11 weeks pregnant but symptoms have vanished!

I'm 11 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have struggled grasp the concept since the start... The pregnancy was totally unplanned, a total shock as we were using protection. We found out at 6 weeks (which was 4 weeks before we were due to get married) and to begin with I was a state. That said, now my husband (of one week!) and I have grown accustomed to the idea, although we're daunted we are so excited to be having a son or daughter and have grown quite attached to him or her already :)

I have my dating scan next Thursday but I am so, so terrified that nothing is going to show up. To begin with I had terrible morning sickness, sore boobs and tiredness but my symptoms have all but vanished. I am not showing anything at all and I am worried that whole thing might never really have developed in the first place. I know it sounds ridiculous but it has actually been keeping me up at night, especially as we took the opportunity to tell a lot of our close friends and family from Holland at our wedding when I was 10 weeks.

Is it normal for symptoms to disappear suddenly before the end of the first trimester? I've not had any bleeding but haven't felt anything for over a week :( I've never wanted to feel sick so badly! I'm a massive worrier by nature, I suppose I just need some reassurance from people who have been there and know more than me!

Hello

My baby is 3 months old. My symptoms went away around 9 weeks and never returned so I wouldnt worry they can come and go at any point its normal for them to start leaving from typically 12 weeks onwards but as I said mines went before.

So dont worry Smile

Kakeypoos · 26/11/2014 17:49

Thanks very much, that's really reassuring :) xx

Hi Kakey,

I'm 12+4 and my symptoms (nausea, painful boobs) definitely decreased a lot at 11 weeks. As the other poster said it is normal and to do with the placenta taking over hormone production (I think - someone wise correct me if I'm wrong. I saw a happy wiggly baby at my dating scan so am starting to relax a bit about the change in symptoms.

I'd encourage you to come and join us on the June AN bus if you haven't already. There are lots of lovely ladies there sharing the concerns and tips of the journey together.

I'm only 9 weeks pg with twins and I'm not having any symptoms at all. I felt really sick between 4 weeks and 7. I went for an early scan and 2 strong heartbeats. So, I think everyone's different :)

Bustherb · 26/11/2014 19:35

I'm 8 weeks and I started having terrible morning sickness about a week ago. We had an early scan on Sunday and heard a strong heartbeat. The sickness is starting to calm down a bit now and I'm just putting it down to my hormones calming down, although I'm still sick a lot but feel better in myself xxx

Emilyjane11 · 26/11/2014 19:48

Hi OP, im in the same position as you, im 8+3 and had bad morning sickness for a week but woke up Monday and nothing.
It's terrifying me also that we will go to the scan and there will be nothing there. I can't offer you an reassurance at this time but I can tell you your not on your own. I feel exactly the same xxxx

makeitabetterplace · 26/11/2014 19:51

My symptoms went away about 11 weeks and I too thought they'd scan me and find nothing. It all came back with aplomb at about 16 weeks so make the most of this hiatus! And enjoy your scan Smile

DanyStormborn · 26/11/2014 20:04

It is normal for your symptoms to go around the end of the first trimester as the placenta takes over. I was terrified of my first scan but it was absolutely fine. My nausea was awful but vanished completely along with the sore boobs around 12 weeks.

m33r · 26/11/2014 21:50

The hormones also come in 'Waves' so you can go a few days or weeks without.

Sarkymare · 26/11/2014 23:03

I believe that your hormones start levelling off at about this stage. Most symptoms are caused by the surge of hormones, not just the hormones themselves which is why a lot of women report symptoms going AWOL towards the end of the 1st trimester --

Push it to the back of your mind.

Congratulations on both your wedding and pregnancy :)

Hi ladies, I'd love a bit of support here too- I'm 9 weeks and terrified that something has happened- I used to be peeing all the time, but the last couple of days it's almost gone back to normal and I don't feel pregnant at all. I've got our dating scan a week Monday, so trying to hold on and be positive until then. Anyone else had this? xxx

PregnantAndEngaged · 27/11/2014 10:52

I'm 10 weeks and pretty much in the same situation as you - unexpected pregnancy, initially we were both a state, now excited and now the idea of losing the baby breaks my heart. I too find that I don't really 'feel' pregnant at the moment. It doesn't help that I never had proper morning sickness only slight nausea. The only things I notice are very subtle e.g. when I rinse my mouth after cleaning my teeth, I gag (now that could just be a gag reflex but I do feel that I have become a bit more sensitive since being pregnant) and I get the very occasional (once every few days) crampy/stretchy pain in my womb for a few seconds and then it goes.

