I'm hanging in there. Better than last week for sure.

Congrats no beer! A girl is wonderful. It makes it so much more real when you find out. Are you telling everyone? We have decided to keep it to ourselves. It's really hard though! I hate referring to the baby as 'it'.

Val I think I've said before but I like the Doppler. Just don't freak out if you can't find the heartbeat! Even now it can sometimes take a moment as the baby is so big and I need to find the right spot.

Beetling. That is a little frustrating. I know at c&w they do no cervical scans which is odd. With progesterone at this stage the primary use is to reduce uterine irritation, do perhaps as all is calm they don't worry about it. Having said that I'm still taking it and I didnt get contractions, so obviously some do give it.

Bedrest benefits are also slightly dubious... And you can always self prescribe!!

nobeer · 01/08/2014 19:58

Yeah we've started telling people. Here in Spain the doctors tell you unless you go in and tell them YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! And then I've heard of people whose doctor let it slip anyway. So the cultural norm is that people find out and it's no secret. I did think that it'd be nice to keep it to ourselves, or maybe it would be convenient if baby was in the "wrong" position...but the information is out there now. People are very excited for us, it's so lovely.

As for shopping, I think we're going to start sort out a list in September, see what hand-me-downs we can get etc. I know some family want to buy us presents too. Because we've spent so much on the treatment, we don't want to go crazy overspending. This is going to be an austerity baby Grin But if I see something I really like, I think I'll be brave and buy it. I've been so cautious all round up to now, I got myself in a stress last week because I put a picture on facebook with me and the bump, then started worrying I was tempting fate.

vallinnapod · 04/08/2014 21:11

nobeer I have said that about this baby but I keep thinking I want to treat her because she is special Wink

I am getting anxious again....I know, it's not like I have been calm ever! Approaching the anniversary of our MMC and just a bit downbeat.

nobeer · 05/08/2014 17:32

I'm sure ours will get spoilt too - Grandma has started knitting already. I think I might have a sneaky pop into town next week.

Sorry you're feeling anxious but I think anniversaries are particularly tough. Especially the first one. I'm sending you a hug.

BeetlingAbout · 07/08/2014 07:17

Time, glad to read that you are having a better week. We have also found out the sex, but are keeping it a secret. It's so hard and i am sure i've probably dropped a few boy bombs!

nobeer, it's going to be a crunch for us too on the baby stuff front as i haven't worked since my stitch op. I am going to start watching ebay at the end of the month for big things like the pram, and i know that my parents and nan are itching to buy clothing, so hopefully we won't need to spend much. Like Vall though, i am having to fight the urge to splurge!

Vall, sad dates will be particularly hard. How are you doing today? How many weeks are you now and did you have any luck getting the extra scan you wanted?

Euro, i hope that all is well with Centime?

Hi to everyone i've missed xx

Wow, Bugs, 30 weeks! That is a great milestone and one which I can't wait to reach. When have you planned to stop working?

Just wanted to pop back and say hello to Res if you are lurking, and that I hope you and DH are doing OK despite everything that has happened lately. Thinking of you xxx

Sounds like a good plan to finish before the big changes start, Bugs and it gives you some down time to enjoy being preggo and get everything ready for baby (and a bit of pampering for yourself too!)

Vall, how are you? It's your 20 week scan wednesday isn't it? I expect you might be feeling a bit anxious, and I hope that the next few days pass quickly for you.

Time, how are things going for you and baby?

Bears, Hat, Moggle and everyone else i've missed, i hope all is well.

I ladies. I'm 11weeks exactly today and have been on Prednisolone/Clexane/progesterone/5mgFolic Acid. (I had my last intralipids 4 weeks ago) On sunday I have my last doses and My OH is petrified about me stopping them. I'm also a realist and I know they have been prescribed under good sound evidence. But like my OH, my silly mind is just thinking, what if my babies are a little slow converting over to using their placentas, what if they are still reliant on their placentas for a few days after 12 weeks... Surely all babies don't have an in built alarm clock that makes it work bang on week 12, I'm still really sickly and exhausted so I haven't got the confidence that it's swapped over yet ( and ironically, I'd worry if the M/S did stop before the 12 weeks, even though I know this can be quite normal). I think I'd be a lot calmer if it wasn't for

Of course I will stop, and I am keeping calm and appearing stress free to my OH, but it is starting to tick over quietly in my mind and worry me slightly. :(

BeetlingAbout · 11/08/2014 11:43

Hi Scenic, totally understandable to worry. I think we have all had the same fears when stopping the prescriptions.

I was on progesterone after transfer and was taken off cold turkey at 8 weeks in both my bfp ivf's. I have heard of others coming off earlier and later. My Dr was adamant that the benefits are unproven after this gestation.

Hopefully someone with experience of your other medications will be along soon to reassure you.

I won't say try not to worry as I know it's impossible, but try to remember that your clinic have done this thousands of times before.

vallinnapod · 11/08/2014 20:27

Hi Scenic as Beetle said I think we all have that fear when our drug safety blanket is taken from us.

