Nuchal results on mums over 35

Ive decided due to my age to have the harmony test 10 weeks at incase my nuchal comes back high risk but am interested to hear if many mums over 35 have had really low risk scores back?

Also interested in high risk to for balance.

Mine was 1 in 190 which was classed as low risk but slightly higher than the average for my age (37). My son is fine though.

In my area most births are to mums of 35+ (due to property prices etc' people only start families 30+) and amongst my 35+ peers people don't go for Harmony unless they get a high risk result as an alternative to invasive tests. I am planning the same (currently waiting for results). I notice friends from other areas where older mums are rarer tend to be cautious.

I believe the average for 35-40 is still 1/350 so way under even 1% chance.

I got something like 1 in 35000. It was so low risk I rang to check as I didn't know it went that low. I was 34 when pregnant by a whisker, so 35 when had test.

I had nuchal fold tests at 38 and 41, they both came back really low; in the 1000s, can't remember exactly what now. But I know for the second I walked in with a 1 in 95 chance on age alone and walked out with almost lowest chance possible.

38 and 1/1757, which I was pretty happy with but the Harmony test wasn't available to me here. I think I would have gone for it if it had been.

I've just had mine and combined test came back 1 in 9300 (I'm 35)

I had 1 in 21000 at 37. Remember it's combined not just on the nuchal thickness. That was 2.3mm for me (though I was 13+4 at scan) so I thought the risk would come back higher than this. DP and I had already decided what our threshold would be for further tests so the combined result came as a lovely surprise.

38 and 1:2400 .... Had harmony test done as part of a free nhs trial and it was 1:10000

DD at 35, pg with DC2 at 37. Both low risk after nuchal combined test.

I also had the Harmony. My age related risk for Down's syndrome was 1/130. My combined result came back at 1/2600, so pretty reassuring (and the Harmony came back at 1/10000). I'm 38, btw.

I'm 37 and my adjusted risk of trisomy 21 is 1:5711, 18 is 1:67396 and 13 is 1:158655. That figure for Downs is considered low risk. Baby's shown no markers for Downs at either scan so far so I didn't consider further testing.

This baby's nuchal measurement was lower than DC1's and he's fine so I haven't been concerned.

At 38 it was 1 / 940

gunwallow my bHCG level was three times the average. That was what was skewering my result. I didn't have any extra tests but I did have a very thorough anomaly scan with a fetal medicine consultant who didn't find any problems or further markers for Downs. Had I been 25 and got the same result then I would've pushed for more testing as 1 in 190 would be way beyond the average for my age but as it was only just higher than average for 37 I left it. The NT measurement was only 1.5mm, nasal bone was very visible and all my other blood results were fine, so I guess I just have a naturally higher bHCG level.

Not sure if you are in London but I think the Harmony test is available on the NHS at King's College hospital.

At almost 35 I got 1:100000, had to check and recheck but was right. Then my midwife pointed out I could always be 'the 1'. Yes thanks for that!

I'm 37 and mine was 1:59. I had the Harmony x

I would recommend getting it done at 10 weeks if you can to avoid the worry of a high risk result at your 12 week screening and the awful 2 week wait afterwards...

I'm 35 and my nuchal fold measurement was 6.88, blood results low risk. Advised to have CVS. Based on measurement alone I was told 60% chance of some type of chromosome disorder and unfortunately we didn't get good news. Hoping my post doesn't upset you, I know you asked for low and high results. This time round it didn't work out for us but that is certainly not the case for everyone and some ladies even with a high measurement have no abnormalities detected and go on to deliver a healthy baby. Not giving up with increasing our family though and wishing you lots of luck and good health

Thanks for all your responses I am probably being over cautious getting the harmony at 10 weeks but being a anxious person for my own peace of mind its worth it. Its great to see all the over 35s getting low risk :)

Thank you. We will definitely be looking into getting the Harmony test when I fall pregnant again although genetics team don't consider me to be high risk of having the same problem. Fingers crossed though

Early next week Gun - though when I was in the hospital this week the midwife said it would definitely be by today so I got all psyched up and am now fed up!

Some people of course decline the screening altogether. It never occurred to me to decline any screening as I didn't think through the worry or decision making it might involve.
