Allyco, very impressed at your restraint in calling the other driver a "berk" - can't say I would have been so ladylike myself! Hope you and bump are okay.

Get used to the advice, my loves, because believe me that's NOTHING to the barrage of advice from total expletive deleted strangers you'll get once you've actually produced...

piglit · 15/06/2004 12:36

Grreat - I can't wait. Not.

Turtle35 · 15/06/2004 13:57

Morning all, I had such an amazing scan on Tuesday, found out it's a GIRL!!I am so thrilled, my DH said now I have two beautiful girls in my life which made me feel very hormonal, makes me want to cry now. We were in the scan room for more than 30 minutes, sonographer said baby was misbehaving and wouldn't stay still - hope that isn't an indication of what is to come! It was just amazing seeing her move about so much, I am still on cloud nine.

I too have swollen feet and my shoes are tight, actually come to think of it, everything is tight.

I keep getting jokers asking me if there is just the one baby in there?? I am so tempted to say how many have you got in you big fat stomach! I am really getting irritated by people thinking they have a right to comment on my size. By the way I was told the baby has a chubby abdomen (a bit bigger than average)- must of been all of the chocolate

piglit · 15/06/2004 14:01

Great news Turtle and 10 out of 10 to your dh for saying such a nice thing! I love babies' tums - the chubbier the better!

huppa · 15/06/2004 14:28

Glad to hear the scan went well Turtle.
My feet are also swelling up nicely in this heat. Last pregnancy I ended up wearing dh´s shoes for last 2/3 weeks as couldn´t fit in mine any longer. It was winter so couldn´t get away with flip flops and was too stingy to buy new shoes just for a few weeks.
Last week met some people for coffee and friend of friend turned to my dh and said in loud voice "You´re dw has put on alot of weight hasn´t she." He didn´t know I was pregnant, but if I hadn´t been I would of been furious.
Allyco - hope you´re feeling o.k. It must of been a shock. Has your doctor said anything about the whiplash?
Off on holiday tomorrow so will catch up with everyone in a couple of weeks.

florenceuk · 15/06/2004 14:50

Ooh another girl. I wonder if it is going to be 50-50 on this thread or not?

BIBIBOO · 15/06/2004 14:55

Turtle, your DH is v sweet! Congrats on your sugar & spice & all things nice. Are you going to start buying all cute pink stuff now?

Wish I'd found out!

Turtle35 · 15/06/2004 17:57

I just went to the Little White company and went nuts!! Oh it was so much fun!! Lot's of gorgeous pink and white stuff

BIBIBOO · 15/06/2004 18:10

Turtle, that's what I was afraid of doing, so best I don't know for now. I'll be too tired after the birth to max the Mastercard - for a few days at least!
Although, there's always internet shopping...

piglit · 15/06/2004 18:25

I just love those leedle all in one body suits. And those leedle coats with hoods that have rabbit ears.

BIBIBOO · 15/06/2004 19:08

mmm, I love anything that has tiny ickle feet on it, so happy I'm having an autumn/winter baby - lots of things with feet

Totally diffrerent subject now: DH has pointed out that my belly line is off-centre. I was under the impression that they all went nice and brown, straight down from your belly button, but mine's slightly to the left - am I a freak?

piglit · 15/06/2004 19:29

I'm glad you said that Bibiboo. Mine goes off to one side a bit and then goes downwards. I'm also beginning to see one from my navel upwards. Yikes!

Turtle35 · 15/06/2004 20:03

I don't have one of those lines!! I want one!!

I love the little sleep suits with the built in feet - I bought sets of 5 from Peter Jones which are great, plain white.

geogteach · 15/06/2004 22:38

Had scan today, all fine, DD obviously unimpressed as she fell asleep! Aparently this baby is slightly below average size but i'll believe when I see it, I was told DD was average and she was 9lb 1oz!

Allyco · 15/06/2004 23:27

thanks for nice wishes all. My whiplash is definitely geting worse but can only take paracetamol which I don't know what anyone else thinks but I always think is crap for any kind of pains anyway.

Now am not so new anymore feel I can ask openly if I am the only one who has no interest in S E X or is it because I am the oldest one on this thread and should be past it anyway? Does anyone else find the bump leaps about like mad afterwards? Also, has anyone suffered from really really really dry skin esp. on boobs so you have to rush to loo at work and take bra off and scratch ??

piglit · 16/06/2004 12:13

Allyco - E45 itch relief cream first thing in the morning makes a big difference to itchy boobs. It's also very moisturising too which helps. I've always had dry skin and always lather on E45 or something like that every morning.

