I am 41 RP. I have to say I wasn't cross with what the MW said. I think in my head that I'd probably be sick of my life at 40 weeks and desperate to have the baby by then. Keeping an open mind at this point and will worry about inductions nearer the time. Need to prioritise worrying for the 12 week scan and the NIFTY test for now.

pearlcrystal · 10/06/2015 08:04

gillwoohooo for the MW appointment and upcoming scan! I had a nifty at 11 weeks and for us it was the best thing, saving us from many weeks of worry and trying to make a decision regarding whether we would have an amnio or not if the 12 week scan came back high risk. Regarding the induction at 40 weeks for the over 4-0s - I also have a friend who went through the same and ended up with a c section ( baby was a whole 30% bigger than what was calculated on the growth scan - seriously how can that be??!?) There was a lot of pressure on her to be induced but no regrets that she went for it as she has a gorgeous little boy. As you say, something you can read up on closer to the time and make your own decision.

rp thank you for the advice, it's so valuable at this stage as I am beginning to panic a little about actually having the baby - both in terms of labour and raking care of it afterwards ( just a little though - I am still feeling overwhelmingly excited and in disbelief that this is actually happening). Will definitely get the wonder weeks app, unless you think the book is the way to go?

hb how are you doing? When is your first scan?

bushy what happened with the chicken pox? Hope you're ok...

AFM looking forward to being 30 weeks on Friday and loving feeling lots of movement from the baby. He has a huge repertoire at this stage - hiccups, kicks, swirls, tickles, whole body moves. It's almost constant. I've been suffering a bit from a return of nausea and soreness in the back and lower abdomen- but that has been helped by wearing a bump belt and also getting some more back support at work, highly recommended if anyone else is having growing pains.

Less than 6 weeks of work to go ... It's all starting to feel a little more real now.

Jelliebabe1 · 10/06/2015 17:02

Gill - diet and exercise going really well.... I put on 4lbs last week! Shock I think it was a combination of not doing so well food wise, constipation and my ever present cankles... Much better this week - I have been walking AND went to Yoga. I'm crap at yoga. All of my fatness gets in the way and I'm not as flexible as I thought! But I sleep like a log after and the other girls there are all really lovely! And the instructor is a friend of mine (just 2 weeks ahead of me too!) I'm also taking aspirin, but prescribed to ward off the ole pre-eclampsia. And Im making a lovelyi pattern on my tum with my fragmin injections. Looks like a horror movie.

Next scan Friday! EEEEEEEP Holiday Saturday YEEHAAAAA Grin

HampshireBlues · 10/06/2015 19:06

Hi all, just back from the clinic and we have one tiny heartbeat. So happy and relieved. There is an empty egg sac as well so we are going back in a couple of weeks to see what that is doing so that should help bridge the huge gap between now and 12 weeks.

Jellie it's lovely to see you're doing ok; fragmin is a sod and I am also black and blue. Still if it helps.....

pearlcrystal · 10/06/2015 20:25

hb yeah!! That's brilliant news - so happy for you!

jellie is that your 20 week scan already?? Can't believe how quickly that's happened. Funny how other peoples pregnancies seem to move forward a lot faster than your own. You can talk about weight gain and inflexibility all you like - you are still my hero for growing 2 babies you amazing lady!

RevoltingPeasant · 10/06/2015 23:09

HB how very lovely Flowers massive congrats. It's just baby steps now but you know having seen a HB higely increases the chances of a good outcome :)

Gill yeah sorry, getting ahead of myself Blush

Jellie will you find out the sex- or should I say, sexes?! Exciting!!

Pearl I am a cheapskate and just use the website. Friends swear by the app though. Honestly what do I know though, I have only been doing this for 4.5 mos! :) but yeah, I remember having a recurrent dream that I forgot to feed my baby for a day and was rushing back to it, hoping it was still okay.

