Hello Kat .

Welcome to MN.

Congrats on the pregnancy ! How far along are you ? What are your particular worries?

NomDePlume · 20/08/2006 19:01

There are lots of younger Mums on here, some that now have teenagers, so we have a broad spectrum. I'm 24 now but was 19 when I got preg with DD (planned).

XxXKatXxX · 20/08/2006 19:11

Ah cool =] just generally worried about it all, im only nearly 15 and it wasnt planned and basically really scared/worried about how it'll all turn out and nearly 7 months

The older mum's are very nice though and have always been friendly to me

What are you worries?

NomDePlume · 20/08/2006 19:14

Do you have good support around you ? Midwife ? Parents ? Boyfriend ?

FWIW, Kat, everyone expecying a baby has worries and gets a bit scared, no matter how old they are.

NomDePlume · 20/08/2006 19:16

I think im most worried about the pain and the coping with being a mum and now knowing if im gunna be ok and cope with it or be a failure

You will probably find you take to motherhood like a duck to water. I was worried about it to but it comes naturally.

As for pain, there are pain killers and again once you clap eyes on your baby you will forget the pain part totaly! congratulations.

Its great you have support from your b/f and your mum. if you fancy a chat im

Another query i had was, since i realised i was pregnant ive bled on and off quite a bit is this normal?

OP posts:
mears · 21/08/2006 09:18

Hi there.

Bleeding throughout pregnancy is not normal but it is very common though. Have you been to the hospital to get checked over when you have had bleeding? It is important to have a scan to know where the placenta (afterbirth) is as bleeding can come from there. Bleeding sometimes comes from the neck of the womb which does not affect the baby at all.

Are you being seen by the doctor and midwife from the hospital?

XxXKatXxX · 21/08/2006 10:07

yea i am, i've got a 28 week scan booked today.I havnt mentioned it today but i will today
Thanks

Kat every pregnant woman worries about how they will cope with being a mum etc nothing to do with age. As long as you have good support should be ok.

BENDYB · 21/08/2006 10:31

Hi kat, Just wanted 2 say hi really, & try not 2 worry bout it, sure it'll all be fine! Its good that u've got support, also hope the scan goes well 2day!
I'm only 20 so be good 2chat 2 u & some of the other younger mums on here!

Indith · 21/08/2006 11:10

Hi Kat, prefectly within rights to be terrified! Heck I'm 22 and this one is unplanned, I think my first reaction was to spend a couple of hours sobbing on the bathroom floor with my positive test!

It sounds like you have really good support, I think all us first timers worry about being able to cope whatever the circumstances. Make sure you talk to your midwife about anything and everything, really find out as much as you can about your different options for labour so that when you have the baby it all goes how you want it to (at least as much as possible!). And of course go shopping with your mum! She knows exactly what you need and what you don't, I was so baffled the first time I went to one of those baby superstore things!

XxXKatXxX · 21/08/2006 11:12

Haha! Yea my reaction was to sit and sob for hours on end too! it takes so long to sink in doesnt it!? i think some people dont even realise how real it is til they actually go into labour! haha my mum didnt!

Yea we've been shopping was good fun and quite a laugh at first i was shi**ing myself and then relaxed more and kinda thought to myself, no kat dont worry its your baby! it'll all go fine!
