Should I call hospital?

Not exactly sure why I am writing this, as I know I will call hospital soon, but feeling a bit unsettled.

I am 35 plus 5 with dc3. Dds1 and 2 were born at 39 weeks and 38 weeks.
When I went to bed last night I told dh that the baby was hurting me, and felt like it was in a weird position. I was hoping it was trying to move as at my 34 week check it was diagonally oblique.

Since then I have had what I can only describe as mild contraction type cramps - I've been awake since 4am. They only last for a few seconds but definitely feel different to normal period type pains and if think I remember this is how my previous labours started. Am in a bit of denial I think as not quite 36 weeks and worried about things going wrong.

Assume I should just call hospital now, they will tell me to come in to be checked and will then know what is going on. Dh and both dds ares sleeping soundly right now and I can't think straight!

Thanks

Yes, I'd give them a call, better to get checked out and find out what's happening/put your mind at rest - good luck, hope everythings ok

Mumof3xox · 10/08/2014 06:29

Yes give them a ring, this is the sensible option

I hope all is ok

Girlsville · 10/08/2014 06:34

I agree, get checked out. Hope everything is ok

middlings · 10/08/2014 06:37

I'd get checked out too. Remember they never mind being called. Good luck.

LoveBeingInTheSun · 10/08/2014 06:45

And maybe it's not, but the only way to rule out for sure is to go in. Give them a call to talk through before everyone gets up

amy83firsttimer · 10/08/2014 08:11

Any news?

curiousgeorgie · 10/08/2014 08:25

If you are in labour 35 + 5 would be fine, my friends baby born at that term came home after 2 days and I was born at a similar term...

Any news? Grin

In the hospital now in the maternal fetal assessment unit ..... Hooked up to machine which confirms I am having contractions. Now waiting for dr to examine me to see what's going on dilation wise. Midwife says they will try to get actual labour to hold off until Tuesday which is when I am 36 weeks and at which point they would not be worried at all for the baby to be born ....

Feeling slightly calmer, though would like dr to come soon. Blood pressure has gone sly high with anxiety.

Good luck op, even if they can't it's only a couple of days, try to relax

Mumof3xox · 10/08/2014 09:59

Good luck op

Pico2 · 10/08/2014 10:04

Have they given you steroids?

SpottyTeacakes · 10/08/2014 10:09

Good luck op. Ds was born at 35+4 (induction). He was in SCBU due to me being diabetic but we saw plenty of earlier babies coming and going with no probs Smile

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 10/08/2014 10:11

Good luck. DS was born at 34+5 and had no issues at all.

Hobby2014 · 10/08/2014 10:20

Good luck op, hope all goes well for you x

hartmel · 10/08/2014 11:38

Good luck! Hope baby stays in till Tuesday!

Girlsville · 10/08/2014 12:02

Thanks all, for those who had babies born at a similar time did they have to go to any of the scbu units?
Junior dr says I'm 1 -2 cm dilated, contractions v irregular....now waiting for someone more senior to come and look at me and decide whether to keep me in, give me any drugs or let me go until labour established.

Two weeks in SCBU for ds but as I said I'm diabetic plus he was v poorly with an infection he got in the womb. Friend had baby the same day and same gestation(!) he was in for a couple of days. CPAP to start with then oxygen then getting feeding sorted but like said there were 34 weekers in and out in a day or two so I'm not sure you can tell until they're born. Hope it all goes well. It could easily still be weeks! Thanks

Girlsville · 10/08/2014 12:28

Thanks spotty, contractions now dying down so keeping legs crossed!

My dd was born 35 weeks exactly 5lb 6oz and absolutely fine, a bit of jaundice that resolved after 12 hours in a light box but no SCBU needed at all.
