So AF is currently 9 days late. I'm holding off from POAS just yet! But of course my mind is in overdrive and I can't stop thinking about 'telling people' if I do get a positive test!! I really want to think of a romantic way to tell my partner.

How did you tell yours?

I didn't. He told me. We always said we'd do it together so I POAS and put it in the windowsill in our bedroom. Got back into bed with him and after a couple of minutes he got up and checked and told me I'm pregnant. I didn't quite believe him and got up to check myself. Then we both got back into bed for a cuddle Blush

Best thing is, we are about the least romantic people ever. And it wouldn't have been quite the same if it was negative but I was pretty sure before I took the test.

I remember telling him just as he got back from a business trip, I was grinning like a loon and giggling because I was so nervous! He looked shocked, bless him and I could tell he was putting on his best 'happy' face despite probably feeling quite freaked out. His was probably the exact same expression I pulled after seeing the line myself (and swearing like a trucker for 5 minutes in the bathroom). Just like me within 24 hours he was grinning like a loon too Smile.

I sent him a picture of the (internet cheapy) test asking if he could see a second really faint line. He was at work but rang me and I said I was going to buy a proper test and would let him know. Took 2 more tests at work, both positive, so took another picture and sent it to him. All day we were texting each other and getting really excited!

Me and dp had split up after a stupid drunkened weekend arguing. I was staying at my grans and was out for tea with my friend. Was sat eating talking about babies which made me realise I was a few days late. After food, we rushed to asda, I POAS in the toilets, put it back in the box and we ran to the car. I took it out the box and we just sat in silence for ages. It was very faint so waited until the next morning to do the other test. Again BFP! I took a picture of both test and sent them to dp. He response was "do another one" anyway he came up to see me straight away and took me doctors to confirm it. We both didn't known whether to be happy seen as we had been trying for why seemed like forever or sad seen as we had just split up. We had a small chat in the car and realised it was time to grow up and sort ourselves out. We have been perfect ever since and due in 12 week Grin

I took him for a walk on our favourite beach, we sat down on a rock for a chat and I told him I had a present for him. I passed him a little hat with his favourite team's logo on and he tried to put it on! I said is it a bit small? And he said it is a bit, I replied that's because it's not for you!! And pulled the pregnancy test out of my pocket! The look on his face was priceless Grin

I POAS at about 10pm at night, DH had been out for drinks and a meal with friends. He got home at about 10.10pm and as he came through the door. I said "close your eyes and put out your hand". I then put the positive test on his hand and said "open your eyes".

It was a digi one so "pregnant" was written on it so it was obvious! Then we both smiled and burst into tears. Grin

(To be clear I'd put the lid back on before putting it on his hand!)

My husband was at a stag weekend for our best man. I was at home and in one of the worst moods I've ever been in (just random not cause hubby was away) figured I might as well do the test as a negative result couldn't make my mood any worse. Positive result so e-mailed a picture to my husband. We had been trying for a year and a half. After waiting for 45 minutes I cracked and called him he hadn't got the message yet but was thrilled.

batfish · 17/02/2015 18:44

I tested one evening after work whilst packing for a ski holiday that we were going on the day after with friends. Had sore boobs for a week and wanted to confirm that I wasn't pregnant before I went off for a big booze up holiday. Except to my massive shock it was a BFP! I had to drop something round to a friend's house so I got in the car and took the test with me so I could take a pic and post it on here thinking I would be told I was seeing things. But others could see it too. So I came home, peed on another stick and then shoved it in the hubby's face whilst telling him not to get too excited as it was very very early days and the chance of something going wrong was quite high. He wanted to get excited bless him but I just felt absolutely terrified of something going wrong (and that hasn't changed much so far) - I had imagined that I would tell him in some cool way but unfortunately far from it!

GoooRooo · 17/02/2015 19:06

The first time I did a test without telling him and he was standing by the back door having a cig (he quit not long after) and I shoved the pregnancy test under his nose. He burst into tears. It had taken us five years to fall pregnant.

Last time (I miscarried sadly) and this time he knew because he was pestering me to do tests. He was much more clued up on the conception process after DS! We sat and waited for the tests to have a result in the window together.

BeautyBoo congratulations on your BFP! What a lovely Valentine's gift. How did your tell your partner?

CountryPlumpkin · 17/02/2015 19:28

First time around DH was a bit freaked out and refused to believe it for a couple of days Hmm

Second time round he had just got a new phone and asked me to send him a text to see if the settings were ok or whatever. So I sent him a photo of the positive text. Watching his face as he looked at the photo and slowly registered what it was and started grinning was lovely Smile

BeautyBoo · 18/02/2015 17:22

Thankyou Gooorooo!

I bought a treasure hunt so gave DP the first envelope to open as his 'valentines gift' so he opened that and then had to solve the riddle to find the next one and so on. He'd been all around the house searching for these envelopes and we had a real giggle doing in. Then the last one had 2 gifts with it. The card said 'I can't wait for the next chapter of our lives' and the gifts were a Clear Blue test and a 'pregnancy for dads' book. He opened them and stared at them in shock for a minute and then started crying which of course set me off and we both just cried and cuddled for a while! I videoed the whole thing on my phone and when we were out for dinner in the evening we watched it back and cried again!! I couldn't of wished for it to have gone any better and we are both really happy. 8 weeks today and just had our booking in appt this afternoon Smile

It was a real risk to take as I had bought and planned the whole thing but didn't do the test until that morning!! It could have been a really disappointing day for me (and no gifts for DP haha) but I was so sure that I was pregnant and it was so worth the wait Smile

Mrslongy · 19/02/2015 09:30

After a tequila fuelled weekend (yes that was my first ever craving I suppose) my husband went to work thinking I was still recovering with worlds longest hangover. I felt there was more to it than that so decided to do a test.It was positive.so I waited the longest 5 hours in world for hubby to come home and to tell him I wrote with my lipstic on the mirror - 'I am pregnant' :)
