For pregnant berries at any stage. Scary thought but this is the one where some babies will appear!

You're in week 40 merk - better read the next instalment too! Hopeful is good, I'm still thinking I'll be next week at the earliest so it's a good thing folk are watching you

Oo lovely boom have a fantastic time. We'll definitely miss you!

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/03/2014 11:24

Thunder I'm going to be like the boy who cried wolf, so many twinges that everybody will get bored and stop watching. You will drop first and by the time I actually get round to the real thing nobody will believe me Grin

OP posts:
Thunderpantsarego · 17/03/2014 11:36

Ha! Yeah imagine that merk, you'll be '...erm hello everyone, honestly it is a real baby...'

Over here I'm too sceptical to believe the twinges mean much, but am finding them all quite fascinating.

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/03/2014 11:42

Im not keen on my bump going hard, finding it odd and disconcerting. Goodness knows what the baby must think!

Boom, sorry about your disappointment on the c section, but absolutely second what Sid said that you've done the most amazing part by growing your babies to the point where they're getting ready to be born. You may be having medical help to get the babies out but you've done the part that nobody else could do. I understand your frustration and meltdowns (why does pregnancy, which throws so many emotional curveballs at us, simultaneously load us with hormones to make it all harder to cope with!), don't forget to take pride and joy in what you've achieved so far. Hope you have a lovely holiday!
Â
Sid, I agree with Merk it sounds like time to get medical advice, it's important to be checked out and ensure that you're not dehydrated which is a real risk if you can't keep water down even part of the time. My doctor recommended taking really tiny sips of water little and often (I found putting a slice of lemon in the glass made it more likely to stay down) saying that in small quantities water gets absorbed really quickly.
Â
I have my 16 week appointment this week - seems like ages since I last saw the midwife, fingers crossed she'll be able to hear the heartbeat. I'm slightly worried that I don't really seem to be gaining weight - if you count from my pre-pregnancy weight I've only gained half a kilo rather than 2-4 which is apparently normal at this stage. That said, I did lose about 1.5 kg in the first trimester due to vomiting, so I suppose I've gained 2kg from my lowest weight point! I console myself that a definite bump has appeared in the last fortnight, even if it's far more obvious to me than anyone else!

I'm glad I'm not the only one blaming a poor innocent foetus for belches, farts and general rumblings!

And we're coming up to the final straight now, Merk and Thunder neck and neck, spectators cheering them on wildly...

Tallyra · 17/03/2014 12:20

Jess, it looks to me like you've gained the right amount. Losing weight at the beginning just means you don't look as pudgy as me (for some reason I didn't lose much this time despite being so sick)!

Sid, can you or dh get to the chemist and ask for some ketostix? You wee on them and they tell you how dehydrated you are. Up to 2+ you are managing ok, 3+ means see the doctor for meds ASAP and 4+ means you need fluid so get yourself to a+e. They only cost a fiver or so and I think you can get them on Amazon too.

SidneyBristow · 17/03/2014 13:20

Things I think are better today; not vommed (yet) and feeling more energetic and hopeful that perhaps the worst is over. I have better luck with ice cold water than I do tepid - but can keep apple juice, Coke etc down no problem. I think my intake overall is fine, but have learned to avoid anything that isn't iced. very weird bc up until 2-3 weeks ago, I was constantly thirsty and went through 2-3 liters of water (any temp) a day.

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/03/2014 16:31

Jess I have not been weighed since booking so I have no idea about weight gain, but I wouldn't worry about it too much
Sid glad today seems a bit better. However don't feel you have to struggle through if it gets bad again, help from the docs is available (think Foody got some help too)
I have done nothing today, really nothing, other than doze, read and eat popcorn Blush Still having BH but I only know now as my bump is going hard quite regularly, all feeling of tightening has gone

OP posts:
Foodylicious · 17/03/2014 17:49

sid glad you are feeling a bit better, but as merk said, don't struggle on too long. I did not reach the stage where I was at any physical risk really as I was almost always able to eat immediately after voming and managed to stay hydrated with alot of effort (so actually put on weight in the end!). I was off work for 5 weeks before I started taking anything as you try not to take anything you don't need to. Really wish I had not waited so long. I knew I felt pretty awful but had kind of got used to not getting dressed/leaving the house etc. Was only when I started feeling better that I realised how bad I had been!
As the others have said too though, tally really is the expert on this one

boom really hope you have a fab time away, you deserve it!

merk&thunder OMG you both sound like you are getting close, eek!

jess don't worry about the weight - there area few calcultors online that you can check out. Though I have over all put on about the right amount of weight (am right up at the top end of what I should be) the weight has not gone on steadily. Some months I have piled loads (more than I should) on at once, other weeks and months its stayed the same for a bit.

