What are your 'birthing' and 'going home' "outfits?!!

Ok sorry for the incredibly shallow question, i know its not important in the scheme of things!!! ......

Im hoping for a waterbirth but whether i have it or not i still dont know what to pack for giving birth. Im pained to spend any money on anything i dont already own (not much!) just for giving birth.
With regards to going home I have leggings and a pair of big knickers packed but not sure what else I will need.
Weather could be doing anything in June but guess thats largely irrelevant as I will be going straight to the car and then straight home!
Any advice?

I was just the same before dc1!! Lovely expensive nightie and dressing gown finishing at knee for labour, going home outfit planned. By all means have some fun now with it but by the time you get there you won't care what you look like but you may be glad you can still put one foot in front of the other! That said, I'd get a dress a la Kate Middleton as even if you have a c section, it'll be nice on the tummy, plus comfy cardie in case nippy. What is baby going home in?!?

Blimey the last thing I'd choose is a dress a la Kate Middleton. I'd be constantly worrying about a red flood ruining the dress and running down my legs.

I wore black yoga pants.

Actually that's a good point :) I stumbled home in a daze in my jeans but was just having some fun pretending a Hollywood type hospital leaving :)

Naked for my water birth. The pain took hold and i wanted nothing touching my skin so stripped off as soon as i got in the room.
Going home black leggings and a dress thing over it. Couldnt give a damn how i looked as i expected everyone was looking at baby. I was just glad to be going home!

I had a nighty to labour and birth in but there was no time so I just took off my maternity joggers and out he popped You really don't care at that particular moment.

I wore leggings and a black maternity dress and cardi to go home in. Luckily, the world's press weren't waiting for me.

I gave birth in a hospital gown (nightie I packed had the wrong type of sleeves for the drip I was on). Wore cheap leggings and dress over the top to come home.

I took a bikini top to go in the birthing pool in but they were too busy and there was no time for the pool.

Um yes, if a water birth won't you be naked? Won't be nice to have soaking material clinging to you surely?
For birth I got a loose knee length black dress from ac charity shop. My main oncern was to hide mt arse so dh wouldn't see if a bunch of piles popped out!
Never gave much thought to what I would go home in.

I wore the same tshirt to give birth in both times. One in the pool and one on dry land. Going home #1 was joggers and top. #2 was a lovely stretchy maternity maxi dress.

Both times I got myself a nice new short cotton dressing gown to swan around in post birth.

Primark nightdress to labour in.Iwas unexpectedly induced so DH brought me an outfit to go home in but I just put a hoody over my pjs and my ugg boots- I was a right state but it was day 3 and I had spent the whole night trying to breastfeed in tears
A few women o know look amazing after birth, full face of makeup and perfect hair, I was not one of these women.

I wore a breastfeeding dress home and another at the hospital actually. Navy blue one and dark green one. Both with leggings and wore the boots I arrived in

Shirt style nighty to actually give birth as opened all the way down if needed. Navy blue

I do wear dresses 95% of the time usually though. I found the breastfeeding dresses good value actually as worked as maternity dresses then wore after for months as most adjust to bump/ no bump. Very easy to breastfeed in as discreet openings. Had in dark green, navy, maroon, black, grey

I bought a cheap nightie from Dunnes to give birth in but as soon as real labour kicked in I needed to be naked so stripped off.

Gave birth in my living room so didn't need a going home outfit. I'm hoping to repeat that in 10 weeks time so not even going to bother buying a nightie this time!

I wore home what I wore in. Thankfully my waters didnt break.

I took a giant tshirt to labour in, and was eventually put in a hospital gown to prep for csec (dd was eventually salad tonged out).

Next time round ill be taking in a bikini top for the water birth I plan on having.

Hospital gownn to labour incheap cotton nightie from the market to wear after (I was in for four days), went home in what I had arrived in.
I went from hospital to car to front door. With DH and my DF. No photos, thank god. Although I did take some pics of my dad and DS.

Oh and I also had my eyelashes tinted a few weeks before :) just so I looked half awake in the following weeks ( lasts around 6 weeks)

Hoping for a water birth too and I've got a bikini top to wear in the pool.

Got some Matalan nighties that button down the front for when in hospital, they were only a few quid each!

A nice comfy dress and maternity tights for going home, last time I ended up going home in jogging bottoms, my nightie an uggs because my OH took my clothes home for some unknown reason!

I am packing yoga style trews, feeding vest and loose yoga top for over the top.

Probable c section so guessing a gown to give birth in!

for birth I wore an old loose monsoon summer dress (well past its best I might add) that was easy to BF too and for going home I don't remember, probably pj's knowing me.

Gave birth in the maternity vest top I had on anyway. Don't think I'd like some thing flowy (t shirt/nightie) personally, especially if in water.

Came home in maternity jeans - didn't think about my "going home" outfit at all!!!

For my first baby I wore a knee length nightie with short sleeves and buttons halfway down the front for the birth itself. I'm planning to wear the same for my forthcoming delivery but as others say I couldn't have given less of a toss how I looked during labour, so was more thinking about what would be comfortable afterwards (the wards always feel boiling to me, plus I wanted the buttons for feeding and the short sleeves for easy bp checks / bloods / IV etc).

Last time was in the depths of winter so I wore a jumper and a pair of black fleecey trousers. This time I'm packing a cotton dress with buttons halfway down the front plus my black maternity over-bump leggings (they'll be nice and comfy if I end up needing a c section).

To give birth I was naked and I came home in a pair of jogging bottoms and my pyjama top. I honestly didn't care.

Big knickers are a must, try Primark.

Birth, my oldest vest top nighie with another vest top underneath so that I don't completely expose myself when wearing clothes all becomes too much and I strip off. Both items may well end up in the bin.

Trip home, probably what I wore in (I like to travel light), something baggy and ridiculously comfortable. Maternity pads feel like you have half a duvet in your knickers so a maxi skirt or joggers is good.

After a crash GA c section 10 days ago, I left in a wheelchair, unable to walk, still in my pyjamas that I'd had on for 3 days, and dressing gown.

Seriously. There is the possibility that you won't give a toss, and you really won't be able to even open your hospital bag - never mind be in any condition to get something half decent on!

Oh, that and the fact that I literally still looked full term pregnant until about 3 days ago.
