Just wondering, it's my second pregnancy and I'm having two 125 ml glasses of wine a week (since around 4 months) is that about normal / ok - there seems to be little research on it.

One drink (either half a lager or a small glass of red wine) whenever I want but only one in any given day and after food.

amy83firsttimer · 13/09/2014 17:28

Read Expecting Better by Emily Oster for studies etc.

This leaflet summarises all of the up to date research. Hope it is helpful

The Emily Oster book makes a rather fundamental mistake when analysing the data.

DuckandCat · 13/09/2014 17:43

None, personal choice. I don't drink much when not pregnant, so don't find it a huge sacrifice.

C0smos · 13/09/2014 17:44

None at all, it's only for 9 months so I'd rather stop altogether.

Advice451 · 13/09/2014 17:44

I'm 7 months and haven't touched a drop.. However I think I might have a glass of wine with my evening meal tonight .. I feel nervous though!

Dogsmom · 13/09/2014 17:50

I'm not drinking at all, I may be wrong but I don't think there's any conclusive evidence it doesn't cause any harm and I don't want to take risks.
I'm sure it would be fine but I know that if I did drink and something did happen even though it would most likely be coincidence I would drive myself insane with what ifs.

WaffleWiffle · 13/09/2014 17:52

Well my eldest is 10 years old and I am currently pregnant with my fourth.

In that last 10 years I would estimate that I drink about 6 units over the course of a year.

I am not tee total, but almost Blush

LittleBearPad · 13/09/2014 17:53

A glass of wine every fortnight or so.

polkadotdelight · 13/09/2014 17:55

I had a few on New Years Eve/over Christmas which was during my two week wait, a sip of MILs elderflower Pimms a few months ago and one spritzer with a small amount of wine. I considered buying a small bottle today but didn't fancy the dirty looks (39+3) and it doesn't seem right. I've hammered the Becks Blue recently though!

youbethemummylion · 13/09/2014 17:56

I drank nothing at all with both pregnancies. Its only 9 months of your life and I say that as someone who very much likes a drink.

5madthings · 13/09/2014 17:58

I had the odd drink, ie bdays, Xmas, New year etc. I totally went off wine so I would have a small cider.

PotteringAlong · 13/09/2014 17:59

Nothing.

purplemurple1 · 13/09/2014 17:59

Thanks for the link - says 5 unit's a day is a definite risk, they think 1-2 units a week is ok. That's a hell of a gap in the findings.

I thought it's just 9 months the first time, and only had the odd sip, it's easier to be more lax in subsequent pregnancies I suppose. Although maybe I shouldn't be.

About a bottle of wine a day. BP fine, weight, well within healthy range, skin, clear. I drink about 5 pints of water too.

Bohemond · 13/09/2014 18:08

One small glass white wine or one small beer every Friday (22 weeks now).

Bondy83 · 13/09/2014 18:11

Angelos a bottle of wine a day? ?? ? Really???

purplemurple1 · 13/09/2014 18:15

Don't think angelos spotted this is in pregnancy

Nothing on a daily basis. Sips from my husband's glass for special occasions (3 times in 9 months). A sip of communion wine every Sunday.

LBNM19 · 13/09/2014 18:50

I don't drink any at all but haven't really since I had dc1 xx

lauren222 · 13/09/2014 19:00

None. For me it's just not worth the risk.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 13/09/2014 19:03

1-2 units every 1-2 weeks. I was happy with that.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 13/09/2014 19:03

LittlePeas - out of interest, what was the mistake?
