Blue pram for a baby girl?

Shootingstar2289 · 25/01/2015 12:34

I am pregnant with baby number 2 and found a pram I really love - they do it in black, silver, pink and royal blue. I love the blue one so much.

We don't know what we're having yet (if we do find out at our next scan!).

But would it be ok to use a blue pram for a little girl? Obviously wouldn't use pink for a boy (don't want a pink pram anyway) but I just love this blue colour.

Would any other mums to be use blue for a little girl?

Does anyone even notice prams or their colour? And if they did would it matter? It's a pram. Confused

crapcrapcrapcarp · 25/01/2015 13:37

Is this thread a joke? It had to be a joke, right? Confused

DramaAlpaca · 25/01/2015 13:39

Why on earth not? I can't see any problem with this at all.

Sparklingbrook · 25/01/2015 13:40

What is the matter with DC1's old pram?

specialsubject · 25/01/2015 13:40

are women not allowed to drive blue cars? Have I been getting it wrong?

DramaAlpaca · 25/01/2015 13:43

I thought that too, Sparkling.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 25/01/2015 13:44

It's fine to do but if I saw you I would assume it was elder brothers hand me down!

Is that even a thing? One is expected to get a new pram for each child now? Good grief!

Sparklingbrook · 25/01/2015 13:44

I wasn't sure whether now things had changed and you had to have a new pram for each child Drama. I haven't done it since 2002.

DramaAlpaca · 25/01/2015 13:47

I haven't done it since 1997

I didn't realise that prams had become fashion items until I came on MN. Things have changed.

OTheHugeManatee · 25/01/2015 13:48

Actual lol at this thread.

whiskeytangofoxtrot · 25/01/2015 13:49

Quitelikely

It's fine to do but if I saw you I would assume it was elder brothers hand me down! Judgey I know. No offence intended

Did you buy different prams for different babies then?

OMG do people DO this??

PrimalLass · 25/01/2015 13:49

I'd be more likely to judge someone with a pink pram.

whiskeytangofoxtrot · 25/01/2015 13:50

Sorry realised I x-posted with Sabrina

HesterShaw · 25/01/2015 13:51

When I were a lass, we all were trundled round in something like this. It did all the cousins. I think it was then passed onto someone else in the street.

When we had grown a bit, we were in something like this. Again it was passed around until it broke.

Modern life can be awfully silly.

PrimalLass · 25/01/2015 13:51

Quitelikely, would you really buy a new pram just to avoid putting a girl in a blue pram? Seriously?

IAmAPaleontologist · 25/01/2015 13:51

I had a blue pushchair. I put a boy and a girl in it. At the same time.

I have had blue slings, pinkish slings and cream coloured slings. All 3 children have been carried in them regardless of sex. Colours are colours and nothing more, they do not denote either sex or gender.

SoupDragon · 25/01/2015 13:52

I would definitely judge someone who thinks prams are gender specific.

Sparklingbrook · 25/01/2015 13:53

This is nice, takes away any element of doubt. Wonder if it comes as a single?

Blue pram for a baby girl?
Rosa · 25/01/2015 13:54

My pram was blue for 2 Dds..... I did have a pink blanket through!!!!

whiskeytangofoxtrot · 25/01/2015 13:56

PS sorry OP think we have scared you off

KatieScarlettreregged · 25/01/2015 13:57

I had a blue pram and I drive a blue car.
Why did no one tell me!!!!
Poor DD Hmm

BikeRunSki · 25/01/2015 14:05

I had a blue pram. That must be why DD shins dresses and dolls and is never happier that when she is mucking about in jeans and a jumper.

BeverleyCrusher · 25/01/2015 14:06

My red pram is now on its 3rd DS. It's like the mumsnet chicken of prams. except the covers have been washed a few times and it's faded a bit, so is now looking a bit pink Shock. Several people have mistaken DS3 for a girl and then got shirty with me; "I assumed he was a girl as he's wearing green". wtf?

In answer to the OP, as long as it fits in your car/on the bus as applicable, you can push it ok and you like it, any colour is absolutely fine.

KatieScarlettreregged · 25/01/2015 14:08

Bike, YY
DD is 19 and shuns pink like its contageous. She also refused point blank to try ballet as a child.
If only I'd known the Blue M&P Primo Niño was the cause...Sad

bakingtins · 25/01/2015 14:21

I have a blue Mumsnet chicken pram and I never knew it Grin none of my children (both sexes) seem scarred by it so far.
