Oooh rp that journey sounded fun- not!! I find I'm ok in front passenger seat but back seat plus my brother's driving was not a good combination!!

Bloody ell to your relatives, esp the sister who wanted to watch!!! You're totally right on the boundaries.

pip love the non prep! I've done a bit of looking online to get ideas for my english planning, which I quite enjoyed but not when you realise you have 6 other plans to get ready for next week.

I don't mind saying. My last pg was an Ivf one and I'd had spotting after my bfp which gradually got worse and then I had a very large bleed. I had an early scan & it was there but no fetal pole and not right size. We were told to come back a week later & it was good as there was a pole and heartbeat but still measuring small. Between that & my 12 week scan it must have stopped growing as at 12 week there was no heartbeat, which was just awful. We were due to start IVF 2 when this bfp came along. We have booking in appt tomorrow & the 12 wk scan next Friday.

Hello bair, well done on your surprise bfp and welcome.

Can I ask berries past their first trimester if they can remember how much weight they put on in it? I googled something that said most women put on between 2-5lbs. By my calculations I have put on 8lbs!! I mean I know it's Christmas and also the fact that I can't stop flipping eating but 8 lbs sounds a bit excessive. I will check with mw tomorrow. In bid to be a bit better I ate some humous with celery earlier... Dh is now bringing home chips. Just so ravenous! And we've been out for lunch today tooBlush

Also, whilst I am it, has anyone noticed their ability to hold onto their wee has diminished in pregnancy? I really needed a wee the other day & it was a bit close making it to the loo. I also had a bit of a retching/ coughing fit the other and, more shame here, a bit of wee came out!! Then to top it off I tripped on a curb & a bit of wee tried to escape!! < scuttles off to buy tena lady>

Pipbin · 02/01/2015 18:55

Thanks Bushy. I am still worried after my 8 weeks scan, even though it was fine. I've got no reason to think anything untoward has happened but I'm still not relaxed. How are you feeling this time?

FeatherFeather11 · 02/01/2015 20:30

bushy can't quite remember how much I put on in the first Tri, and I've avoided weighing myself except for once a few weeks ago - had put on 1.5stone at that point. I really would chuck the scales in a cupboard and go with whatever - no point in being anxious about weight and it'll all come off the other end. Having said that, the vain part if me was quite pleased that I hadn't piled it on too much, but I'm sure I'll be looking at 2.5stone over all by the end of it. My mantra has been: "ah, well, eat chips and be merry!" Just keep in mind that the amount of food you can eat/fit in later on is less as your stomach is all squashed up. Have found little and often works better for me than big meals now. Also, on the wee thing: brace yourself! I'm now getting up 3 or 4 times in the night! Are you doing pelvic floor exercises? They help the sneeze/trip wee situation. Grin

rp Definitely something going on with my bazookas in the last few days! Tingling and shooting pains and low n behold, I woke up to a cold sticky wet patch on my pyjama top at 5am this morning. I've finally leaked a bit of colusurtum!! Got some disposable breast pads today... Blush

lentil seconding win on the Harmony test at the fetal medicine centre in Harley Street. I went on the same day I had my 12 week scan and signed up for the package deal: 2 x very thorough scans and a blood test. They give you the option of gender fragmentation (via your bloods) which we went for and so glad we did. It's 99.9% accurate and we really wanted to know. They are amazing and worth every penny if you want peace of mind. My 12 week nhs scan was so rubbish and rushed I was relieved we had the harmony scan to go to straight afterwards.

Welcome and congratulations bair! How far along do you think you are now?

Oh and rp: shamefully, I don't drive. I planned to get my licence earlier on in pregnancy, but never got round to it so OH has been chauffeuring me and I live in central(ish) London so buses and walking have been my way of getting round.

7 weeks on Monday, Feather.

Great manta for one day at a time. DH and I keep repeating it.

RevoltingPeasant · 02/01/2015 22:12

Bushy don't worry about weight. I didn't put that much on - by 27w I'd put on 3.5 kg since the booking in appt - but I was throwing up like a champ for about 10-11 weeks and also, I've made up for it since then. It's weird as I don't think I've put on that much fat other than the bump, and the bump is quite solid, but also big! I think it all comes out in the wash, really.

Yay Feather! You can join my special colostrum club.

Oh and Bushy, yes, I had several surprise pelvic floor failures early on. Just wore a panty liner every day and that has been enough. But the first couple were unwelcome to say the least!

RevoltingPeasant · 02/01/2015 22:14

...in fact my very favourite moment of pg so far was probably about week 10, standing in the shower and leaning over the sink to throw up whilst simultaneously weeing a bit down the plughole. Door was locked during shower time after that - there are some images no husband needs.....

greatbigbushybeard · 02/01/2015 22:21

Thanks for the reassurance re weight gain. I don't think I look like I've chuffed it on. It's just the scales. At first I was pleased as it's a good sign to put weight on but then I got worried that it's a health problem, not so worried from a vanity point of view.

It's my New Years thing to try and do my pelvic floor & go for regular walks.... And yes the panty liner is my new best friend!

greatbigbushybeard · 02/01/2015 22:23

Lol rp!!!

Pixie001 · 03/01/2015 08:58

Oh crap news Nolly. So sorry to hear it and thinking of you and Mr N, such a hard start to the year for you both. Hope you're looking after each other and taking time to come to terms. You must be living such a nightmare but take hope that you were able to get a natural Bfp and no reason why you can't again. You will have your time. Just gutting that it's not now. WineCakeFlowers. Let us know how you're getting on.

winohhh · 03/01/2015 10:38

Bushy, pelvic floor wise, I had a few sneeze related issues early on! But I've been doing my exercises religiously since then and don't seem to have had any further incidents.

