I mean. What???
Clearly never lost a baby or desperately wanted one and couldn't have one. Very very annoying.

Hideous lot, 'boys take a wife, girls are for life' what a load of crap. And yes witch, I was surprised at her being 33!!!

ithoughtofitfirst · 08/04/2014 19:34

She was 33!? 'kin hell i must have missed that.

My mum and dad always tell me how they never wanted a girl.

Feels really awesome.

I found it too hard to watch, ended up turning it off.

I'm on pregnancy number 9, baby number 3 and people are constantly asking what I'm having and what I want. When I say it's a boy (I have 2 girls) the enevitalble, oh I bet you are so pleased, it means you can stop now! My answer is now 'well after loosing 6 babies, alive would be good'. I'm beyond caring it makes them feel awakward, I really don't care what gender this baby is, I feel blessed I'm getting to do it all over again. An this probably will be the last baby, but not because it's a boy.

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 08/04/2014 20:04

I stopped watching when she said that she would have left her partner and moved on to the next guy if she hadn't got her little girl. I don't have a problem with people thinking 'I'd quite like a little [insert gender] it's the obsessiveness, I will get that gender at all costs regardless of how much it hurts the other children

RedandChecker · 08/04/2014 20:13

Some people just don't realize how much of a miracle each child is. After a few losses a lady the other day was adamant that I must have a sex preference, I said I'd just be happy for a healthy pregnancy and baby at the end and she just didn't get it Hmm

Iwillorderthefood · 08/04/2014 20:16

I have two girls and am pg with another, and the amount of people who answer with "oh no!" Is astounding.

curiousgeorgie · 08/04/2014 20:24

People can have trouble with fertility and still have a gender preference, they're not mutually exclusive. I had 6 miscarriages and still crossed my fingers for a girl.

squizita · 08/04/2014 21:12

This.
We are not defined by our losses, and whispers are allowed to think things 'normal' women think.
It doesn't mean we're callous and actually, I've found me being 'normal' (well more normal) after CBT makes people far, far more uncomfortable and judgey than the timorous cap-doffing-grateful-for-crumbs me I was before.

whereisthewitch · 08/04/2014 21:25

I think it's ok to habe a secret preference, it's natural and I don't think that should exclude people who have lost ir had fertility treatment/problems.

But I draw the line at how that woman behaved, the things she was saying were completely inappropriate and although could've been tongue in cheek at times like the comment she made about swapping the baby if it was a boy, were, I feel, very dismissive of the 4 healthy boys she had at home.

she stated if she had had the girl first she wouldn't have needed to have any of those boys. She also stated that she had been waiting for this moment all her life. Like the moments when her sons were born didn't count or matter.

Yes ch4 could have edited it to make her sound bonkers but she still said those thingsnon national tv.

Essexgirlupnorth · 08/04/2014 21:29

Yep I really wanted that baby to come out a boy and the hubby saying if it was another boy he wouldn't try for another baby and she said she would find another man!

I have a DS and dd. I would like dc3 one day but when I say this to people, the usual reaction is "why? You've got one of each, you don't need another." I find this baffling.

Pawprint · 09/04/2014 07:58

Agree with earlier poster who objected to term "nut sack".

Revolting woman.

Heatherbell1978 · 09/04/2014 09:14

I was also totally disgusted. I have a friend who has a son and was very vocal about wanting that to be a girl at the time. Before the gender scan she actually referred to the baby as 'she' on FB and then posted a status update about how disappointed she was when she found out he was a boy. To be fair, she loves him to bits but is now trying again and going on again about wanting a girl. I secretly hope it's another boy. I know I'm having a boy and I wept with happiness when I found out as I'd had a previous m/c. I love my hubby to bits and the thought of having a little mini-him is so exciting! If you have a gender preference, keep it to yourself I reckon because it winds a lot of people up.

ithoughtofitfirst · 09/04/2014 09:28

Still refuse to believe she was 33. I hate being mean but ... c'mon...33

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 09/04/2014 09:30

Exactly, completely dismissive of the children she does have, like they didn't even matter :(

BuggedByJake · 09/04/2014 10:23

ithoughtofit I thought that too, she looked well over 40 IMO. Maybe all the stress of not having a girl had aged her!

CaipirinhasAllRound · 09/04/2014 12:25

Don't forget this was a tv programme which will have had copious amounts of editing to make it more dramatic to watch!

Leave the poor woman alone, we have no idea what she said when the cameras were off. I can't actually believe the title of this thread talks about wanting to hurt her!

I'm pregnant after ivf and it didn't make me think she should just be grateful for what she's got

Lottiedoubtie · 09/04/2014 12:29

The thing is even if they edited all the bits about how much she loves her boys she did still say, more than once things such as-
'If I'd had a girl I'd have stopped at one'
'If I can't try again for a girl I'd leave you and find a new man'
Etc... Etc...

Honestly I don't think she was very bright, and I'm convinced she has been hurt a lot to form the opinions she has. Still, her poor children Sad

expatinscotland · 09/04/2014 12:40

Wow! So what? Look at a lot of the of the daughters-in-law on here (or the woman who has a baby with a man, because a lot of them are not even married so not a daughter-in-law) on here. Their attitude towards the father of their child's mother is a disgrace. No wonder some have a gender preference.

Hell, in a lot of places, people abort healthy girls or abandon them.

Hardly a reason for hatred.

I had two healthy girls and a boy. One of my daughters died in childhood. We cannot have nor want any more children, but had we been younger I would have liked to have had another girl.

So sue me.

Lottiedoubtie · 09/04/2014 12:46

I don't hate her. I feel sorry for her and I think she was unintentionally unkind to her sons and her DH.

I don't think having a preference is in itself wrong, but expressing it like that and allowing it to lead to divorce etc... Is too much.

Gender preferences in other parts of the world is also abhorrent and tragic. Two wrongs don't make a right though...

CaipirinhasAllRound · 09/04/2014 12:56

You're taking it to seriously! As if she would have divorced her husband! That's what I mean about editing, her next sentence could have been 'only joking, I love my husband and all my sons and wouldn't be without, but a girl would be nice'

ithoughtofitfirst · 09/04/2014 13:01

buggedbyjake probably! Chill out woman jeeeeez

That said i do have a preference. I want another boy so i can re-use my boy's clothes.

But be fair... i would obviously be just as happy with a girl. What a dickhead!

As a pp said 'dozy mare'

buffythebarbieslayer · 09/04/2014 13:04

But would you declare it on national television?

In a manner which may hurt your son(s)?

expatinscotland · 09/04/2014 13:13

I wouldn't give birth on national TV, no. But who is to say if it will hurt them later or not. Jesus wept!
