don't worry, everyone, it's a beauty aid...

mum2three · 21/04/2004 15:25

when i had my dd i was very nieve and left everything had quite a shock day's after i gave birth to see a forest! when i had my sons by c-section i went for the immac option and covered as much as the area as i could see with a steamed up mirror in the bath!! wasn't very sculpted! But was too huge to attempt going to a salon, the girls are very young and would put them off having kids!!

Toothache · 21/04/2004 15:30

BK - PHEW! I just opened it at work!

I am going to make sure my legs and armpits are Immac'd(Veeted!) and my bikini line is in some sort of order.... not waxed though! OUCH!

I was rushed to hospital from my work on Friday. I had 2 internals as they thought I had gone into early labour.... I was very hairy and hadn't had time for a shower that morning!! It didn't bother me at the time coz I was just so worried about being in labour at 24wks, but now I know all is well I'm trully mortified!

shame

I have such horrific ingrowing hairs and itchiness after shaving or waxing that I just started a course of IPL treatment to get rid of the hair forever. However, 'therapist' asked me if I wanted a Brazilian, and I had to point out this would not be a v sexy look with my c-section scar!

motherinferior · 21/04/2004 15:45

Oh dear. I'm a leg/armpit shaver, but I have to admit it never occurred to me that I should whizz the hair off from a part of my body which, come to think of it, had half Kings' Hospital gawping round the first time (far more people than have ever gawped at my pits). Mind you, BK, aren't home birthers supposed to do Natural?

bossykate · 21/04/2004 15:56

perhaps i am saving the clippings to knit into a baby sling...

bossykate · 21/04/2004 15:58

lol, mi i'm so not a knit your own yoghurt type of homebirther!

I'm lurking cause I'm bored but this thread has had me in hysterics girls!

Lol at Libb and her hedge trimmer.

Not preg but hairs. My ex had some of my forest clippings in his wallet in a little plastic bag.
Doubt he has now since he is with a 19 yr old bimbo who prob does Brazilian.
I wonder who has changed because he always liked hairy.

kbaby · 21/04/2004 19:02

I bit the bullet and asked DH to do my bikini line on Sunday. It was not a pleasant experience especially when he said they were too long and went downstairs to get some scissors to cut the length. Had to stop him when I realised he was going to use the kitchen scissors, the very same pair that I use to cut bacon and stuff urggg!! eventually found him a pair of nail scissors and am now sporting a very mimimilist look, Im surprised he didnt get a stencil out and do a design. But at least it looks half decent and means they might actually be able to see the babies head emerging now.

tolly · 22/04/2004 12:42

Girlfriend of mine and her DP use him trimming and making patterns as part of the foreplay. It develops into steamy sessions by all accounts.
He is quite artistic judging by what she shows me. It's not a gallery display every week of course.

I would just say, why bother. Every body grows hair there so it's not uncommon is it. Why all the fuss about it and the midwives I know don't seem to mind.

BIBIBOO · 24/05/2004 12:45

Another thing to worry about... I'm going to stop reading these threads! Before I got pg I thought I'd have 9 months of loveliness, a nice round belly and lots of kind people smiling at me...then the baby would slip out one night when I was asleep and I'd wake up a mummy

It's only now I am realising just what is involved in this complicated world of pg! I can barely see my bits to sort the hair situation out now and I'm only 4.5 months - maybe dh is going to have to brave that area while I bark instructions from up above!
Put of interest, how long does waxing (hair-free-ness)last and will the pain be a good preparation for the shock of birth?

mummysurfer · 24/05/2004 12:48

i have a wax evrey 6 weeks or so.

Toothache · 24/05/2004 12:50

Bibiboo - I'm 6.5 mths now and there is NO CHANCE I could reach there. DH has offered very kindly to trim me, but there is absolutely no chance of me letting him loose with a razor! Before I knew it I'd have a Brazilian.

My friend gave me a bath seat (meant for OAPs) that I can use to shave my legs.

Another acquaintance of mine developed a rather hairy lower tummy whilst pg and had to Immac it! I know the feeling..... for some reason my hair growth has gone into overdrive this time too and my bikini line is creeping up toward my naval!!

sweetkitty · 24/05/2004 13:58

I don't seem to have a problem still reaching legs and bikini line in the shower - I am going to book myself in for a wax as a treat in a few weeks though.

Last wax I had was at 8 weeks and it hurt far more than normal.

Branster · 25/05/2004 18:12

oh god, this was such an issue for me when i had dd!!i'm glad other people wonder what's the right thing to do. what i did (planned it all, you see), i didn't wax in the last few weeks and when my contractions started i was in the bathroom shaving it all off (legs were really worrying me) so that i would be OK for the birth. frankly, looking back i don't think any of the hospital staff give a t..s.

I hadn't shaved my legs (or anything else) for well over 6 weeks and thought nothing of it until I had some bleeding at 16 weeks. Went into ANC and the Dr did an internal exam, so as he was prodding about with his swab and shining a light up my foof, all I could think of was "Ohmygod, everything's so hairy!"

Had to go for a check up the week after and another internal, so neatly shaved/immaced everything. Felt great until DH said "that Dr is going to think you fancy him!"