The placenta starts to take over at 9 weeks. If you think that Nuchal scans can be had from 11+3 and they check the placental blood flow then it is up and running for you now.

I wasn't on Pred but I was on Gestone, Cyclogest, Progynova, Estraderm, Clexane, Aspirin and 5mg Folic Acid. Gestone stopped at 9 weeks the rest tapered from 11-13 weeks. I was told to continue with the high dose Folic Acid until 16 weeks.

I do understand your fear. I had a MMC at 8+4 (discovered at 9 weeks). One of the (many) things it could have been down to was blood clots forming in the placenta so I was very paranoid stopping aspirin and clexane. Now 19+3 and touching all wood things are OK.

Yes Beetle, anomaly scan on Weds. Thankfully at 8:30am so no hanging around getting worked up...I hope.

Bugs I am going on mat leave early too. I am taking the full year and can't carry over holiday so in order not to lose my 2015 holiday entitlement I need to go mid-November. That means I 'finish' mat leave mid-November 2015 but then take my full years holiday so go back Jan 2016. I very much like saying I am going in 2014 and back in 2016! With mat leave/hols I had the same amount of time (14 months) with DS but I could work it so I had all the time after he was born. Still, can savour some quite time!

BeetlingAbout · 12/08/2014 09:32

Yikes! NCT course in my area is £318 [shocked]....might have a hard time convincing DH it's worth it...is it?

Vall, so glad that it's nice and early! How are you finding Kingston lately? I saw a registrar at 24 weeks but now not going back until 32...bit scary.

I am discovering I have a bit of thing about my bump being touched. I don't mind strokes or hand placing, but DH is about as gentle as a baby gorilla and it's getting my back up. I often have hard bits sticking out at odd angles now and if i show him he will poke or push it to try and get a reaction from baby, which i really don't like. It's got me thinking, how am i going to feel when the midwife is digging about trying to determine position? Scans are horrible as they press so hard, I worry that my waters will break again. Hmm

vallinnapod · 12/08/2014 11:26

No further experience at Kingston since my non-event consultant's appt at 15 weeks.

I HATED being touched full stop when PG with DS. I had a couple of pregnancy massaged which I came out of more tensed up thatn relaxed Grin I can completely understand your worry about too much pressure. Rationally I am sure you know it won't burst.

vallinnapod · 12/08/2014 11:28

Oh I lie. I had a really good conversation with the HB team. They will visit me at 28 weeks as opposed to a MW appt.

Twinklestar2 · 12/08/2014 17:05

Hi all

I don't post much but I do read.

Just wanted to let you all know I had my baby boy yesterday, 3 years and 1 day to the day we started trying and from my frozen cycle. So happy. GrinGrin

Thank you for all your support when I was an egg buddy xx

Awh, congratulations Twinkle!

All good at my anomaly scan. All bits as they should be and doing what they should. She has super long legs and nice lips apparently!! Who knew....!

moggle · 13/08/2014 09:55

Congratulations Twinkle!! Wonderful news!
Val that is great news :-D Extra long legs for kicking you with ;-)

I am so happy the summer has dialled it down a notch with the heat, I was getting really fed up of sleeping badly every single night. I was so happy to put the duvet back on the bed at the weekend! Baby is still treating me pretty well although I've been hit by really crampy legs the past couple of weeks which I'm treating with tonic (seems wrong without a gin in every one though...). And heartburn which is a new experience for me! We're gearing up to move house at the start of september so that is causing a bit of, well not exactly stress, there's just lots to think about. Had a small meltdown on DH the other night over everything on my mind which made me feel much better afterwards!

Hope everyone else is doing OK xxx

nobeer · 13/08/2014 11:36

Congratulations twink What amazing news!

Glad all went well val.

mogg top tip with the tonic! Will give it a try!

eurochick · 13/08/2014 11:46

Twinkle that is awesome. Congratulations. It's so lovely to see the hard-won babies arriving on this thread.

Centime was discharged on Friday. After more than three and a half years, endless prodding and poking, 2 rounds of IUI, 4 rounds of IVF, an mc, a very stressful final few weeks of pregnancy and three weeks in NICU and SCBU we finally have our baby home. It has been a very long road but we are thrilled (and shattered - newborn nights on top of the weeks of stress we have just been through are tough, but it is all so worth it). The midwife weighed her on Monday and she has hit 4lbs (she was 3lb6 at birth and then lost some, like all newborns), so she is chunking up nicely.

moggle · 13/08/2014 11:50

WOOHOO!! Well done Centime and well done euro and Mr euro. That's really fantastic news :-D Long may the good news continue!

Twinklestar2 · 13/08/2014 12:34

Fab news euro :)

Thanks everyone, looking forward to hearing about your babies being born soon!!

vallinnapod · 13/08/2014 12:40

Fantastic Euro!! I have been wondering how you guys were getting on.

I treated myself to a wax today and yeeewwhhhoo!! I got complacent with the 2 I had in my first tri being pretty painless. I had a pretty painful on at 13 weeks and today....yeehesus Wink Those weirdo pregnancy hormones...toughening up the roots to my pubes yet shedding the hair on my head (and eyebrows and eyelashes Hmm)
