Hi!
I'm now 4 days over due with my first baby. I have had a few 'niggles' but nothing significant. But i went to the loo this morning and a hell of a lot of yellowy/clear jelly-like discharge appeared. Could this be a 'show' or does the show always have blood in it?. There was definitaly no blood in what i saw though.

Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance!

It doesn't always have blood in it. That sounds like a show.

CarolinaMoon · 30/09/2006 12:07

it sounds like a show

it doesn't have to have blood in it - it is a mucus plug and would only have blood in it if your cervix had bled a bit AFAIK.

colditz · 30/09/2006 12:08

My show wasn't bloody, just looked like clear whitish jelly (boak)

Ooooooo baby's coming!

jenny260906 · 30/09/2006 12:10

thanks everyone!

Oh pleeease let it be a sign!!!!!
we are so ready for him to arrive plus i want a home birth so the sooner he comes the better to avoid the dreaded hospital induction!
Thanks!

Really personal question........have you had sex in the last couple of days? I thought I'd had a show and it turned out to be dh's contribution of prostaglandins (iyswim!!!) from the night before.

Niggles sound positive though. It's going in the right direction!

Saturn74 · 30/09/2006 14:19

LOL at Olihan's lovely eloquence - "dh's contribution of prostaglandins".

Good luck with everything, jenny.

Rosylily · 30/09/2006 17:42

Sounds like a show to me, and may the force be with you!

motherinferior · 30/09/2006 17:45

Sounds like the plug to me, too. Good luck, you!

Flossam · 30/09/2006 17:47

supposed to look like snot - mine did!!!

cmm · 01/10/2006 00:43

hi - agree with lots of the others - had similar thing 5 days before - yellow jellyish thing, they told me a show and it didn't have to have blood in apparently - hope this helps. Apparently you can be hours, days or weeks after a show to labour - everyone different - good luck!

aitch71 · 01/10/2006 01:00

colditz · 01/10/2006 13:33

jenny260906 · 01/10/2006 19:07

hello everyone!

No sign of anything yet.. now 5 days over due.
Getting a bit fed up now. Well he is going to be an October baby now instead of the September baby he was 'supposed' to be! (not that it matters!)

Midwife is coming round tomorrow to do a second membrane sweep so hopefully that will get things moving although im not holding my breath!

emzickle · 05/10/2006 09:31

My worst fear is going over due - poor you. Any news?

jenny260906 · 06/10/2006 10:03

hello!

Well he is STILL hanging on.... now 10 days over due and really really fed up!
My husband thinks he is 'dying' at the moment... he has the dreaded 'man cold'... you know the type... a cold far worse than any woman could ever have. All i get is sniff sniff, cough cough, moan moan... moan moan.. moan moan!!!! so have had hardly any sleep the last few days as he is keeping me awake... and if its not him its the baby being extremely wriggly (between 11pm and 12:30 then again around 3 am!) so im shattered and the baby isn't even here yet!

Midwife is coming round sometime today... could be this morning, could be this afternoon... so i had to get up early just in case she came early and surprise surprise she's not been yet! typical!

having another sweep today (3rd one)... can't see the point really but i suppose its worth a try!
Thanks for the tip about cold water i will give that a go.

One of my friend's sister in law does reflexology (which i didnt know about til a few days ago) and has suggested a session to try to bring on labour... what do you all reckon? i have very ticklish feet which is what is putting me off a bit!

Jenny - typical of a man to make it all about himself despite the fact that you are the one who's more then nine months pregnant! I hope you don't get his cold. Can you sleep apart tonight? Maybe then you'll get more sleep. The sweep might work - it's certainly worth a try!

jenny260906 · 06/10/2006 10:25

if i do catch his cold (i woke up this morning with a bit of a snuffle but im ok now) then what will happen in hospital? surely they won't want be coughing and sneezing all over the other mums and babies?
Will they keep me away from everyone?