We had a lovely moment today at postnatal pilates. Dodo woke up during it so I was doing the exercises with her "helping". At one point she was sat on my pelvis as I was doing shoulder bridges, and she suddenly got a massive fit of baby giggles and just couldn't stop. She was laughing so loudly the instructor had to stop what she was saying whilst the rest of the mums pissed themselves, and she didn't stop till we moved to another exercise Grin

Jelliebabe1 · 13/06/2015 09:03

Rp! That's too cute! Nothing nicer than baby giggles you just can't help but join in!

Pearl - tell !me about it! It does seem to be whzzing by... I think it's because I literally seem to have an appointment every fortnight its never too log to wait! And you're right I don't think 4lbs total is bad for 20 weeks!

HB! That's brilliant news. How many weeks are you? Fun nets xd for the next scan!

Well we had the 20 week scan yesterday and all is going really well. Twin A didn't consent to get everything measured so we have to go again in a few weeks. However twin B was behaving perfectly and posing like a goodun! The level of detail is amazing!

And...... ((Drumroll please)) she thinks they are both girls!

Well, you could knock me down with a feather ! I can picture myself with two boys but two girls didn't really enter my head! Of course I knew it was a possibility but completely gobsmacked here! In a good way Grin. There's so many nice girl things! Anyway will ask them to confirm at the next couple of scans as she wasn't 100%. But I think they have to say that...

RevoltingPeasant · 13/06/2015 12:26

Ooooh double DDs!

Congrats.

And yes, dressing two little girls will be very sweet. John Lewis has lovely stuff that washes well or if you are on more of a budget, Morrisons Nutmeg range or Sainbos clothes for babies both good value and stylish. Also Mothercare do awesome sales if you keep an eye out.

HampshireBlues · 13/06/2015 14:40

Jellie that is amazing news, congrats!

RP that is beyond cute; there is nothing nicer that hearing a baby giggle. Dodo sounds delightful.

Saw the GP today and she has kindly prescribed all the stuff I need for the next few months so that is good, and we are booked in to see the MW. It is suddenly feeling a bit more real.

RevoltingPeasant · 13/06/2015 22:32

Full steam ahead HB! What date is your scan?

Pixie001 · 14/06/2015 20:06

Hb glad all progressing as should at this stage. The anxiety never stops but those first few weeks especially tough.
Jellie how you're having an amazing hol. Look after the girls. Sorry one was awkward at scan but nice to get to go back again.

Gill what news from nifty? How long for results?
Rp dodo giggling sounds awesome. I want one
Pearl you seem super organised and knowledgeable! Are they tips from friends or manic googling?! Have you already done all your shopping and got hospital bag packed Smile
Bushy how long for you now? How you feeling?

Gillster · 14/06/2015 22:50

Hi Pixie, how many weeks are you now? How long do you have left at work? Have you bought much stuff yet?

Nifty is booked for Thurs. Feel relatively calm at the moment but sure I'll be a nervous wreck by then.

Was at an old Uni friend's house party down south yesterday. Was nice to tell a couple of friends our news. They and their partners were so excited for us and one even said it was the best news she'd had all year. Smile

pearlcrystal · 15/06/2015 21:40

gill good luck with the nifty! When I was having mine and worrying about the wait for the results, one of the berries (I think feather) let me know that she found the scan itself really reassuring and it was the same for me, we came out of the test feeling really positive, in spite of not hearing the results for another week or so.

pixie I think it's just my way of getting ready for anything especially something I am excited about. I am a bit obsessive in terms of research, list making, etc and my friends and the berries have been brilliant in helping with any questions and advice. Hospital bag not quite packed yet but I've got most of the stuff for it now, so will try to get it together in the next week or two. How are you doing? Thinking about the birth yet - do you know where you'd like to be?

rp dodo sounds very lovely, it's great that you are enjoying your mat leave and time together! I remember you had a home birth. Did you do much to prepare for it like hypnobirthing, perineal massage or anything like that?

jellie hope you're having a brilliant holiday!

pearlcrystal · 17/06/2015 23:01

Great gill will update when next on the big screen. Good luck for tomorrow. Please pop by to tell us how the scan went.

greatbigbushybeard · 17/06/2015 23:09

Well hello everyone. All fine with me just been a bit slack about checking on here. Lovely to catch up & v chuffed with the scan news. Wow Jellie- twin girls!! Bless Dodo at your Pilates class Rp. I'm immune to chicKen pox so pleased about that. Baby v active, gets into some uncomfortable spots!! Starting to get a bit of heartburn & wicked belches but other than that all good!!

