Having gone through most of my pregnancy wearing not so sexy maternity bra's i was quite looking forward to buying some sexy underwear until i realised i needed to buy nursing bra's if i was going to breast feed, can anyone recommend any brands that do half decent ones, i can't bear to wear more frumpy underwear!!!!

I just recently bought some from Marks and Spencers, Theyre not the sexiest things in the world but theyre better than some of the ones ive seen. And good thing is you can get measured there too.

adoptedbrother · 11/08/2006 12:35

i loved this when i was bfing. bought it in 3 sizes as my norks dwindled! in fact wore it for a while later it was so comfy.

(sorry, anme change due to another thread)

ja9 · 11/08/2006 12:58

adoptedbrother, i used those ones too. worth every penny imo. i wouldn't say they were especially 'sexy', but the underwire just meant that boobs looked much better generally (with clothes on obviously).

if you're not bothereda bout the underwire, there are some nice ones around - i'll just go look for links...

ja9 · 11/08/2006 13:00

this one is fab

ja9 · 11/08/2006 13:05

or if you like padded

FrannyandZooey · 11/08/2006 13:08

I know this Elle MacPherson bra is hideously expensive but it was worth every penny, for me. So soft to wear and actually looks ok peeking out from a shirt.

wools · 11/08/2006 13:18

I bought a 2 really nice nursing bras in New Look. They are doing a maternity range called "Bloom". I also saw some pretty nursing bras in Hennes Maternity range. Neither of these shops are expensive either.

Is it OK to wear underwired bras if you're breast feeding?

liquidclocks · 11/08/2006 17:49

The elle macpherson ones are worth the pennies!

CodGuevara · 11/08/2006 17:50

lol at bras that g o "up" to and e

cupcakes · 11/08/2006 17:54

I've just ordered an Elle MacPherson La Mere bra which looks very pretty. I think JoJo has the cheapest ones plus they do free postage and MN has a 10% off link.
I'm not bf yet - still only 21 weeks pg but desperate for new bra.

SoupDragon · 11/08/2006 18:04

I tried that one adoptedbrother liked and I didn't like the fabric. F&Z's ElleMcP one (the maternelle) was too bulky for my liking and the La Mere looks fab but I'm finding it itchy (picky aren't I?).

I've got This one which isn't sexy by any means but it's nice and plain and not hideous. And it's cheap!

I've also got one from La Redoute which I can't link to directly - Cocoon microfibre, comes with clear straps as well as plain, about £17. Again, not sexy but nice and plain and not hideous.

Hold on a minute, this has taken all afternoon to sink in, but ja9 linked to a padded nursing bra earlier.....WTF????

FrannyandZooey · 11/08/2006 18:14

Mmiotte, I believe it's now advised that you can wear underwire if it is properly fitted and doesn't press against the breast in any way. It has to just sit underneath against your breastbone. I started wearing underwire myself when ds was over a year and have not had any problems - but I don't know if I would have tried it when he was younger. I regularly got blocked ducts and I don't think underwire could have helped.

Elibean · 11/08/2006 18:23

I still have my hot pink Elle McP one from dd1....am wearing it during pregnancy this time round, its so pretty!

FrannyandZooey · 11/08/2006 18:32

Ooh, hot pink? They only had purple and black when I got mine

May have to get pregnant just so I can get one....hold on, I am still breastfeeding

liquidclocks · 11/08/2006 19:22

I know this is slightly off subject but just been browising from the jojo link and H&M's nursing tops are so much more discreet - they actually look like 'normal' wrap tops.

Elibean · 11/08/2006 20:01

Franny, dh gave it to me for Valentine's present a couple of months after dd was born: by request
I had the purple and black ones too, but let them go a year after I stopped feeding dd and had shrunk out of them...couldn't quite bear to lose the pink one, and hey presto its back in use. I think you're eligible, they're nursing bras not maternity ones!

Elibean · 11/08/2006 20:01

On the other hand, rather like the idea of someone getting pregnant in order to gain one hot pink bra....do it, O do it!

GaribaldiCusack · 11/08/2006 20:05

that Elle Macpherson La Mere one is lovely BUT the biggest cup size on there is DD and none of the bras here go above an F

er...I am DD to start with
v.frustrating that the pretty ones don't go up to what I need (which judging by last time will be at least a G )

I KNOW I am not a freak in this WHY can't they make bigger sizes?

Elibean · 11/08/2006 20:09

Perhaps we should bombard them with feedback on this one - it makes no sense at all that they stop at DD!

sfxmum · 11/08/2006 20:14

figleaves have good selection for all sizes including underwired ones (not to be worn all the time)
Anita (brand name) do a few ok ones

Elibean · 11/08/2006 20:14

The pink one I got was the Elle McP Intimates though, hadn't seen the La Mere one...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 11/08/2006 20:18

i saw a couple nice ones the other day in H&M and they were under a tenner. and colours other than white!