I take my exhaustion as a good sign that regardless of what I do baby is taking all he/she needs Grin

BlindKitty · 17/03/2014 18:12

boom I had a dream you had 2 girls last night!!! Make sure you have a fabulous holiday!!!

merk was going to say given most of us are over 30 I think most of our boobs with rest on the bump! I remember someone once saying that if you put a pencil under your boobs and it fell out you had pert boobs...I think I can fit a whole bastard pencil case up there Grin

sid your urine should be a pale straw colour. If you're unsure you can find pee charts on the net. Sounds like you'll be hydrated today anyway.

bunny isn't it your scan soon???

so day 1 of my nutrition event a success. Got my big event tomorrow which I'm bricking it about! Got 70 people coming including director of nursing and director if medicine. I've now taken myself to bed for a bit with sheer exhaustion! Roll on Friday!

Foodylicious · 17/03/2014 18:14

tee hee merk, I have been saying that about the pencil case for years. Maybe now I can fit a small section of WH Smiths under there Grin

PoppySeedBun · 17/03/2014 19:03

hello all - lots of activity on here over the weekend!

boom hope you have a lovely time away (if you're still reading) and that you're feeling a bit better about the birth. There's only so much you can control, and I'm sure some of us are heading for emcs too, we just don't know it yet. Whatever gets them out safely is the right thing to do.

merk & thunder keeping a close eye out for your symptoms so I know what I'm looking for when I get there. Fx for progress soon, if only because the BH and soreness sounds like no fun at all

PoppySeedBun · 17/03/2014 19:06

Oh, and re: gardening, I attempted a bit at the weekend too, but the basic problem is that most of it's on the ground - bump a definite barrier! Did a few bits and pieces and then sat in the sun with tea Smile

Totally exhausted today. My back has started to get sore and tense in the afternoons, making it really uncomfortable to sit at my desk, even with gym ball and lots of pacing around. But today had to stay until doc finished and sent. Can't wait for mat leave - 2 weeks more. Sad

BlindKitty · 17/03/2014 19:24

poppy remind me how many weeks you are now? I feel really pregnant today! I'm usually nipping around with shed loads of energy but today I'm exhausted, short of breath, got palpitations, indigestion and trapped wind...suppose it was about time my easy ride came to an end Grin

Bunnygirlie · 17/03/2014 19:46

thunder I know babies are due this week but most are late lol

sid sorry to hear your MS is really bad, I am glad I can eat. I can usually keep on top of mine by eating (loads) but the dry heaving is knackering!

kitty Crikey I have such small boobs I have never been able to put any item of stationery under them lol
Good luck for your big event x

In bunnyland, I have added to the weird google searches with -pregnant and boobs aren't changing. Are there any weirder googles than when pg or TTC?!?!?

Had another bad day at work, I reckon I am crying more than working at the mo. Hubby really sweet, He said this is too important a time to stress and worry so if it gets too much then I can leave, we'd cope. Bit drastic but lovely of him and nice that he's on my side.

Yep scan is Friday, scared much!

BlindKitty · 17/03/2014 19:50

bunny isn't your Dh a director? Can't he just take some work off you to ease the stress?

Foodylicious · 17/03/2014 19:51

Lovely DH bunny Smile

Oooh, new one this week - having had large but not sore boobs for quite a while now they are really achey and super sore/sensitive nips, even showering was sore Sad

So don't worry about the boobs bunny everyone's have been different, has google come up with anything interesting though???

Foodylicious · 17/03/2014 19:59

not sure if it helps bunny as I am sure you have found plenty saying the same , but found this
"A minority of women notice no significant change in their breasts until their milk comes in, around three days after delivery of their baby. Some find that the expansion takes place so gradually that it’s not perceptible. As with all things in pregnancy, what’s normal is what’s normal for your breasts. You may be concerned about insufficient glandular tissue (IGT) or breast hypoplasia. Don’t worry, though slower growth means you won’t have to replace bras so often, it is unlikely to have any impact on your ability to breastfeed. Studies have found that there is no association between breast growth during pregnancy and subsequent milk production (Hytten 1995, Cox et al 1999)"

BlindKitty · 17/03/2014 20:07

Guys, just found another 'birth' programme on! It's on virgin catch up and called 'the country midwife'

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/03/2014 20:47

Thunder how's the bum pressure?

OP posts:
Thunderpantsarego · 17/03/2014 20:55

There's a question merk!

It's pretty full on and the cramping too. It all eased a bit in the middle of the day but by this afternoon I have been feeling really sick and like I can't get comfortable. Back in bed at the moment with strong period cramps and bum pressure. How are you?

I agree with other comments about bit worrying about weight, boobs or tiredness- just go with it if you can- usually I found that your body is pretty clear at giving signals.

kitty well done with the work do- sounds like a great success! Good luck for tomorrow too.

bunny good DH Smile
And yes most babies are indeed late- I think mine will be no exception...

BlindKitty · 17/03/2014 21:08

Actually it's no obem...although a Dh has just put his wife's placenta in a placcy bag to give to his mate to cook.....

Thunderpantsarego · 17/03/2014 21:10
CatsCantFlyFast · 17/03/2014 21:33

Thunder I know you are in denial but
you want to start admitting that this is perhaps early labour for you
Nothing exciting here, painless BH still going
