How long did you stay in after section?

I really don't think I'm going to be in a rush to get home but midwives kept saying other week that I can leave after 1 or 2 nights if everything's ok... Will they let me stay longer ?! Id also probably rather host visitors at hospital than home!
Of course I mihht change my mind when stuck on a maternity ward so just wanted some insights!

With ds1, I was in for about 5 days after section (very anaemic considering blood transfusion, breast-feeding wasn't going well and couldn't get ds1 to feed for first 2 days).

With ds2, I was out on the 2nd day after the section. I had a much better idea what to expect, was given different drugs during the section, which didn't make me feel so ill as with ds1 and just generally better experience all round.

I found what helped a lot with ds2 was rearranging the house in advance so I didn't need to go upstairs for the first week or so. We have a spare bedroom downstairs, so I moved into that and had everything I needed within easy reach. The pram was permanently set up in the hall, so I could just plonk ds2 in and leave the house as soon as I felt ready. With ds1, I hadn't thought about, or planned any of those practicalities!

With both of mine I went in on the Wednesday night, CS during the night/early hours of the morning, then home on Sunday.

I wanted to come home earlier with my first because I was ready, but DP suggested I stayed the extra night - I think he needed it more than me! The second (and last!), I wanted the extra day with just me and my baby...

With my first emcs I was in for 2 nights after I think. With my 2nd elcs, I was out within 24 hours. I was happy with that though, I imagine if I'd wanted to stay the night they would have let me.

Emcs Wednesday pm and was home by 10am on the Friday

2 nights after my emcs. Wanted to leave earlier and felt ok to do so, but my blood pressure was high so they scared me into staying in the full two nights. I hated it though and was so relieved to leave!

I stayed 3 nights. Wasn't ready to go home after 2 nights but was ready after 3.

It used to be five days minimum,I think I was in for about a week.

I stayed 6 nights as I was poorly and baby not feeding well. Was happier at home as DH couldn't stay so I was responsible for DS thru the night with very little support as staff so busy! Was definitely easier at home!!

i had a planned c section with my daughter and was kept in nearly a week because i was pretty young all i wanted was to go home things may have changed now tho xx

one night after emcs. was desperate to go home as knew my husband would look after me and the midwives were so overstretched. with hindsight should have probably stayed another night.

5 for me too because of transfusions etc for me and dd had jaundice and needed light therapy.

Post natal wards are places of your worst nightmare. You won't want to linger there. No sleep and so noisy at night.

You'll recover better at home, in peace.

I was out within 24 hours for both EMCS & ELCS. Fairly standard where I am unless probs with blood loss or feeding.

I had my son by emergency section on the Monday and we went home at Saturday lunch time. I wanted to go home earlier.

5 days with first, 4 with second. Quite happy to stay in while the various checks are done, rather than having to return to the hospital. Liked having visitors "controlled" via visiting hours, and could stare at newborn while not worrying about pfb being jealous!

7 nights with dd as we had feeding problems.
I'm hoping for just one night this time.

Approx 48 hours with no option to stay longer.
Actually I think the 2nd was less than 48 hours with no wish to stay a moment longer...

48 hrs was standard at my hospital, but I was discharged after 36 (2 nights, as the section was late in the evening).

I had DD at 11pm on the saturday night and was discharged at 6pm on the monday.

They tried to get me to go home on the Sunday lunchtime but I refused as i didnt feel well enough.

A week. But I was poorly - iron and blood transfusion, epi headache.
As soon as I had that blood patch I was outta there!

24 hours after both EMCS & ELCS - the minimum they would allow. Couldn't wait to get back home & into my own space

Had DS late Tues morning and was discharged Friday lunchtime. The postnatal ward is so noisy, I got no sleep, I was glad to get home. Looking likely that I will have elcs with DC2, dreading the postnatal ward but hoping I won't be so done in beforehand this time.
