I forgot to say congratulations to Twinkle! CONGRATULATIONS!! Cake

vallinnapod · 01/09/2014 20:13

Beetle I thought your name change was indicative of a very early arrival! I'm one to talk, but relax and try to enjoy the end of your pregnancy. I have to keep reminding myself to do the same as it is highly unlikely we'll do this again.

Did you know you can claim back you prescriptions whilst pregnant once you get your exemption card?

I am basting myself before bed every night - have done since 12 weeks Grin

eurochick · 01/09/2014 20:29

ferrero I love the picture. So cute.

time I've said congrats elsewhere, but only just seen the story. I hope you are recovering well and that your little one is doing ok. He is a great weight for that gestation. C was 3lb6 at 34 weeks exactly.

I keep losing this thread but I am thinking of you all and cheering you on!

C hit her due date last Thursday. She has been piling on the weight and was 5lb10 then. Mr euro described her as "positively corpulent" yesterday. It's so nice to have a healthy looking chubby baby finally, even if she is still teeny by comparison to most newborns at 6 weeks old! :)

vallinnapod · 01/09/2014 20:49

6 weeks?! Wow Euro, time flies. So glad to hear she is chunking up nicely. I hope you and Mr Euro are settling into parenthood after the rather stressful start Smile

BeetleandBug · 03/09/2014 12:52

No early arrival (yet!), Vall, thank goodness. 29 weeks today, still can't believe there will be baby at the end of this and i feel so strangely detached like it's impossible to imagine. As it's our first too i have no clue what to expect anyway!

Great news, Euro. I am so pleased to hear about centime's good progress. Do you feel like the IVF and all the stress of the delivery is behind you now to an extent?

Beautiful day here today - hope everyone is also enjoying this sunshine.

Almost forgot, what are people's thoughts on the whooping cough vaccine? I need to do mine in the next few weeks and can't find any strong evidence not to. Also going to get the flu jab if i am offered it.

Ferreroroche123 · 03/09/2014 13:21

Beetle,

If it helps, I was very sceptical about the flu jab and the whooping cough jab when pregnant. I was so protective over my ivf baby I couldn't bear the possibility of these jabs causing it any harm. My son developed ITP (where body destroys it's own platelets and you can bleed uncontrollably) from his MMR booster, so I was more wary than many.

But, when I was 11 weeks it was January and flu was widely about and there were loads of ladies on the forums in America particularly who caught it because they were anti vaccination. The consequences of having flu while pregnant were far worse than the possible side effects of the jab, so I gave myself a mental slap round the face, told myself to stop being so cynical of the medical profession and got on with it.

I didn't catch flu and my baby is here unaffected.

Likewise, because whooping cough vaccination is quite recent and there is minimal evidence that it works, I asked my consultant. He assured me that the stats collected over the past few years show no correlation between the vaccination and increased third trimester problems, so to go ahead. I had it within a few days as I am in London, which is highest risk.

Again, baby was totally unaffected (other than the fact I got a headache immediately after the jab and he went rather quiet for a few hours but was moving as normal by next day).

Babies are very vulnerable if they get whooping cough, it really is nasty. My dad caught it as a kid and he said it is the one illness he remembers because it was so awful. He couldn't breathe for days. I knew I would never forgive myself if my baby caught it and I had to watch him fight for breath.

It is of course a personal decision, but I hope my experience helps reassure you.

eurochick · 03/09/2014 14:26

I was on the fence. I am generally pro vax but was nervous about taking anything in pregnancy. I ended up not having the wc vaccine, but more because it was at 28 weeks (the first point at which you can have it) that they flagged the placenta problem and we ended up with pretty intensive monitoring so it just wasn't something we thought about as we were so caught up in dealing with the problem, than from a definite decision not to have it. I had heard that it was of limited use if the mother herself has not been vaccinated (I wasn't - it wasn't standard back then). And also, C is a summer baby and gets her own jabs (including wc) at 8 weeks and wc rates are really very low now after the blip a couple of years back.

