If your first baby was late, was your second late too?

I'm 37 weeks and getting impatient! My ds was born at 40+12 so I'm thinking I will probably be overdue again.

At my last appt baby was head down but not engaged, I think it mives between head down and transverse though going by movement. I don't think I've felt aby braxton hicks, no show etc.

Am I right in thinking this baby is likely to be late too? what was your experience?

DD2- 40+15

All 4 born at 40+12, three after induction.

DD1 was 10 days late (went into labour naturally after arriving at hospital for an induction)
DD2 perfectly on her due date.

Both a week or so late.
The second made a show of making an appearance a bit earlier than my first had, but then didn't finish the job and hung on for 4 days before surgical eviction.

Hopeful! All started naturally.

My first was induced at 40+10 which was clearly too early No medical reason just 'over' dates. Ho hum. Anyway, DS2 was only 4 days late and DS3 was inconveniently 1 day early (I had stuff planned!!)

Yes - DC1 induced at +10 (same as above - no particular reason); DC2 - I wanted to avoid induction and the hospital were fine with that, +16 in the end.

Nope, a week early.

DD was 42w induced
DS was 42w also induce

Pg again with 3rd hoping I might go naturally this time but I doubt it. I might refuse induction but not sure what happens then?!

Other way round for me, first was 37+5, second was 40+6 after a sweep.

a cheering anecdote form me: ds1 got hauled out at 42 weeks; ds2, 3 and 4 all arrived around 38/9 weeks.

So basically I am assuming nothing will happen till my due date with this one. I can't be arsed to pack a bag or anything till then. Do you think this will make the baby come early?

From vastly scientific anecdotal evidence from my friends , I think some women tend to have shorter gestation periods and others have longer. Nearly all my friends have been earlier with their second (although they may have gone past due date, just not so far past). For me, DC1 - 38+2, DC3 - 36 weeks exactly and I'll let you know about DC3 in a few months...

Sorry - I meant DC1 38+2, DC2 36 weeks. Don't know about DC3 yet but hoping I get to at least 36 weeks again. I guess with a DC1 at 40+5, DC2 will be between 39+3 - 40. Again, highly scientific estimate....

This is all complicated for me by the fact that DC2 is due on DC1's birthday. So is it going to be a birthday party with a grumpy waddling pregnant mummy, or a birthday party with a dazed bleeding mummy clutching newborn, or a very eventful birthday party??

Luckily DC1 is only going to be 2 so won't give a shit either way!

ps. I am not really throwing a birthday party. I may just demand people come over and bring DC1 me cake...

Yep all 3 late and ds2 the last one was the only one who came of his own accord at nearly 42 weeks

Ive been wondering about this - if this one comes around the same gestation as dc1 then ill either be about to go into labour, in labour or have a few hour old newborn for BILs wedding!

Problem is even if we do have baby before bils wedding we cant take him/her due to mil being present.