I've been fine on the s e x front and have been surprised that things have pretty much stayed the same (i.e. lots of it) throughout. Mind you, dh and I haven't been together long and have only been married for 6 months so I'm sure that's got something to do with it. I'm fully expecting things to slow down as I get bigger. It doesn't seem to bother db at the moment but perhaps he sleeps through it.

Great news on the scan Geoteach. TBH I'm hoping for an average sized baby!! The thought of pushing out one of those 9 or 10 pounders terrifies me! We were told that our db is average size but when I looked relieved the sonographer told me that that doesn't mean anything at this stage and it could easily be a whopper or a little 'un!

BIBIBOO · 16/06/2004 12:26

Phew! Someone else whose s e x life is as slow as mine! I just don't feel like it at all ... ever. DH is great about it which helps, but I do feel sorry for him after the mad phase I went through when we got pg in the first place. He thinks we used up our yearly quota in one month!
I do make th effort to try, but feel bad when my heart's not in it. I want to be close to him and do those things, but just don't have the same drive. Will it ever come back?!

As for itchy boobs/skin, that phase has passed with me, had it v bad in the beginning and nothing relieved it. I was told to avoid oil based creams after I'd been itching as the oil in them keeps the heat trapped on your skin and you just got hotter and itchier I kept the creams (there were many) I used in the fridge which gave instant relief when applying them.
Now I put some Bio Oil in the bath and massage it in every night and that seems to keep the scales away if not the stretchmarks! Good luck in finding something that works for you - I just had to grin and bear it, but it did go away!

Turtle35 · 16/06/2004 18:56

I really lost my interest in S E X too! My DH is great but is probably a bit shocked after the year of constant sex trying to get pregnant

I probably go over board with the cream in the morning and stretchmark oil but my skin is sooo dry, I have been using the new Nivea cream that is supposed to firm you up ya right!!

Had my 20 week midwife appointment this morning which was a 1000 times better than the 12 week booking in appointment I had with the most incompetent scary midwife that ever lived. She let me listen to the hearbeat which was fantastic - I haven't stopped since.

Toots · 16/06/2004 22:39

Turtle, see old Toots said it would be better didn't I? You really deserved that good midwife appointment.

Read somewhere that baby is active after you have sex as a response to your heart rate going up. Not embarrassed or excited or anything weird.

You lot with your ickle tiny's. Bought my first pg mag this pg and got a bit gooey too yesterday

Am having quite a social life at the moment. Out two nights on the trot with a lunch date in between. Early bed tonight.

Haircut very sprauncey - lots of texture, darling.

Have good weekends lovelies.

BIBIBOO · 17/06/2004 14:35

You don't regret hair cut then Toots? That's good, I'm too chicken to have the chop!

BIBIBOO · 19/06/2004 14:12

Morning ladies,

Anyone else feeling sick as a parrot this morning? Still off my food which isn't good for a gannet like me! Not even the cream cakes in the fridge are tempting me ... what's wrong with me? Am I going weird? Will I never enjoy food again?
I was perfectly prepared for giving up eating anything tasty ever again after the birth to lose a few stone, but was really looking forward to indulging the needs of me and my bump...

beansprout · 19/06/2004 14:51

Hi ladeez - I'm BACK!!

And yes, I've been feeling sick again too. Someone actually asked me if I had lost weight this morning! I haven't, but it was very nice of them to say.

BTW, I did have my bump out on holiday, and just took the view that anyone who thinks I am fat rather than pregnant must be a bit stupid and doesn't deserve to behold my glorious bod!!

Ahem.....

Turtle35 · 19/06/2004 15:55

welcome back Bean - where did you go? I have to wait another month before I go away - it's only Cornwall but it's a holiday.

Bibi maybe it's the weather making you feel ill. I felt like fainting this am on the tube, thankfully a nice man (whose wife must be pregnant) gave me his seat.

I am a firm believer that your body tells you what you need and if you are lacking anything, if you are not hungry then don't sweat it - excuse the pun! Your hunger WILL come back

beansprout · 19/06/2004 17:22

Bean in (see what I did there?) Devon for a week, but did venture into Cornwall too (v. near the border). Hope your holiday is good when it comes 'round.

Does anyone know when the 3rd trimester officially starts? Have heard it is 25 weeks, but refuse to believe it, as am nearly 24 and there is NO WAY I am ready for final phase. Have decided to stay in the 2nd trimester until I feel ready to move on. These things should not be rushed!
