Did you 'just know'?

I'm trying for my second child and am getting excited at the possibility that soon...I could be pregnant.

Curious - when any of you got pregnant - did you 'just' know? Like an intuition thing?

Sort of. I don't really get strong symptoms, but both times I felt slightly different. The thought suddenly popped into my head, "You should get a test". As soon as that thought entered my head, I knew the tests would be positive. They were.

Fern123 · 01/10/2014 12:36

Can't say I 'knew' with my first 2 DC's but I'm 11wks today with DC3 and I definitely knew something was up this time.
Loose bowels was first indicator but the hormones must have taken an almighty surge because I could've cried at the drop of a hat. I was playing in the garden with my baby nephew and my sis said 'Someone take a pic!' and had to put him down and walk off as I just welled up for no reason! Bizzare!
Good luck op!

CPtart · 01/10/2014 12:38

With DS1 no, not until I did the test.
DS2 absolutely. I just knew I would be pregnant from DTD. I was reading a pregnancy book days later thinking "today's implantation day " etc etc. And I was.

FishRabbit · 01/10/2014 12:46

I swear I felt implantation, and like PP said, there was one moment, immediately after sex (sitting on the loo) when I thought, "oooh, that one worked!".

But i also think, I'd been trying for a baby so maybe I imagined those things. We'd only started trying that week though, maybe I was just super optimistic. I started testing ages before my period was due and (obviously) kept getting bfn, but I knew I would be.

Love all these stories... I like the idea that we know our bodies so well. I definitely knew the first time because my boobs were sore and large and I also remember I had one glass of wine and more or less passed out - I was really tired. I really hope this feeling I have is real. I don't think my sense of smell or taste has changed... We will see....

No had no idea. I tested as I was trying and got a positive (no feeling I just tested to get a yes/no), I only started noticing symptoms after I got a positive test.

ruth1104 · 01/10/2014 18:00

yep, definitely, both times, despite negative tests to begin with. The first time I just suddenly had a sense of another person being there.. and a touch of backache, sore boobs and an ACTUAL tantrum made me test. The second I had weird intense scary dreams, and I sprayed my same old perfume one day and it suddenly smelled disgusting, then I knew... I still don't understand how people can not know for a long time!

MrsCK · 01/10/2014 18:07

Yup I absolutely knew. I texted my best friend telling her I was pg before I even tested lol. I felt full. can't really explain it apart from a shift into feeling full (not foodwise)

eastcoastmumma88 · 01/10/2014 19:24

I totally knew but was so desperate to be pregnant that I wouldnt admit it to myself until I was a week late.... And even then I did 7 pregnancy tests :p

OddFodd · 01/10/2014 19:32

Yes I always have. But I couldn't possibly explain why. I'm the least in tune with my body person you could ever hope to meet too - I never figure out what gives me heartburn or spots or anything like that and, unless I'm keeping an eye on my cycle, periods are a total surprise.

I've never been wrong either (ie I've never thought I was pregnant when I wasn't). It's very odd

pippinleaf · 01/10/2014 19:50

I KNEW several times when I wasn't and the time I actually was, I had no idea.

freshlysharpenedpencils · 01/10/2014 20:27

Congrats to you all! X

I had an inkling. I normally scoff at people saying they "just knew" about things, but within days I'd gone off prawns (v weird as I'd been making prawns curries regularly up to that week and suddenly I couldn't stomach them - we still have 2 bags in the freezer 7 months on!) and my fingernails suddenly got very long and strong overnight.

It was obviosuly an educated guess, as we had been actively TTC, but equally the previous month I was could tell that I wasn't well before my period arrived.

blankfornames · 01/10/2014 22:38

The first time, I didn't have a clue but that sadly ended up in a miscarriage. Second time, I knew before I did the test, my uber sore boobs were the give away for me!

RebeccaCloud9 · 01/10/2014 22:48

Half of me 'just knew' - I just felt different, had vivid dreams and felt dizzy/light-headed - and the other half of me was saying 'don't be daft, it's not that easy' - 1 month after coming off the pill and not even really think about TTC yet! When I saw the 'Pregnant 1-2 weeks' come up I went into shock that it was really real! About 3 weeks from EDD now. Smile

mammycampbell · 01/10/2014 23:11

Sense of smell gave it away for me too! Shopping for toiletries in superdrug and I had to walk out, the mingled pungent scents from the perfume counter made me retch. Outside on the pavement I suddenly twigged, though it was 2 days before period due. Went straight back in again, got a clear blue digi, pregnant 1-2 Grin

mammycampbell · 01/10/2014 23:13

Though I must say, I struggle with those perfume smells at non-pregnant times too!!

2014MrsH · 01/10/2014 23:16

I felt pretty certain the week my period was due. Everytime I ate something a very mild wave of nausea came over me. Plus i guess you just have this feeling inside that knew, it's hard to describe but you just know. Good luck!

DramaAlpaca · 01/10/2014 23:23

Yes, all three times I knew instinctively that I was pregnant very early on.

With my second pregnancy I just had a feeling immediately after DTD that I would conceive, and it was strange because it was literally the first time of trying for DC2 and it had taken ages to get pregnant the first time.

BadRoly · 01/10/2014 23:26

I 'knew' dd1 was a girl. Didn't even have a boys name for her'

I also 'knew' ds1 was a girl too Blush.

I ignored any 'knowledge' with dc3&4 as a result Grin

BadRoly · 01/10/2014 23:29

Ah, misunderstood! Blush

I didn't know I was pg with any of mine until I tested.

I have subsequently had 1 or 2 scares where I have had several symptoms despite dh having a vasectomy and me having a mirena coil!

mrshope · 02/10/2014 11:20

OP - the funny thing is all those months of trying - I always thought I had pregnancy symptoms - only to discover I wasn't! (Gutting)
The one month I thought I definitely wasn't (DH was out of the country during the supposed window of opportunity) I was!!
So I genuinely think there is no telling!!
(Oh and it definitely is DHs child!! I must just ovulate late!!!)
Fingers crossed for you.
(But be warned babies, how ever much you want them are certainly no walk in the park!!!)

freshlysharpenedpencils · 02/10/2014 11:34

oh I know mrshope - I already have one toddler.
