Did you 'just know'?

I'm trying for my second child and am getting excited at the possibility that soon...I could be pregnant.

Curious - when any of you got pregnant - did you 'just' know? Like an intuition thing?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AtrociousCircumstance · 01/10/2014 10:21

I did. I just felt certain that I was. I felt different in an undefinable way and my sense of smell hiked up. Although of course I realise the 'knowing' could have been coincidence.

But I 'knew' practically the day afterwards, even though I later got two negative pregnancy tests. After each one came back negative I said to DH, 'I know I'm being daft, but I still feel like I am pregnant...'

The third test was bfp.

freshlysharpenedpencils · 01/10/2014 10:24

i love that!

Yes. I just knew. I had negative tests and everything. In my first pregnancy I tested negative over and over again before finally getting a positive.

In my second pregnancy I tested negative and I just ignored it because I knew it was wrong.

freshlysharpenedpencils · 01/10/2014 10:25

how did you know?

OP posts:
smokeandglitter · 01/10/2014 10:25

Yes, I also got a negative but after a later positive am now definitely 15 weeks pregnant!

I am very intune with my body though. I can't imagine how people don't notice, I felt so different, but perhaps they just really don't feel different at all.

freshlysharpenedpencils · 01/10/2014 10:26

I felt like i just knew with my first pregnancy. But then...the 'just knowing' could be that I 'just knew' I had been careless! So glad I was.

I knew when we had sex. It was just a feeling. I remember thinking 'I think that did it!' I did a test just one week later after my sense of smell went through the roof and I did a massive gag while pouring some off milk down the sink.

treaclesoda · 01/10/2014 10:28

First time I knew because I felt achey, fatiguey, my sense of smell went bonkers, sore boobs, nausea and generally a feeling of 'I've never felt like this before, what could it be?'.

Second time I had far fewer symptoms but somehow I had a feeling that I recognised that I was pregnant, having been so before.

Gudgyx · 01/10/2014 10:30

Nope I didnt have a clue! Was feeling a bit iffy and did a pregnancy test to rule it out, cue BFP. I was over 12 weeks when I found out!

BumpNGrind · 01/10/2014 10:32

I swear I felt implantation, I was in the shower and felt a sharp stabbing pain. I also had other symptoms and my boobs grew. I took a test and it was negative. I cried because I was so sure but put it to the back of my mind and thought myself stupid for getting so carried away.

Next month I had my bfp and it turns out I was already 7 weeks gone. Guess I should have gone with my gut instinct afterall.

Sorehead · 01/10/2014 10:40

In the months leading up to my BFP I "just knew" and had loads of (fake) symptoms....turned out to not be pregnant.

A few days before I was due on the month I got my BFP I had some light spotting and thought I was out. On the day my period was due, I felt compelled to test (which wasn't unusual) in the morning and a line came up. When I saw the test, there was no surprise or shock, it was as if the test was just confirming what I knew, which I didn't (if that makes sense?)

Good luck OP

MollyBdenum · 01/10/2014 10:45

I knew each time. With DC1 I was less sure because I had never been pregnant before, but with DS I woke up one morning a couple of days before my period was due and noticed that I felt pregnant, so I got an early response test and it was positive. I then started panicking a bit about how to tell DP as we hadn't actually been trying for a baby.

I am also absolutely certain that I was briefly pregnant in between those two children but lost the baby at around 6 weeks. I was on holiday with friends so didn't do a test, but I have no doubts.

mrshope · 01/10/2014 10:47

Absolutely no clue whatsover!
I only did a pregnancy test because I was about to start fertility treatment and you had to do a test before just in case.
I bought the cheapest test possible (having spent loads doing tests only to be heart broken when they were negative) only to see a bfp!
I could hardly believe. I actually thought it was wrong as I felt exactly the same! I was 5 weeks pregnant
The next week morning sickness, fatigue, sore boobs all hit me!
Currently sitting here feeding my 3 month old.
Miracles happen!
Good luck op

After plenty of imagined symptoms I stopped noticing. But one month when I picked up DD, I went breathless & lightheaded. That's when I 'knew' for sure. Tested immediately & was positive! Good luck!

freshlysharpenedpencils · 01/10/2014 10:51

aww!!! Mrshope that's wonderful - love all these stories. Making me really hope my feelings are correct. My boobs are sore today.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 01/10/2014 10:52

I didn't know , I was 6 weeks when I found out. I thought I had some terrible illness as all I had was a dull persistent back ache.

What a numpty - old enough to know better at 38. Missed period, unprotected sex for 4 months trying, and only did a test to prove my dp 'wrong' ha ha.

I could hardly believe it. So convinced it would be negative I did it at work. I was so excited all day I got nothing done !

Morrigu · 01/10/2014 11:02

Yep but I get ovulation pain so know when the best time is to get pregnant. All three times I've had implantation pains just before my period is due, really sore boobs and a heavy almost cystitis type feeling when peeing. I know straight away even though with dd it threw me as the pregnancy test said no, next day yes.

ohthegoats · 01/10/2014 11:09

Yes, I knew. I felt different immediately - I reckon day one. Boobs hurt, digestion slowed down, I had a weird jittery feeling like butterflies in my stomach that didn't go away.

I was in denial though - properly in denial, as in I totally carried on life as normal including booze, for a couple of weeks until I was at a science centre school trip with my class and stood in the 'womb' with a load of the boys and just though 'oh shit'. I knew it would say 'pregnant' before I did the test, although I hadn't given my boyfriend even the smallest hint until I had something concrete to show him. I needed to deal with it myself for a week or so first.

ohthegoats · 01/10/2014 11:10

a heavy almost cystitis type feeling when peeing

A yeah, I had that one too. Good description of it.

SeaSaltMill · 01/10/2014 11:17

Yes, but this time is my 4th Pregnancy (3 mc) I knew to the point that I tested at 9dpo (an all time early!) and got a faint BFP!

Littlefrenchmummy · 01/10/2014 11:27

Yes I knew... I tested 4 days before my period was due and it was negative. i threw the test away and thought I could have sworn I was pregnant :(... 40 mins later i got the test out of the bin to check again.. and it was positive !
My baby is now 9 months old !

Good luck ! xx

freshlysharpenedpencils · 01/10/2014 11:29

I had an upset stomach two random days and because I'd had a laparoscopy the previous month and my ivf appt was 10 days away I sneaking suspicion. I also had a very vivid pregnant dream followed by a dream about multiple shooting stars (I cried in the morning because I thought 'this is it'. Dream book says shooting stars means babies).

Saying all of that, I didn't 'just know' I think I had symptoms and owing to lap this would've been the most likely I'd ever have been to be pg.

Good luck op!

mrshope I loved your story!!

PretzelPrincess · 01/10/2014 11:56

I just knew I was too even though we only DTD once this month. I stopped caffeine and stopped taking painkillers etc.
I was making bolognaise and the smell was making my stomach churn. I was convinced the meat was off but DH reassured me it wasn't. That's when I knew!
I told DH I was pregnant before I actually did a test. He thought I was crazy but apparently not!
