I'm 40+1 (FTM). Had a sweep yesterday at around 10am. Immediately started getting period pain and low back pain. I stayed on my feet pretty much all day. The pain lasted until the evening when I laid down to watch telly and then fell asleep. I had absolutely no pain all night, and woke up a few times thinking it probably didn't work.

But now I'm say here in bed (6am) and the period pain has suddenly come back! Not feeling any contractions but the pain is coming in waves. Also, just went to the loo because it felt like I really needed a poo (sorry) and lots of brownish/mucousy discharge.... I'm guessing that's a show???

What do you think??

After 2 false starts last week, I don't want to get my hopes up but this feels promising!!

(DP already at work hence my speculation working it's way online...Wink)

I see the midwife tomorrow. Hoping shes gonna say that baby is really low so gonna come before my DD (11 days). Got plenty of twinges and tightening. Would it be cheeky to ask for a sweep at 38 1/2 weeks?

MumaBex · 28/10/2014 20:13

Congrats Hartmel. Lovely name Xx

Bellyrub1980 · 28/10/2014 20:36

Always worth asking I think!

I'm having contractions every 15-18 mins tonight. Pretty certain these aren't BH. They're painful and radiate from my back around to my lower abdomen and kind of sting at the peak.

Stupid question but I can't remember and DP is asleep.... How close together do they need to be to call the midwife? It will take us roughly 30 mins to get to the hospital.

It's crazy how much the baby wriggles during the contraction... Is that normal??

OP I think it's much closer together than yours are but I would ring delivery suite now and ask, and give them a heads up. They may warn you to come in anyhow, and even if they don't, then you might find the contractions speed up suddenly so you want to know now!

Good luck xx

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 28/10/2014 21:03

Hartmel congratulations!!!!!!

MumaBex · 28/10/2014 21:13

Good luck Bellyrub! I agree with RevoltingPeasant. Just give the ward a heads up. they will advise you on when they would like you to head in. X

Dogsmom · 28/10/2014 21:29

Mine said to wait until they are 2-3 minutes apart and I can't talk through the pain, I hope its the start of things for you Belly.

ElleOhElle · 28/10/2014 22:20

I think it's 3 contractions in
10 minutes but call them anyway. good luck!!!!!!! Grin

Jodie1982 · 28/10/2014 22:25

CONGRATULATIONS Hartmel!! Well done. Glad all went well. Flowers

Jodie1982 · 28/10/2014 22:26

BellyRub, your pains sound promising, sending you Labour Vibes!! Good luck and hope to hear your baby news very soon!!

Bellyrub1980 · 29/10/2014 02:40

Can't really believe I'm saying this but it's all died off.... AGAIN!

Am I so completely out of tune with my own body?!

I give up. Roll on induction in 10 days.

Bellyrub- don't give up! I had so many false labour with this baby I couldn't believe it when she arrived Tuesday morning with only 3 hours of having contractions.
Went in on Monday as I had contractions every 8 mins. After that went grocery shopping with DH. In evening everything died down. Went to bed with no contractions Smile
So don't give up!
Oh and I had induction planned for Thursday (tomorrow)

sandgrown · 29/10/2014 07:50

Congratulations Hartmel.x

ElleOhElle · 29/10/2014 08:18

bellyrub I'm sure things will get going properly soon!!
Absolutely naff all here today!! it's so frustrating - Come on baby!!!!!

Bellyrub1980 · 29/10/2014 09:55

Cheers for the encouragement! Hartmel your story is definitely giving me hope!!

I have that constant dull ache of period pain today, radiating around to my back. But not in waves, no contractions. (Better than nothing I guess!!)

My method to induce labour today is to watch the entire back catalogue of one born every minute on sky whilst bouncing on my gym ball, house work and few walks around the block.

Any news anyone??

TooMuchCantBreathe · 30/10/2014 17:46

Don't give up bellyrub, all of this stop start is frustrating but it is helping. Your body is building itself up for the grand finale! Good luck Smile

Bellyrub1980 · 30/10/2014 18:41

No news here! Infact the midwife has given me strict instructions to rest as all these BH will only be tiring my tummy muscles out, and I'll need them for proper contractions. She said labour will happen when it's ready and stop trying to force it.... whoops Blush

OP posts:
ElleOhElle · 30/10/2014 19:02

how frustrating bellyrub !!! midwife is probably right though I suppose! Wink I'm sooooo tired!

Bellyrub1980 · 30/10/2014 19:15

Will you be having a sweep tomorrow Elle?

I've been reading about putting an evening primrose oil capsule up your fanjo to soften the cervix... Confused tempted but the midwifes words 'stop trying to force it' are ringing in my ears!!

(Obsessed!!!)

OP posts:
ElleOhElle · 30/10/2014 19:30

sweep is booked for next Friday as that's my due date but hoping I can get the midwife to do something to encourage baby to get a wriggle on.

Bellyrub1980 · 30/10/2014 23:12

Hope you get some joy. No harm in asking anyway. But you never know, we might both go into labour tonight!
