I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Ugh DS off school with this bug, he's got a rotten cough and bad diarrhoea which I just can't deal with at the moment, my nausea is terrible. Every time I move I retch. He was in my bed all night and I hardly had any sleep and now I'm just being grumpy and snappy. Feel like the worst mum in the world.

elizabethsmum · 01/12/2014 11:36

bas poor you and DS. you have been through so much. you are not the worst mum in the world. hope ds better soon and you manage a bit more sleep tonight. take care and ((((hugs))) xx

LucindaE · 01/12/2014 17:03

ToriB34 There's all sorts of meds you can try - don't despair. Meerka gave a list just a few posts ago on the order they tend to try them in. so don't hesitate to do as I say, not as I did, and ask for more. The nausea is very wearing and miserable and also can prevent you taking in enough liquids, let alone food.
basgetti Oh no, poor you. It's very exhausiting looking over sick children at the best of times.
kalidasa So glad you g-r-a-d-a-l-l-y approach the end. Good luckfor the further tests.
elizabethsmum That sounds like a migraine to me - with a normal headache you wouldn't feel sick or have to lie down in a darkened room. I hope, though, it may have been the bug that is going round where people are complaining of pains in the head and nausea. I'd love to see your blog, I'll have a look at it now.
Waves to DurhamRed and everybody. Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.
xx

Another shocker today for me, I had to go back to the hospital first thing to see the consultant, managed to keep it together while there but threw up as soon as I got home. Have been lying motionless the rest of the day but feel dreadful, only managing to eat olives and the occasional biscuit. Am totally out of drug options. Consultant keeps offering to admit me to save me the trips in and out! Holding out for now as no ketones yet and I think it is much better for DH and DS as well as my morale to be at home, but I can't see myself managing like this for much longer. Repeat scan and monitoring on Thursday - desperately hoping the news is good at that point, in which case I won't have to go in for monitoring so often and perhaps if I could stay completely in bed for a few days with no hospital trips I might back away from the brink again a bit with the sickness!

Feel like I am back in the ghastly first half of pregnancy. Another day or so and I think I'll have to resort to the KFC Zinger burgers again!

LucindaE · 01/12/2014 19:26

Kalidasa You poor thing, how I wish I could think of something to help, but nothing comes to mind. You tried the alternative stuff ages ago. This is a real endurance test for you all. I so hope there's lot of fluid at least when they check. Gentle pats on offer.
Torinb34 I didn't realize you'd been struggling in to work. Do, please, take the time off to make that appointment and explain how bad it is. How much liquid are you managing to drink?

hello tori ... any effort tends to make HG worse. Rest, rest rest helps even if it's not pleasant to be lying around feeling nauseous.

kali glad you managed to get there today. The situation was unchanged then today? At least that means you haven't had to take the steroids for lung development yet ...

Newshoesplease, I am so sorry for your loss.

Just re-introducing myself. I was here before, DS is 9 months old and was born in Feb, meaning I was sick from June to Feb. The nausea kicked in about 6 weeks on and lasted throughout ... Lucinda will hopefully remember me.

I found out yesterday I am pregnant ( 3 positive tests ) and I am 5 weeks along. I reckon I have 2 weeks at most before I am sick again.

Also the pregnancy is a surprise to me and DH

basgetti · 02/12/2014 09:31

I'm so sorry Newshoes, glad your DH is with you. Thinking of you xx

Meerka · 02/12/2014 09:34

Hello again jen, I remember you! Was a couple months behind you. Hope your son is doing well.

jenpatnim · 02/12/2014 09:39

He is great, Meerka. I remember you too - are you back for more?

Meerka · 02/12/2014 09:49

Never left actually =) I found this thread a bit of a home and it's taken a while to get over the whole damn thing. The Pipsqueak is 7 months now and doing well. Can't face another preg though. You're very brave! :) Will you be trying to get meds early?

Raines100 · 02/12/2014 10:04

Hi ladies,

I'm 6 weeks pg today with baby no 3. My first pregnancy was non-HG and ended in a mmc, but then I had HG with my two DSs from 4 and 5 wks respectively. I'm not even nauseous yet with this one, so I think it's got to be a non-starter. Has anyone with a history of HG had a successful non-HG pregnancy, or just found their HG started later?

Flowers to cheer you all up. I remember the misery all too well...

LucindaE · 02/12/2014 10:48

It's so unfair that anyone has a miscarriage after suffering this horror.
Raines100 Welcome. Yes, several people have had healthy, normal pregnancies with mild sickness after Hyperemesis pregnancies. I received a message from one only yesterday TheDetective. So don't despair a loss is inevitable.
JenPatnim I remember you well. Welcome back. A surprise is prehaps the best thing, the decision whether to dare go for it again has been taken out of your hands. How is your GP about pre-emptive meds.
I don't know what I'd do without Meerka on this thead, and elizabethsmum and Kalidasa too...
Torri It is possible to have Hyperemesis without vomiting, unfortunately, just severe, relentless nausea, which it seems isn't taken so seriously, though it can still lead to dehydration. I'm not surprised you broke down at work.
Waves to all. Newshoesplease Thinking of you.
xx
