My taste buds have totally changed so struggling to eat a wide range of meat based meals. (Basically can only just tolerate mince [in different forms] and fish)

Can't wait for things to go back to "normal".

What are you not eating at the moment that will be/is on your "scoffing as soon as possible after birth"?

Mine is hot fresh baguette with pate for breakfast lunch and dinner...... okay maybe just lunch

And a medium done STEAK! with blue cheese dressing yum yum yum

Cripes I've eaten most of these things too. Blush

DP made steaks the other night and mine was most certainly rare. Probably blue. Ate it anyway with a thick wedge of Stilton on top.

Only things I'm properly avoiding are pate, booze and liver. Sushi, runny eggs and cooked cheeses are all being eaten. But then I've been lucky that I've not really gone off anything.

Wish I'd gone off chocolate Envy

daluze · 21/01/2015 20:40

Eggs benedict!

fattymcfatfat · 21/01/2015 20:40

Oh vodka sounds soooo good right now! Will have to console myself that baby is due before my birthday so I can have it then!

milkandchalk · 21/01/2015 20:43

Can't wait to have a thick slice of pate!

Chillyegg · 21/01/2015 20:45

To start one will be having pate on toast with a wide variety of cheese!
And then I'll have a medium steak with chips and a runny egg! Then I'll have a humungous mug of black coffee!

Psmith83 · 21/01/2015 20:50

Whiskey!!!!!!
I bloody miss it.
I can smell it halfway across the pub now.
It's the only thing that drives me totally wild.Confused
A lovely, peaty Laphroaig. I will follow it up with one delicious cigar.

hestialou · 21/01/2015 20:55

Lattes, decaf isn't the same Blush

ElleyBear13 · 21/01/2015 21:15

Dippy eggs, a proper full sized plate of food (instead of nibbling), i was never a big drinker maybe a glass or two of wine at the weekend but since ttc all ive wanted is a glass of red! Mmmm wine :D

TouchPauseEngage · 21/01/2015 22:28

Whilst some of the other foods on the banned list pose some small (or not so small) risk, lion stamped eggs pose no risk of salmonella. They are vaccinated against it. So if it is a fresh, lion stamped egg you can eat it without fear. Each to there own on the risks you take in pregnancy but avoiding such a healthy food when you're craving it seems a shame.

Mmmmm where do I start lol ! Having developed gestational diabetes ten weeks ago I have a long list. Chocolate, cake anything with sugar that's squidgy, fruit I'm craving so badly, rice, pasta with garlic gread. Potatoes of any variety bit especially mash and pizza Smile oh and chip's. Think that's it for now, thank goodness only a week to go. Thankfully I know this lo is worth it x

CBo79 · 21/01/2015 22:48

Wine, wine, wine, wine. And a wheel of brie :)

daluze · 21/01/2015 22:48

Thanks Touch, I never knew! It's great news - even though I will still need to avoid eggs benedict in restaurants, I can eat proper runny eggs at home! Well, probably in few weeks when my morning sickness goes away... (fingers crossed...)

TouchPauseEngage · 21/01/2015 22:53

My pleasure daluze. I had three painful weeks avoiding them before I found this article (on here). It was all I fancied for a while, well that and chips!

sleepybee · 21/01/2015 23:33

Not food, but craving baileys, amaretto & advokat Grin

LetticeKnollys · 21/01/2015 23:43

I missed red and white wine and Amaretto, but DS is not a good sleeper - I can about manage on the limited sleep I get but any alcohol on top of that finishes me off and I feel really low on energy the next day!

gingerfluffball · 22/01/2015 06:48

A load of squidgy brie on crackers with a decent amount of port to wash it down.

And bourbon. I had the odd small glass of champagne around Christmas but spirits are different.

PLUS a good strong cup of creamy espresso, have totally gone off it while pg and know I used to love the stuff!

fattymcfatfat · 22/01/2015 07:59

It isnt the risk of salmonella with a runny yolk its food poisoning as it is technically an undercooked food! Basically it could make you ill but I suppose we take that risk when we eat it any other time!

TouchPauseEngage · 22/01/2015 08:13

Salmonella is the food poisoning you are at risk of with under cooked non lion stamped eggs. When they warn of food poisoning from eggs that's what they are warning of. So if the egg is lion stamped then there is no risk of salmonella and therefor no risk of catching it from an undercooked egg.

I'm not on some mad egg promotion mission honest but It's frustrating that there is this blanket ban on such a healthy food when there needn't be because they worry that our pregnant brains can't take in the advice 'lion stamped eggs -ok, non lion stamped eggs - not ok'

As I said each to there own and I choose to eat Parma ham because I think the risk is minute but I wouldn't expect anyone else to, however, there isn't a risk of salmonella (food poisoning) with lion stamped eggs so I'm happy to be a mad egg woman about it if it stops women craving poached eggs for 9 months for no reason!

fattymcfatfat · 22/01/2015 08:22

Thats fair enough everyone is different I just go from what the nhs site tells me as I have no faith in newspapers. The website says nothing about salmonella although it used to when I was pregnant with ds1 so maybe they have just updated the wording. Im no expert. Anyway its entirely up to the mother which risks to take and whixh they deem too high. Im not saying definitely dont do it, as thats up to the mum, im just stating the reasons why I dont.

avocadotoast · 22/01/2015 08:24

Most of the stuff you're not supposed to eat I don't like anyway, so I'm not missing out too much.

I am looking forward to several cold, delicious beers though. Perhaps with a G&T to follow.

But you can prise my runny eggs from my cold dead hands, I'm not giving them up Grin

Purplecircle · 22/01/2015 08:27

Midwife told me that I can eat runny yolks as long as they are lion eggs, so I'm still having poached eggs for brekkie

However I am missing wine a lot, only 35 weeks to go!

TouchPauseEngage · 22/01/2015 08:27

As I said, it's absolutely up to the individual. The advice will probably be updated in 2015 on the nhs website so hopefully they do it soon So you can enjoy eggs this pregnancy Smile

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 22/01/2015 08:59

That was how I understood it too Touch, hence why I'm still eating runny eggs. It's worth noting that the risk of salmonella from eggs was very much overstated at the time too. I'm also still drinking caffeine within the recommended limits, and have had the odd glass of wine but it has been giving me a massive headache! I had baked Camembert last week which is fine as it's cooked, and that has satisfied my Camembert craving!

rubyboo2 · 22/01/2015 09:23

Never mind the food I am looking forward to a glass of red wine Wine Smile ha ha

TouchPauseEngage · 22/01/2015 10:03

GotTo have you read Expecting Better by Emily Oster. There's some really interesting analysis of risks and how many of them are overstated - the caffeine one was a real eye opener!
I totally went off wine for the first trimester but have had the odd glass since - wierdly I've wanted red rather than white which is my usual tipple.