Weight wise, I've had the opposite problem! I've still not quite put on a stone and a half yet. Working on it. Was told off by the midwife, as if I was somehow trying to deny my baby fat stores. But you try putting on weight when you can't eat cake, chocolate, crisps, chips etc. it's hard work!

RevoltingPeasant · 03/01/2015 14:57

Argh saw the HB MW today and my blood pressure is up :(

She wants to come by and take it Tues morning but if it's still high then I may have to go into hospital. Boo!

thelentil · 03/01/2015 16:00

Don't forget to keep your eyes on the prize RP, I started out with very clear ideas about the birth I want along with an aversion/dread of hospitals and staff but now I just don't care, as long as the end result is a healthy child. I've got the opposite problem with very low blood pressure, after operations I can't leave until I can get it to rise above a certain level, I think angry thoughts until it's near enough to normal

Afternoon naps are taking over mornings, afternoons and evenings, as is the need to never be far away from a loo

Bair · 03/01/2015 19:10

Love your name Bushy, keep saying it to myself in the Hot Fuzz style.

I'm not even looking at scales with this pregnancy. We're here now, I'm going to enjoy it, going to eat a balanced diet while treating myself and if I put on a few stone pounds then I'll deal with that once I've had the baby.

Wino doesn't the baby get first dibs on all the stuff it needs? I always thought it go first, then you. Hence how we end up anaemic and run down even though baby is fine. I'm sure the fact you don't eat cake, chips, crisps etc will be better for your baby. There's good fats in loads of food and I'm sure the baby is getting plenty.

RP, is there anything that could have caused a wee surge for you blood pressure wise? Like a blip?

I'm napping all the time too lentil, turns out I got my dates wrong, I'm 5 weeks 6 days, not 6 weeks. I feel like such a whinge, I've got morning sickness, I'm shattered and I'm all bloaty. Loving it but feel like I'm really early on all the symptoms. I feel all full down below, don't remember this from DS. But it's been 11 years since I was pregnant and all I remember is the ms from first time.

thelentil · 03/01/2015 23:02

Ah, the dates all seem a little bit hit and miss, I went for a scan due to spotting, they said 5+1, six days later it was 6+4, four days after that it was 7+4, that was 9th Dec so puts it at 10+4 now. I understand that it's most accurate between 11 and 14 weeks

I feel bloaty too, with odd sensations, like I need to fart, obvs a lot of the time that's because I actually need to fart. How early are you meant to show with a first one? I just look like I've had a few too many pies at the moment

thelentil · 03/01/2015 23:03

Most likely because I've had too many pies...

Pixie001 · 04/01/2015 08:07

Ha lentil I'm with you on that. Tried on some work clothes yesterday and already have a pair of trousers no longer wearable to add to my 3 way too tight bras. Bushy I'm now at 3.5lbs gain but going back to work routine will help...although it's gonna take some time for my stomach to shrink back. I find I'm only nauseous when hungry so need to get into the habit of taking fruit/veg snacks and stop cheese and crackers/ready salted crisps.
Gonna be tricky getting back into a work frame of mind...much more important things to think about.
Have appt with mw on Fri but the receptionist didn't know what she was doing so I'm not sure I'm seeing her at the right time...I'll be 8w4d by time of appt. Should I be having it nearer 10w?

Pipbin · 04/01/2015 08:54

I don't think it makes much odds how many weeks you are at booking in. It is a lot of form filling and blood taking.
The earlier you do it the sooner you will get your scan and won't be having your 12 week scan at 13+3 like me.

thelentil · 04/01/2015 09:23

I was told booking appt any time after 8 weeks but had to wait as there were no appointments over Christmas

Just a load of forms, blood pressure, height and weight, a bounty pack with a sample of tea bags, nappy rash cream and vitamins. No blood test at mine, they'll do that at scan

greatbigbushybeard · 04/01/2015 21:29

Yes bair love that film!! Dh and I are always quoting from that film, I think everyone else thinks what are we on about!!

God work clothes, got to start thinking about things I can get into rather than comfies!!

Lol at the farting lentil!

Bair · 05/01/2015 08:19

Meant to be ringing to book times with fertility consultant and gp today. GP is open but hasn't turned the 'We're closed for the holidays' answering machine off, no one at the hospital can get through to fertility. Reckon they've all slept in? Both usually open at 8.

winohhh · 05/01/2015 08:19

RP, any massage update? Did it go any better second time round? Hope your blood pressure is ok. Is your apt tomorrow? How high was it at your last check? Fingers crossed!

nolly3 · 05/01/2015 09:23

Hi all
just wanted to say thank you to you all for the lovely messages. Really means a lot, esp as can't tell people in RL and you all know what it all feels like. It really made a difference to me and mr nol to know you were all thinking of us. x

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/01/2015 10:37

Place marking

FeatherFeather11 · 05/01/2015 10:57

nolly so sorry to you and Mr N again. Hope you're as ok as can be. Thinking of you. Flowers

rp blood pressure is a funny thing. Hope all is good tomorrow.

Hi everyone else. Will catch up on thread and post properly soon.

Well that was all a let down. Whenever I was treated at the fertility clinic they would bleat on about early scans and being under them until I left with a healthy baby.

I rang to say I'm pregnant. Apparently they do nothing from here on in as it wasn't assisted conception and I just go through anti natal like normal. Midwife can't do my booking until 21st Jan.

I was really hoping for an early scan, just to see something was there. Just to see it was real. Now cramming Beef Hula Hoops into my mouth repeating 'I'm just as pregnant without a scan, one day at a time'.
