turq great news :-D What's the next step, do you get a second blood test or is it just waiting for an early scan now?

I think I was very lucky and haven't had any spotting whatsoever since just after the egg collection. But from what I read (obsessively) online it seems like it's actually more common to have some spotting than not.

Hi Moggle, the doc said further bloods weren't necessary but for my own piece of mind I'm going for second bloods tomorrow to hope that it's doubled.

Bugs, bet it's lovely to be finished work how nice! I had to go off sick at 6 months pregnant last time. It was great to have so much time to prepare.
I've rang my local chemist to ask them how much cyclogest would be from them instead of the clinic and they said £19 a box! The clinic is charging me £45!! I'm going to ask for a private prescription tomorrow so I can take it there instead I think. Not sure if I'm allowed to do that but I go through a box every 4 days so if I'm on it for the next 9 weeks that will be pricy!

vallinnapod · 10/09/2014 21:55

£45?! WTF!!! I was paying £19 too.

resipsa · 10/09/2014 22:47

Turq - you post, I lurk! Ha, ha.

Turquoisetamborine · 11/09/2014 04:57

Waves to Res. Your turn to join soon I hope.

BeetleandBug · 11/09/2014 09:34

Congratulations, Turq! It's wonderful to see you here. That is a great first beta! I had a lot of early bleeding and it went on for about a month. I am 30+1 today so try not to panic. Euro also had bleeding early on and has gone on to sprout a gorgeous little girl recently. I believe Ferrero also suffered with early bleeding.

Res, it is wonderful to see you - how is your DH and treatment progressing? Did you go ahead with the sperm freezing?

Thank you for the responses on the whooping cough vaccine, i have decided i am going to get it. I am too tired after the last 3.5 years of researching and questioning medical professionals, that I am just going to do as i'm told.

I hope everyone is well x

vallinnapod · 11/09/2014 11:49

beetle I am thinking of that approach too. It wasn't available when I had DS. I ended up not having the flu jab with him too because my GPs clinics where at inconvenient times and Boots wouldn't do it until I was out of my first trimester. By which stage, flu season had finished.

Turquoisetamborine · 11/09/2014 12:34

Thanks for the reassurance re the bleeding. It's mostly stopped now thankfully.
I've been for a second beta today and it was 1600 so good news.
Doc wouldn't give me a private prescription for cyclogest though probably so he can make even more money out of us so I'm resigned to spending £90 a week on it for the next 9 weeks Shock

BeetleandBug · 11/09/2014 13:56

That doesn't sound right turq, surely they can't demand you only get your prescription from them? I would ring your gp and explain the situation. I got a progesterone prescription from mine when we moved back to the UK and my supply from abroad ran out without any problems.

BeetleandBug · 11/09/2014 14:09

In fact I got them at the flat rate prescription charge too. It was Crinone rather than cyclogest though.

nobeer · 11/09/2014 15:23

Cheeky bastards turq! Have you got a sympathetic gp who would write you a script? I'm incensed on your behalf.Angry

vallinnapod · 11/09/2014 16:14

I am pretty sure they can't do that....

Turquoisetamborine · 11/09/2014 17:15

I've rang the GP and he said as he isn't a gynaecologist he felt uncomfortable prescribing it but would consider it if I drop a letter off from the clinic confirming the dose and what I needed. He didn't sound very hopeful but then I started sobbing on the phone. I'm so ridiculously hormonal. So embarrassing! I'll do that tomorrow and hope for the best.
I think private clinics can do what they like. My last NHS clinic was crap but the drugs were much cheaper and sometimes free. I spent about £500 on them there whereas this cycle I have spent close to £1300 so far!

Turquoisetamborine · 11/09/2014 17:17

I know I should just be happy I'm pregnant and I'm being ridiculous but I'm so worried about money. We've run up loads on the credit cards with paying for IVF and I really wanted to be debt free before maternity comes along.

nobeer · 11/09/2014 17:34

Don't be sad turq! I've just done a quick google, www.hfea.gov.uk/ is the regulatory body who deals with ivf clinics. Maybe worth giving them a ring to ask if it's normal practice?

nobeer · 11/09/2014 17:36

And then time to get arsey with the clinic! or maybe ask on the fertility friends website forum if anyone there knows. Big hugs, love.

Turquoisetamborine · 11/09/2014 18:33

Thanks for the advice girls. I'll tackle that tomorrow. Our tenant has just done a bunk too, we've just had a call from the neighbours saying can we come and sort the house out as it's a tip. Great, just what I need. At least I'm pregnant even though I'll be up to my elbows in shit tomorrow!

BrookerC · 12/09/2014 18:48

Evening all. Some of you may remember me on here (probably most of you lovely lot Smile actually).
Just popped on randomly to see how you are all doing & I'm incensed on your behalf turq. What a rip off! I have 5 boxes of Cyclogest all in date that you are more than welcome to. PM if you are interested.

It's lovely to see how well everyone is (sorry to read that the mentalling never stops). Congrats to everyone who has given birth recently - particularly Euro. We've all had our struggles & I know how incredibly hard fought your baby was.
Love to all.

Turquoisetamborine · 12/09/2014 20:26

Hi Brooker. I remember you of course. How are you doing? I'm waiting for a decision from my GP to see if they are willing to give me a private prescription as he is uncomfortable with it as he's not a gynae Confused
I would be very glad of them if you wouldn't mind. I'll pay for postage of course.

nobeer · 13/09/2014 15:26

Hi lovely brooker! Hope all is well with you. Xx
Turq, hope the house cleaning wasn't too awful.

BeetleandBug · 14/09/2014 06:09

Big drama here sadly, my waters broke Friday morning. We have been in hospital under monitoring since and any sign of distress, infection or labour and the stitch is coming out.

I'm 30+4 today and just taking it as it comes. I can't bear to think of the possibilities at the moment, it's just all been too much. I am so exhausted with trying to have a baby and my mind has just shut down.

Please send good growing vibes and luck our way. Xxx

nobeer · 14/09/2014 09:15

Try not to panic beetle. You're in the best place. Are they scanning you every day, and got you hooked up to machines etc? Sending lots of positive vibes to you and bug (and your dh!) Flowers

Huge hugs Beetle I can only imagine how scared you are but I echo everything everyone else has said. Of course 30 weeks is very early but so much further on than last time. You are in the best possible place and Mini Beetle will have the best care. Have everything crossed x
