Blue pram for a baby girl?

I am pregnant with baby number 2 and found a pram I really love - they do it in black, silver, pink and royal blue. I love the blue one so much.

We don't know what we're having yet (if we do find out at our next scan!).

But would it be ok to use a blue pram for a little girl? Obviously wouldn't use pink for a boy (don't want a pink pram anyway) but I just love this blue colour.

Would any other mums to be use blue for a little girl?

Katie strangely dd (3) rather likes ballet, but she's the least graceful in the class by far!

NeedsAsockamnesty · 25/01/2015 14:47

I'm really confused, why on earth wouldn't it be ok?

ILoveCwtches · 25/01/2015 14:53

Dd's pram is black/grey as it doesn't show the dirt! I have actively tried to avoid pink stuff for her but relatives think differently & if they've been kind enough to buy her things, I just go with it.

DP finds it amusing that I always try for the nicest/most practical colour and not the pink version. I find it amusing that DD, at 21mo, has just decided her favourite colour is blue so chooses the blue version of everything! Smile

Our baby pram is grey with a blue and grey carrycot and the pushchair is navy blue. I have never had any comments about DD sitting in either. She has big brothers but our previous pushchairs for them were dark green, purple and red (separate pushchairs not all colours together! I like the navy as lots of colours go with it.

It's fine to do but if I saw you I would assume it was elder brothers hand me down! Judgey I know. No offence intended

ShockConfused you don't think people should reuse something as expensive, hardwearing and long lasting as a pram on siblings!!!Shock what a wasteful attitude.

To me blue is like black or grey - bog standard pram colour not aimed at either sex.

The only thing is you occasionally get twits who'd assume boy because blue within a 10" radius must mean boy. But tbh I've had people ask about "her" when DS was dressed all in blue in a dinosaur stroller (spare given to us free and will no doubt be used for DD once she's here).

god no! she might turnout to be a lezzer

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 25/01/2015 15:28

Eh? We had a blue pram. No one died. Hmm

KatieKaye · 25/01/2015 15:32

We had a pale grey pram.
Does that mean boring babies?

If you want to buy a new pram for each new baby, that's your choice.

But to judge someone negatively because they might (gasp) have used a perfectly good pram for a second, third or even fourth baby is not just snobby but bloody stupid. more money than sense

bagofsnakes · 25/01/2015 15:53

Of course!

The pram we had for DS is a pale egg shell blue and we got it before we knew if he was a boy or girl, just because we loved it. DC2 is due any day now, we don't know the sex but it will be using the same pram.

The way I see it is that I wear blue if I like, DH has pink t-shirts and work shirts, I'd drive a blue car, I have a blue bike - if it makes no difference to us, it makes no difference to them.

I had a blue pram. I knew I was having a girl, but it didn't enter my head that meant people might think blue wasn't suitable. I like blue (and I don't like black), and I'm the one pushing the pram. I had a blue car seat as well. And a blue high chair!

I did have a few strangers berating me for trying to trick them into believing I had a boy rather than a girl Confused, but I just put it down to them being a bit strange.

I'd happily use a pink pram for a boy too, if I liked it the best. Why would you choose a colour you didn't like as much just because of the sex of your baby?! The baby isn't going to know any different anyway.
