Bump nicknames

We're trying to agree on a nickname for our LO.

It's something we've done with the more recent babies in my family (my young cousins are nicknamed P-nut and Pebbles) and I like the idea of giving LO a nickname which could potentially extend to after birth.

I just want something to call 'it' really other than 'it' or baby. And it would be good to have a code name incase anyone over hears anything before we want to tell anyone.

What were/ are your nicknames and how did they come about? Looking for ideas really :)

I called my baby pickle while I was pregnant and still occasionally call her pic or pickle now!

Jolleigh · 04/03/2014 23:51

We've always called ours 'the alien' Confused Quite apt at 37 weeks now!

HannahG315 · 05/03/2014 03:04

BUMPASUARUS.

My fave

HannahG315 · 05/03/2014 03:04

At 39 weeks I know refer to him as the 'little succubus' though... I'm a terrible person

HannahG315 · 05/03/2014 03:06

Aaa ah I just googled succubus! I always though it meant something that sucked the life from you- I was wrong... Confused

jaykay987 · 05/03/2014 05:57

jaykay987 · 05/03/2014 05:57

Pancake is a good one! :-)

DS1 was T Rex, because of the way he was stomping around inside.
DD was Bean.
The bump before finding out twins- squidge.

AuditAngel · 05/03/2014 06:16

DS was Wibble
DD1 was Wibleena (basically a feminine version of Wibble. We didn't know the sex either time round)
DD2 was "The Thing" because for the first time (including a MC between DS and DD1) I had morning sickness and I'm an emetaphobe

We knew what names we wanted if it was a girl or a boy so took the first half of both names and used that

Snowlet · 05/03/2014 10:04

We joked for ages (Ziggy Stardust, Zeus, etc) but then started using a full comedy name of Alfred Fred Fredrickson which then became 'Freddie' (even before we knew it was boy or girl) - it's stuck so much that we're now considering Frederick for a middle name :)

Dazedconfused · 05/03/2014 10:05

I call mine bean it's quite apt given my name and my DH has taken to calling it Norbert but no idea why

Giraffeski · 05/03/2014 10:14

Dd1 no nickname, DD2 'Dave' and then later on 'the Hegg' (for hairy egg, I grew a nice crop of fluffy down on my bump).
DC3 , no nickname yet but am only 4 weeks!

spiderlight · 05/03/2014 10:15

DS was Bod.

MissSlackPants84 · 05/03/2014 10:25

My partners surname is white so bumps name is Barry. Poor kiddie will be stuck with that nickname forever now lol

misskgb · 05/03/2014 10:48

No idea where it came from but I called mine Rice Krispie the other day. Very early stages so dh hasn't joined me in calling it anything yet!

Howly · 05/03/2014 11:36

We call ours 'Owly' or 'BumpE Owl' because my husband is a huge sheffield wednesday fan and they are known as the Owls, so he's hoping for a mini owl! (the E on the Bump comes from our surname starting with an E, I'm known as Mrs E to the children I teach!)
now liking the name Oliver if its a boy, so he will be Ollie Owl!

Howly · 05/03/2014 11:37

or more recently 'Oleg' after the baby meerkat on the compare the market advert - this was started by my mother!!

Mama1980 · 05/03/2014 11:38

weebairn · 05/03/2014 11:40

First was squid which stuck for about a month after birth then vanished.
This one is wolf!

Ludways · 05/03/2014 11:46

Buster, came out a healthy 8lb 8oz boy. He's 12 now and a strapping lad.
Candle, ds picked this, to help him connect. It was the first thing his eyes landed on when looking around the room after we asked him. We're lucky it was a candle and not an egg sandwich, lol

alita7 · 05/03/2014 12:09

Wow you've all got some interesting names!!

My OH is useless- his ideas are awful!

We might be settling on ninja :)

Ours is usually called Sprout, but recently morphed into Sproucho after a holiday in Spain.

Also Number 3, as he's the third of us and DH is a Bond fan (Bond villain's name).

hubbahubster · 05/03/2014 13:01

Another Bumpasaurus here. We still call him Bumpy or Bumpasaur. He's 2.5...

We're calling this one Lumpasaur so far ;)
