Well, King Kong, could dh help with the parts you cant reach with a razor??!!

Quackers · 25/03/2004 21:13

LOL Twigs!!
I remember sitting in the bath in labour doing my bits before I went to hospital! Not bothered this time though!! Will shave my legs and underarms but as for bikini, I've got no chance of getting down there! I thought they did it for you before a section???

I seem to remember that this was a job for Immac - I used a mirror.

If elective, don't let the nurses do it - it will be done on the ward rather than intheatre, using the dodgiest looking blade you have ever seen....

libb · 25/03/2004 21:38

I am glad someone else raised this! I was thinking the same recently - DP has offered but like Twiglett I'm not convinced!

I can still do my legs and underarms but it has been a little while since I've seen anything else!

What's a girl to do?

motherinferior · 25/03/2004 21:52

Electric razor/beard trimmer?

libb · 25/03/2004 21:55

I think a hedge trimmer would be more suitable in my case . . . .

eddm · 25/03/2004 21:59

Thought of that one, got hold of dh's old beard trimmer (for some reason he didn't want me to use his new one... I wonder why) but got distracted and then couldn't find it. So went au naturel... in front of both my sisters too!

sweetkitty · 25/03/2004 21:59

I'm going for a wax a week before my due date if I make it that far!

eddm · 25/03/2004 22:00

Actually just realised that might be why dh has grown really irritating straggly beardy-weirdy thing... maybe I never told him that I didn't use his beard trimmer after all?

motherinferior · 25/03/2004 22:21

See the 'memorable childbirth' thread for Marina's experience...

Quackers · 26/03/2004 09:47

You could always wax and just cope with the pain!! You would be fluff free and lookin absolutely gorgeous!

M2T · 26/03/2004 09:54

Last time I got DH to shave my legs for me. I think I attempted to shave my bikini line using a disposable razor and a mirror whilst in hospital (High BP at 38wks)!! Not recommended!!!! Talk about plucked chicken??

highlander · 26/03/2004 10:49

I've started preparing already!
The first bikini waxing was really sore, especially across the top (brought tears to my eyes!). Since then, it's been no problem.

I quite like the feeling of being groomed and sexy, despite being pregnant.

Saying that, don't know if I'll still be in the mood for waxing come 38 weeks

mears · 26/03/2004 10:49

No need to do C/S prep yourself Twiglet! Better to be done by midwife who can see what she is doing to avoid nicks

CP · 26/03/2004 11:11

I had my legs and bikini line waxed last Saturday in preparation for the big day (no, he has still not arrived but I am hair free and loving it!!)

Croak · 26/03/2004 11:35

Its so scritchy scratchy being dry shaved with an NHS razor though mears. I was dreading the catheter but the shaving was worse. Perhaps I'll bring my own if there's a next time and look like a right precious moo
So glad that nothing nasty showed up on your bloods and hope you find something to help your back btw.

tolly · 21/04/2004 14:18

For both of mine I went natural. Ex was into hairy and never wanted me to do anything about pubes and pits at any point in the marriage. Still hairy now and he's been gone 2 yrs.
The midwife never mentioned it and neither did the hospital. My sister attended the second one and she was horrified when she saw me, then confided how horrible it all was growing back afterwards as the hirsuteness runs in the family.

SEXGODDESS · 21/04/2004 14:24

Agree it's nice to be groomed especially when you know everyone's going to be there... I went to a hospital about 10 miles away (not the one round the corner) and the midwife who expertly saw to the area below my scar lived round the corner from me... everytime I went out of the house for about 2 years I saw her....couldn't have anyone other than dh down there...call me a prude!!!

bunnyrabbit · 21/04/2004 15:04

I always have mine waxed and had legs and 'kini done at 39 weeks.

BIG MISTAKE!!

Dont know if it was the hormones but by god it hurt! Used to have a brazilian but just went for the straight 'kini wax and am I glad I did. I bled and was bruised for days.

BR

bossykate · 21/04/2004 15:08

i think this is a good half-way house between au naturelle and brazilian. neat and tidy, but no pain or troublesome regrowth. if you are heavily pg, you will probably need a mirror and may need some help to reach though.

StripyMouse · 21/04/2004 15:12

bossykate - I hardly dared to click on your link but curiosity got the better of me! For one moment I thought you might have posted a piccy of yourself!!!!

noddy5 · 21/04/2004 15:13

just leave it you'll have enough to worry about-let them do it for you!

bossykate · 21/04/2004 15:16

but not my face, eh stripmouse?! i have just burst out laughing at my desk!