Turquoisetamborine · 08/09/2014 04:27

Hi, I don't know if anyone remembers me from the egg buddies thread but my second round was successful and I'm 4+3.
I know you're all way ahead of me but it's lovely to see so many successes on here!

eurochick · 08/09/2014 04:52

That's brilliant! Congratulations and welcome to the thread!

vallinnapod · 08/09/2014 05:04

So pleased to see you here Turq Grin

I have been awake since 01:42....baby is learning Riverdance. Then my 3 year old baby decided he needed 42 stories...Now I am wide awake. Bound to fall asleep at about 6:30...when DH will get up and DS will undoubtably think it is morning Confused And I can't even fuel myself on caffeine to get through tomorrow!

Still, I guess I wouldn't have it any other way Wink

Turquoisetamborine · 08/09/2014 06:34

Ah thanks for the welcome. My son is six Val but has still had me up half the night with his coughing. I'm exhausted. Roll on 5pm to have a little nap after work. I'm finding a nap mandatory at the moment.

moggle · 08/09/2014 12:26

turq that is really fantastic news, so happy that you are here!!

We moved into our new house on Friday :-D it's been a tiring weekend but I don't think I overdid it. I did paint a room and help DH put up some ikea furniture though, but no heavy lifting!

I am knackered today but that is mostly because our darling cats decided to wake us up every hour during the night, and then at 4am when we finally barricaded them in the lounge (door wouldn't shut properly or we would've done it from the start...) baby was doing acrobatics (or maybe also riverdance val!) and I couldn't get back to sleep until 6:30, just in time for the alarm to go off at 7.

The house is fab though and we're v happy to be in the place where we'll bring our baby home :-D

nobeer · 08/09/2014 13:43

Brilliant news turq! So lovely to see you here. Hope we can reassure you with symptom spotting Grin

I'm fine, seem to be growing daily. I'm constantly taken by surprise when I see my reflection.

Waves to everyone else

Turquoisetamborine · 08/09/2014 17:55

Glad you are settled in your new house Moggle.

I've had more pink cm when I wipe today Confused. Can't wait for beta tomorrow. Any idea how soon they tell you the results? Same day? It's a private clinic.
I am thinking this is either the start of a mc or it's a chemical pregnancy although the rational part of me is saying that a CB digital wouldn't be positive two days before OTD as they aren't very sensitive if it was a CP.

I feel like someone is playing a joke on me.

nobeer · 08/09/2014 21:08

I got mine the same day. Are you using crinone gel or some kind of progesterone pessary? That made my cm a bit pink.

Turquoisetamborine · 08/09/2014 21:49

I'm using progesterone pessaries but rectally so shouldnt affect cm.

I want to fast forward 24 hours! I've just remembered my last beta gave me the results 4 hours later and that was an NHS hospital so hopefully this one will be quicker.

nobeer · 08/09/2014 22:08

It was prob about that for me, but I went to work and turned my phone off as I was scared of getting bad news. Then I turned it on in my lunch hour to see lots of missed calls and a message from an excited sounding nurse! Hope you get a similar reaction. Let us know how you get on.xx

Turquoisetamborine · 08/09/2014 22:10

Haha that sounds like a good idea. I'd like to know before I spend hundreds of pounds on 10 weeks worth of pessaries!

vallinnapod · 08/09/2014 22:10

I got mine that day too. Ask when they expect the labs back and then badger them Smile

Twinklestar2 · 08/09/2014 22:51

Congratulations turquoise! I remember you from the egg buddies thread Smile

Turquoisetamborine · 09/09/2014 05:06

Hi Twinkle! Nice to see you! I can't sleep, too nervous!

vallinnapod · 09/09/2014 09:47

Fingers crossed x

Turquoisetamborine · 09/09/2014 17:17

Beta was 550+ at 4+4. From what I've read that's quite good but I've insisted on a second test on thurs just to check it's increasing. I pray it's not twins, I couldn't carry twins with my uni uterus!

vallinnapod · 09/09/2014 17:43

Those levels sound good! If it is any consolation I had a level of 1080 at 4+2 and only a singleton x

Turquoisetamborine · 09/09/2014 18:32

Wow that was high Val. Fingers crossed for one then. Did any of you have spotting in early pregnancy? It's been brown today just once on wiping but pink on a couple of other days. I'm sick to death of it.
