Very quiet on here - any news bushy? How are you feeling?

Pixie001 · 30/07/2015 14:33

Also checking on for bushy news....

Just had 38w appt and all progressing to plan. Head is 3/5ths palpable so encouraging that it's going in the right direction, although I know it doesn't mean anything!

Jelliebabe1 · 01/08/2015 09:24

Started NCT on Thursday! Lovely group. We have a full day today, and we're covering birth positions! Eeeeeep. Grin

Pixie001 · 01/08/2015 09:50

Starts to get a bit more real now huh Jellie?! I've met some lovely people through our nct group and learnt a lot so hope you find yours as useful.

Gillster · 01/08/2015 10:29

We have NCT classes booked in for end Oct/beg Nov so a little way off but hoping to meet some nice people through them as don't have family and friends particularly close by.

Think we need a new list soon for the new thread.

pearlcrystal · 04/08/2015 08:19

Morning all!

Bushy - how are you? Assuming that things have gone very quiet because you have your hands full but would be lovely to hear from you that all was well.

jellie how did you enjoy your NCT class? Hope you got some great birth position ideas. The basic message from our class seemed to be to keep moving and not be on your back, with lots of use of birth balls, etc.

gill How are you feeling?
The socializing bit was the best bit for me of the nct as lots of the material we covered was stuff I'd already picked up from the berries. The people are lovely though and all the due dates very close, so it will be exciting seeing everyone progress to having babies. We only finished class end of July and have already had a lunch together and are planning and evening meal too, so the socializing aspect seems to work very well.

You're right that we'll need a new thread list soon - I think the old one is now a couple of pages back in the comments - with birth/due dates and gender (where known) on. If you need my info it's: EDD 21/08/15 boy... Eeeeek just 17 days away!

pixie how are you enjoying mat leave? Have you got lots you'd like to get done before the little one arrives or will you mostly use it to catch up on rest?

lady thank you for the tip for juju's book. I have been reading through it and finding it really interesting. It provides an interesting contrast to the hypnobirthing - which tries to prevent any adrenaline building up I think, whereas Juju finds ways to use it.
How are you and baby A?

wild hb how are you getting on?

I have another growth scan today which I hope will go well as I am still trying to get transferred to the birth centre from consultant care. I just hope the baby has put on enough weight that they don't find new things to be concerned about as he was measuring a bit small last time (round about the 20th percentile).

RevoltingPeasant · 04/08/2015 12:47

Hi all! I'm checking in from........WORK! Just finished mat leave on Monday. Dodo is at nursery and so far seems happy enough. I'm just working half-days this week so off to pick her up in 45 minutes.

Checking in hoping for good news from bushy!

and pearl don't worry too much about centiles etc. I know it all seems desperately important now but Dodo is on the 2nd centile, never mind the 20th, and is absolutely normal and hitting all her milestones. Some babies are just small. I know it's different when they're in utero and the drs are hinting at all kinds, but chances are your baby is absolutely fine and just a tiddler. Remember, in order for centile charts to work, SOMEONE needs to be on the 1st and on the 99th centiles, and those are all within the normal range!!

pearlcrystal · 04/08/2015 16:51

Thank you rp! Had a lovely consultant today who was so encouraging and helpful and said all was lovely with the baby, not mentioning how dinky he was at all ( he is stil around 20% so gaining weight as he should) . To be honest I'm only 5'2" myself so can't expect s giant baby.
Biggest thing though is that she signed me back to midwife care!!! This is amazing for me because it means that I can use the birth centre and just be treated as low risk which I have wanted for ages. Head is engaged now (3/5) and just 2/5 palpable.

How are you coping with being back at work? How is dodo enjoying her luxury nursery?

Jelliebabe1 · 04/08/2015 21:41

Brilliant news Pearl! Glad you've got the chance to use the birth centre. I wish I could. As it is the Nct classes have opened my eyes a little. When I saw the consultant, she was very "this is how is going to be". Next time I go I think I'm going to question her a bit more about when things need to happen etc. Ie she says I'll have to have two monitors on (tummy and babies head) which means I won't be able to move at all, let alone have any sort of active birth. So lots more questions to ask!

What book is it you're reading pearl? Can't believe you're only 17 days away! How exciting! Grin

RP work! Noooooooo! Hope it was all okay! Was it nice to be back or not?

Anyway! I had a lovely weekend. Think we've settled on the out n about nipper for a pushchair /pram. And we've nearby finished painting in the nursery! Another job jobbed. Anyway have a good week ladies Grin

RevoltingPeasant · 05/08/2015 12:57

Oooh Jellie I see out n abouts everywhere now. They look really practical.

On the dogmatic consultant.........I know a woman who had a home birth with twins. She showed our HB support group a slideshow of it and deffo no monitors in sight! Now obvs not advising that but I just mean, don't necessarily be 'told' - you are right to ask questions - and remember SOMETIMES lots of intervention isn't 'safer' so if you feel in your gut that something isn't right, ask! :)

Pearl great news! Yeah Dodo has tracked the 2nd centile since a few days old. That's what really counts - it's the dramatic weight losses etc that I think are really worrying.

Work which I am already skiving off of is fine. Dodo seems to enjoy nursery. When I dropped her off yesterday she immediately stuffed a red plastic crab into her mouth and ignored my feeble attempts at a good-bye...When I picked her up she didn't notice me enter the room as she was too busy having pureed apple spooned into her mouth!

Never mind, I know where I stand in the hierarchy Hmm Grin

greatbigbushybeard · 06/08/2015 07:02

Hello!! Baby Bushy is here, born 30th July at 2.01pm, weighing 7lbs 5oz. We have called her Stella Elena as we think of her as a bright star that came & brightened up our lives at a v dark time. She is absolutely gorgeous & we feel v blessed. I will fill you in on the birth later ( had to be induced) on a 2nd post as am trying to feed then get her to have a sleep. I should be able to attach a picky too. Lovely to hear you are all doing well, catch up properly soon. X x

Tearing up here Bushy. Lovely news. She is gorgeous and I love her name and your reason for choosing it. Flowers

ladybunnikins · 06/08/2015 09:07

Congratulations Bushy! What a beautiful name. Looking forward to a picture! x

nolly3 · 06/08/2015 15:50

Bushy so pleased for you! what a gorgeous girl and name. Congrats - it's been a long time coming, now enjoy! x

pearlcrystal · 06/08/2015 16:19

Congratulations bushy - she's gorgeous and the name you've chosen is really lovely!!! So glad all is well and she arrived safely. Do tell us about the labour story and how you've got on in the first week when you can.

Jellie make sure you do question the consultant about your options. I know for some twin births at least in our area they just automatically put you down for a c section at 37 weeks but definitely ask about other options. By the way the delivery suites in my hospital are pretty good and they even have one with a pool so being under consultant care is not as bad as it sounds but you definitely don't need to go along with everything they want. Did you get given the 'brains' acronym at nct for asking questions of medical staff? I found it helpful when wanting to find out more about options.
rp glad all is going well in Dodo's nursery that must be a big relief!

Wifey99 · 06/08/2015 17:06
