Was second time just as lucky?
I know babies are a blessing and can't be timed but trying to look at 2nd baby options esp in relation to dc starting at primary schools etc
Just wondering anecdotally!

Also any difference in time between 29 and mid 39's??

3 months, 2 months, one month.

CheerfulYank · 09/09/2014 06:11

DS: first time unprotected, was doing rhythm method but completely backwards :o Was 24

DD: first cycle of trying. Was 30

ikeaismylocal · 09/09/2014 06:19

I had the opposite experience, ds took 2 years of ttc (late 20s) we liked the idea of a 4 year age gap and assumed dc2 would also take 2years+ to conceive so we started ttc when ds turned 1. I got pregnant the first month so now our planned 4 year age gap has turned into 2 under 2!

Cheerymum · 09/09/2014 06:22

DC 1 unplanned, first ever careless moment, aged 34 (35 when born)
DCs 2+3 twins, first cycle aged 37
Fortunately now pretty much too knackered for sex!

goshhhhhh · 09/09/2014 06:28

First time both times (32 & 35)

lanbro · 09/09/2014 06:40

Both dds conceived first month of trying with no period after stopping pill, dd2 only dtd once! 31 and 33.

Lozmatoz · 09/09/2014 06:44

First month all 3 times.

Metalhead · 09/09/2014 07:51

Pregnancy 1 at 30 - 2 cycles
Pregnancy 2 at 34 - 4 cycles but ended in mmc
Still ttc now, 6 months on and nothing despite using opks and charting temps...

Littlefrenchmummy · 09/09/2014 07:53

DC1 - After 2 weeks of trying (22)
DC2 - After 2 weeks of trying (26)

4 miscarriages in-between but all from pregnancies where I fell pregnant immediately after not using protection.

Best of luck !

5madthings · 09/09/2014 07:54

Petal26 · 09/09/2014 08:21

DC1 - 2nd month (didn't understand the cycle first month) Age 26
DC2 - 1st month - 31 weeks now, Age 29

Cannotbelieveit · 09/09/2014 08:23

DS1 unplanned
DS2 unplanned and conceived when DS1 was 4 months old

Shesparkles · 09/09/2014 08:25

I was very fortunate mad conceived in the first month with both of my children.
With dd I was 26 and 31 with ds.
Our thinking 2nd time was "unlikely we'll be so lucky this time, but just in case, are we ready to have another baby in 9 months'
Just as well the answer to that was yes!

ikeaismylocal · 09/09/2014 08:30

5madthinhs I think you should have the "most fertile" award!

Errrr2012 · 09/09/2014 08:45

First try both times (age 33 and 35). A shock to conceive so quickly both times. V lucky.

squizita · 09/09/2014 08:45

Sadly I am on 1st full term baby, several attempts/pregnancies. .. but I am mid/late 30s and this one, like all my positive tests came within 2-3 months trying. And has stuck. :)

As the losses were pushing time along I spoke to a consultant who said "fertility isn't a cliff, it's a hill ... and it depends on how high your hill was in the first place". He basically told me if I had been careless as a teen/young adult I would have been at major risk of unplanned pregnancy, so my slightly less fertile 35+ was actually fine. It really is very personal.
He asked a lot of questions about my mum's fertility so I think that might be an indication.

squizita · 09/09/2014 08:47

...The losses also NOT age related. Started trying a few years ago, recently had a blood condition diagnosed which explains s them. Had it all my life and didn't know!

madamweasel · 09/09/2014 08:49

Yup, first cycle both times at 28 & 30

zoemaguire · 09/09/2014 08:50

4 months, 9 months, 1ish months!

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 09/09/2014 08:51

Yes. DC1 was a "it won't happen the first time" and DC2 was a bottle of wine and a sunny days madness.

We're so incredibly careful now it's not so much belt and braces, but nuclear deterrent.

kitkat321 · 09/09/2014 08:56

I've had 3 pregnancies - first two ended in miscarriage, currently 28 weeks with the 3rd one. All conceived on first cycle - we are either very lucky or very fertile!

Thumbwitch · 09/09/2014 08:57

DS1 - 3m of trying (aged 39)
DS2 - 3 years and 3 MCs (aged 44) - we didn't really start trying properly until DS1 was about 18mo and he was over 4 when I finally fell pg with Ds2.

MummytoMog · 09/09/2014 11:12

With both my first two pregnancies, I was also taking prenatal vitamins for three months before, and I always track my cycles. In fact, I can be fairly certain when this one was conceived as well as I normally make a note of ovulation/periods anyway. It's become a habit. I have a very regular cycle and my mum had five children (two unplanned) so I think I've been lucky in inheriting her fertility, especially given how much I smoked and drank in my twenties.

middlings · 09/09/2014 11:16

DD1 - a long time and a long journey.

DD2 - first time we tried!

dreamingofwineandcheese · 09/09/2014 13:05

First Pregnancy (mc)- 3rd cycle.
DC1 - First cycle after mc
DC2 - First cycle of ttc