RevoltingPeasant · 17/06/2015 23:18

Bushy..... Like you need me to tell you, but....NEXT MONTH you will have a baby!!!

How crazy is that? After all you have been through. Wow :)

Pearl I did perineal massage but not sure how much it helped as had second degree tear Confused yes to hypnobirthing! Which was no chuffing use in my record-speed labour but it totally helped with anxieties beforehand and I think carried me through a silent first stage of labour (0-4cm) so I "woke up" to labour in the active phase. Are you having a HB?

Argh 4 mo sleep regression killing me. Dodo has gone from sleeping 11-7 sweetly, to waking two hourly all night!

But then in the morning when I wake up and she sees me looking at her she gives a wriggle of delight and waves her little pyjama clad limbs around to greet me. Who could mind then?

Gillster · 18/06/2015 10:33

So had my private scan and blood test this morning and it turns out that there is a baby in there and I'm not just getting fat! The baby is quite active (clearly takes after DH) and growing slightly ahead of schedule. Nothing from the scan suggests any issues but we'll obviously know more when I get the results back. Here's a pic of the mini Gillster.

chloechloe · 18/06/2015 11:36

Gorgeous photo gilster! Hope you can start to relax a little and enjoy the pregnancy now. So pleased for you!

pearlcrystal · 18/06/2015 13:19

gill lovely scan pic - definitely looks like a lovely little baby! Delighted all went well. Will you be finding out the gender too?

rp yes I remember your speedy and heroic labour. Unfortunately I can't have a HB because of problems with my womb but I am going to try to get assigned back to midwife care next time I have a consultant appt in July so I can use the birth centre rather than delivery suite (they're right next to each other in my hospital). I am doing hypnobirthing - it feels quite natural to me as I meditate anyway but I'm not averse to pain relief if that's what feels right at the time. Been watching lots of birthing videos and reading about labour as a positive experience rather than something to be frightened of which has been really helpful.

chloe how are you doing?? How is your LO

bushy so glad you're well and the chicken pox scare is all done. Can't remember if you already told us but what gave you got planned for your labour? Where will you be?

Gillster · 19/06/2015 03:35

We're not going to find out the gender Pearl, I want a surprise.

Gosh, not long to summer Berry cluster birth! All eyes on Bushy.

Jelliebabe1 · 19/06/2015 13:16

Gill! Brilliant scan news! Grin

Sat poolside! Keeping to the shade as skin seems more sensitive. Also don't want to cook the bubs Grin

FeatherFeather11 · 22/06/2015 14:04

My goodness! So much going on! I'm so sorry I've been such a rubbish Berrie of late. I really don't know where the time goes anymore! Great to hear everyone is doing so well. bushy I can't believe it's nearly your time!!
gill so pleased for you re scan! Yay!
rp I'm just waiting for the sleep regression to hit us. C has started teething so spends a lot of time chewing on stuff at the mo. She's still sleeping 8-6 with one feed between 2-4am, but I have a feeling that will change soon. Can't believe she's 18 weeks already!
For whoever was asking: I'm all for hypnobirthing etc. as RP said, if anything, it helps with pre-birth anxiety. Personally, I think the hypno was what kept me going when I was induced. Was only on gas and air for 17 hours before the shit hit the fan and I had an epidural.

Promise to be a better Berrie. I'm always keeping up with news but hard to write back. Have been with you all in spirit!
