Tuesday so am spending my last few days finishing off work I put off doing for weeks! >Grrrrrrrrroan<

On a plus I just found out I won the MN Competition last week and have just chosen £75 worth of toys from the ity of Marvels website!! Can't believe I won it.... it's come in so handy coz I've managed to get loads of Christmas stokcing fillers for ds and new baby. Thsi Christmas is going to be incredibly tight so it's helped us loads..... and really cheered me up!

My hips and back are really aching today, but I'm leaving a bit early as I've got my 34wk antenatal visit at 3.15pm today. I'll hopefullu get a chance to discuss some alternative AD's or a lower dosage!

Hi all
decorating, cleaning etc is definately in the air. Am having quite strong braxton hicks too. Have another 4 weeks at work taking me to 37 weeks but trying to reduce my sentence to 3 weeks so I can get teh house ready. DS is really having a hard time with it all at the moment, very clingy, cries when I drop him off at nursery etc so we are going to have the week together once I give up work. He is so excited about it deciding where he wants to go etc. not sure a 4 year old understands that 3-4 weeks is alot of sleeps though.

Toothache · 29/06/2004 11:09

Morning.
I had my 34wk antenatal appointment yesterday and managed to discuss the AD's the GP had prescribed me. I explained how it made me feel and he agreed that the reaction I had was quite severe considering the low dose. he asked me a few questions and he concluded that I was much brighter than I had been last time. He said he was glad I hadn't just carried on taking them as now he can see that I am pulling myself out of these rute I'm crawling into. He also said that maybe the tablet triggered something in my brain that's helping me stay positive and calmer(??). He advised me to hand them back into the Chemist and they will re-assess me when the baby comes. They can try some very low preventative doses of the newer AD's then and hopefully I'll avoid all those nasty side-effects!

Apart from that, baby is fine and head down ready for launch, I'm fine and just want the baby here NOW!!!!!!

I hope the weather clears up for the weekend, it's ds's 3rd birthday on Sunday and my Mum is throwing a BBQ! We've got him a bouncy castle.

Great news, toothache, glad it's all working out for you.

sweetkitty · 29/06/2004 12:31

Morning girlies, glad you are feeling a bit better toothache and all's going well.

I had a rough night last night, bad heartburn, backache, felt sick and had pains across my bump, I think they are BHs but I don't know (never been pregnant before).

Also gave DP a fright as I screamed in the middle of the night and he thought something was happening but it was cramp in my calf he's going to be a nervous wreck by the end of this.

Thanks girls.
I just can't explain how awful I felt a few weeks ago.... and now I feel much calmer. Okay, I'm still a looney!!! But hey, I'm pregnant, I'm allowed to be.

SK - I had backache and an achy bump on Tuesday night (or was it Monday??). I thought things has started! But hopefully it's just our bodies adjusting for a nice easy 3 hr labour at 38wks.

What a crappy weekend. Dd has been really ill, had to take her to A&E on Tuesday as we were worried she had meningitis - wasn't though but she had to stay in for ages while the docs monitored her temp and rash. I have had hardly any sleep since Sunday so when I saw the m/w yesterday for my 32 week checkup my blood pressure is up (what a surprise) and she has told me to finish work. So my last week is next week. Don't think work are too happy but I am putting myself first. Means finishing at 33 weeks though which is way earlier than I wanted.

And its f**kin raining.

Fed fed fed fed up .

Morning everyone, had a nightmare journey into work tody - late train and then tube even more crowded than usual, but only five more working days left for me (four if the strike goes ahead next week) .

Think I had my first proper BH yesterday, but not what I expected. Was quite a sharp pain - like stitch? - but only down one side of my bump. Lasted about 5 or 6 minutes. Does that sound like BH to you?

Toothache · 29/06/2004 13:38

Muriwai - Definitely doesn't sound like a BH. I get that stitch like pain too, I think it's stretching pains. I get it if I walk too fast. It stops after a few minutes. Braxton Hicks are just like tightenings. You're tummy will go rock hard. Sometimes mine are so overwhelming I have to stop walking until it passes and sometimes they ache. But it's like a dull ache, as though I've been tensing my tummy muscles up for too long (tummy muscles?????). If you get that stitch like pain, I was advised to have a seat until it passes.

OO - What a fright you must've got! But I'm glad she's okay. Did they say what it was? An unknown virus?

I'm also glad you're putting yourself first. If you need to stop, then so be it. Just look at is a time to treat yourself and be pampered. I have only got 3 more working days left now, and just can't wait!

OP posts:
muriwai · 29/06/2004 13:52

Thanks toothache - that's probably what it was - I had been walking quite a lot. Anyway, seeing the MW tomorrow so I'll mention it to her.

Just created my first conversation in the Childbirth section - if anyone has thoughts to add that would be great.

sweetkitty · 29/06/2004 15:37

muri - I've been getting stitches when I walk fast for a while now. Usually I just stop for a few minutes and they go. This pain last night was like someone tightening a belt too much on my stomach.

So jealous of you lot who are finishing work soon - I've got another 2 weeks to go after this one. Bloke at work yesterday said "oh you are finishing very early my wife worked up until the day before she was due so she could have more time off with the baby afterwards" some other people have said I'm leaving it a bit late. Why do people feel the need to comment on everything when you are pregnant?

Glad you are feeling better toothache we should set up a "Pregnant and Mad Club"

OO - so sorry to hear about your DD hope she's better soon. At least finishing early you can put your feet up and spend some time with her, don't feel guilty about work.

muriwai · 29/06/2004 17:50

Toothache, if you're there, hope you saw my message in the childbirth section - your thread didn't worry me at all just inspired me to be assertive (not something I usually need any help with ) and to try and get the kind of birth that I'm comfortable with. And, IMO, the info on your thread is exactly what first timers like me need - it's better to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised, don't you think?

sponge · 29/06/2004 18:24

My bump is achey most afternoons and evenings now. I think it's a combination of strain from the day's walking etc and me still trying to cram large amounts of food into an increasingly squished tummy.
I don't find I get stitich too much now (did much more often in mid-pregnancy) but occasionally get really sharp stabbing pains if I move wrongly (sideways twisting movements seem to trigger it).
Bubba still seems to be training for the Olympics - at what stage are they supposed to stop thrashing about so much through lack of space?

Glad you're feeling better and more positive now toothache. Good luck with the weather.

Sorry to hear about your scare OO but at least it wasn't as bad as you'd feared. Horrible though those times you spend in hospital with them - so worrying.

Anyway, chin up everyone - the weather's looking up, there's not too long to go now and England are going to beat Portugal tonight .