It is awful but I think the only thing you (and I) can do is sit tight and wait for the scan, sadly :(

If it helps, I remember early in pregnancy I was convinced I wasn't actually pregnant, but I had a car accident so I went for a scan at 6 weeks and the baby was there, a little tiny 'blob' with a full-stop for a ticker! :)

I think it helps to know that this is a very common experience and that in the majority of cases things do turn out to be normal.

Kakeypoos · 27/11/2014 16:29

Wow, thank you so much for all your responses ladies, I am touched. Although I was sorry to read there are others in the same position, it has really helped me to know I'm not alone and that there are plenty of people whose symptoms have died off who have gone on to have normal pregnancies. Dating scan is a week today so I'll keep you posted and hopefully be able to reassure others who are having the same worries. xxxx

Just thought Id tell you that my morning sickness came to an abrupt end on Monday and today I spotted. I went for a early internal scan and baby is fine and has lovely heart beat :) try and stay positive, everything will be fine x

AnythingNotEverything · 27/11/2014 21:16

I'm 10/11 weeks and have had a sudden huge burst of energy this week and the nausea seems to have gone. As pp said, it's just your placenta taking over.

And yes, come join us on the June antenatal thread. We're lovely and the earlier ladies are sharing scan pics Grin

junebug23 · 28/11/2014 07:13

I logged on with the same concern last night. I'm nearly 10 weeks and my nausea has disappeared and I'm beginning to get my normal energy levels back. Feeling decidedly 'unpregnant' after being nauseous from 5 weeks! I'm even less worried about it after reading the above comments. I'm taking it as a blessing to feel a bit more normal and am fully aware that it may come back. Everyone's different and every pregnancy is different too so I guess we have to trust that our bodies know exactly what they're doing, even if it's all new to us!

Kakeypoos · 04/12/2014 14:36

Hi guys, I just want to say thank you so much for your feedback and responses, it means so much that you've taken the time to share your experiences with me :)

I have just come back from my 12 week scan and I'm delighted to say that the baby is there :) we could see the umbilical cord pulsing nicely and the scan picture we have is lovely and clear. It was very much a 'wow' moment! I hope that reassures others in the same boat.

I'm going to log onto the June Antenatal thread now. How exciting it all is.

xx

I’ve just read this, I hope you and the little one (or not so little one!) are doing well....
I’m 12 weeks pregnant and my symptoms have been fading over the past 2 weeks to almost nothing now. Had a lot of stress, and I haven’t helped myself as I’m a total worrier anyways, but it’s really helped me.

I’ve got my first scan just after Christmas, they seem to be doing them at 13 weeks now round my area.

Sedouglas1990 · 10/04/2020 14:39

This thread has made me feel so much better.
I’m 11 weeks pregnant today. From around weeks 5-10+4 I had sore breasts but no other symptoms except for a bit of tiredness which subsided a few weeks ago.
My breasts stopped hurting and 2 days later I experienced a small amount of cramping and spotting. Now nothing since. I have my dating scan in 10 days so I’m crossing my fingers until then. X

Emma432 · 07/05/2020 14:38

Hi Sedouglas1990

How did your dating scan go?

I’m 11+1 weeks today and last night and today I’ve had some light pink bleeding. My symptoms also disappeared a day or two ago x

Sedouglas1990 · 07/05/2020 15:32

Hi Emma432,

My scan was perfect, no issues at all. I in did have some brownish bleeding on the morning of my scan so it was a big relief for me. No symptoms have really returned so I think I’m just having an easy pregnancy! Is your scan soon? X

sel2223 · 07/05/2020 16:28

11 weeks was a real turning point for me when I finally started to feel more normal....The symptoms did return on and off after that but nothing like weeks 6/7-11.

ManDubsMum · 08/05/2020 15:25

Hi everyone. This is what i feel at the moment. Am 11 weeks 3days gone. I dnt feel anything at all . Just that at night i feel hot and sweat a bit. Asides that nothing. I have my scan later next week and i wonder if my baby is there. I had a miscarriage in Jan wher i bled frm week 5 and wen i went for scan at 11 weeks , there was no baby . I later miscarried before week 12 with big clots of blood. Sighs* . I have no other choice than to wait for the scan and believe all is well. Funny thing is that this time around no bleeds at all. Everything going well. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Smile

ManDubsMum · 14/05/2020 13:42

Just an update . God is good and He alone is a faithful God . I just finished my scan and there on the screen was my baby moving up and down. The sonographer had to comment that this is a very active child. Am happy . To God be the glory. I wish everyone well. God who started this great work of creation would perfect it .
