At my 25 week check today the mw commented that I am A+ and it was a good blood type as in her personal experience A+ves have quick labours.

She was referring to her experience on the wards, just wondering what your experiences are and if they back up her findings? I'm intrigued!

A+ two very quick and easy labours.

Greenstone · 08/10/2014 14:35

This is really interesting, if a bit mad :) I thought I'd heard all the old wives' tales by now.

B+. It was medium length, very painful, straightforward, good recovery.

devoncreamtea · 08/10/2014 15:27

O+ all shot out.

BadRoly · 08/10/2014 15:30

A but can't remember if + or - (it's the common one that isn't an issue though).

Labour 1 - 3hrs
Labour 2 - 1hr
Labour 3 - 5 contractions!

I did have 'false' labours with irregular contractions during the day before going into 'established' labour with each one though Smile

PrincessOfChina · 08/10/2014 15:33

A+

Four day labour, three lots of pethidine, an hour or so pushing and ended with an EMCS.

Pegglebot · 08/10/2014 16:03

O + and quick (second time extremely so) uncomplicated labours, hoping it will be the same third time around!

Pointlessfan · 08/10/2014 16:12

O- and had a long labour following induction and ending with emergency section.

ln1981 · 08/10/2014 16:49

O +ve.
Ds 1-induction. Back to back for most of my labour(about 21hrs from drip being put in). Ended in Emcs.
Dd-natural birth but long (18hrs) and painful as back to back again. She also turned whilst coming out and tore me to shreds!! Ended up losing quite alot of blood and gaining an awful lot of stitches!
Ds2-natural birth. Again back to back for most of my labour, though somehow managed on G&A (no anaesthetist available so probably just got on with it!). His labour was only 9hours though

Bellyrub1980 · 08/10/2014 16:50

I'm A+ and due in 2 1/2 weeks so perfectly happy to accept this theory as scientific fact!

ScarletButterfly · 08/10/2014 16:53

A+ 15 hour labour, back to back. DD went into distress at about 4 hours in and was finally born via ventouse.

magichandles · 08/10/2014 16:56

I'm O-

DD1 - 7 hours in total, 2.5 active labour. Small episiotomy.
DS - Induced - 8.5 hours in total - 1.5 active labour. No complications.
DD2 - will let you know on Friday!

jimblejambles · 08/10/2014 16:59

O-
Labour 1: 12 hours
Labour 2: 6 hours
Labour 3: 90 minutes

All straightforward although I lost a bit of blood in labour 3

yazz21 · 08/10/2014 17:20

O+
1hr 15mins, no pain relief, no complications :)
Hoping 2nd will be the same

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 08/10/2014 17:22

O-

3 very quick, very straightforward labours and deliveries.

RetroHippy · 08/10/2014 17:31

Wow, I think this is the most replies I've ever had to a thread! Now; who is currently 'relaxing' on mat leave and can collate all these labour times into a nice spreadsheet...?! Bit of statistical analysis and we'll be able to say with absolute confidence if it's bollocks or not Grin

iwantittobepink · 08/10/2014 17:51

Im A+, and my first and only labour so far was 4.5 hours, and relatively easy (I didn't realise I was actually in labour, i thought I was having braxton hicks and got to 10cm at home!)... although don't get me wrong, it was still painful just not as bad as i was expecting :)

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 08/10/2014 18:20

A+
First birth induced but relatively easy.
Second and third births : a walk in the park

marthabear · 08/10/2014 18:21

What a load of bollocks. No connection whatsoever.

nervousnelly1001 · 08/10/2014 18:29

0+ and it was awful

Funkytown · 08/10/2014 18:30

b positive
two very quick labours 3 hours first baby 1 hour 2nd baby no pain relief no cuts

Fitzers · 08/10/2014 18:33

O- two day induction, DS born on 3rd day via forceps and episiotomy

Induction seems to run in the family. My mother went over on her two pregnancies, including with twins which is very unusual, and had to be induced both times. She has a different blood type to me though.

jacks365 · 08/10/2014 18:38

O-

Dc 1 took 2 hours, DC2-4 took between 20 mins and 30 mins.

2 born on due date which is very unusual.

Fitzers · 08/10/2014 18:38

Just to be more specific time wise it was a total of 53 hrs from start of induction to birth.....

Safmellow · 08/10/2014 18:39

O neg.

30 hour labour, pph at end.

Though my mother is a completely different group (think A pos) and she had a similar labour to me.

Wadingthroughsoup · 08/10/2014 18:40

Strange theory.

I'm A+ and had two fast and straightforward labours. No drugs needed, no stitches etc.
