And that it turned out okay, did you also have cramping? And did you also still 'feel pregnant' whilst bleeding/spotting?
I ask because I am 6 weeks today and having minimal loss/brown discharge, since couple of days ago. I'm not cramping but have the occasional 'spiky' sharp feelings in womb and although the pg symptoms are less, breasts still intermittently sore and nausea on and off.
I realise I might just be clutching at straws here and that it might just be taking its time to miscarry, but as of yet I don't know if I am. I'm due a scan Monday- which seems like forever away Sad

I had cramps - thought it was my period. And some bleeding. I called nhs direct and they said to get a scan - I think I was 5 weeks then. He's 2 years old now!
But I didn't have spikey pain, tender boobs, or nausea. The only 'symptom' I had was feeling faint but I was on blood pressure lowering medication then which didn't help.
I also had some 'red' blood - more than spotting - a few weeks later.
Fingers crossed for you.

I really don't think there is any rhyme or reason to it. Everyone has a different story. Brown is better than red and stabby pains can just be the uterus stretching. As medics will tell you only time will tell. I've been there, it's shit, but all you can do is try and distract yourself and make it to monday.

ChicaMomma · 19/02/2014 17:20

I didnt have any cramps, there was just a red watery bleed which turned brown the following day.. i didnt have any sympthoms either before or after (and still dont at 22 weeks!)

Mine was a 'sub chorionic hematoma', confirmed by a scan, was 10 weeks at the time. They scanned me the week after and it had resolved itself- ie healed up- it was basically a tiny little tear in the placenta, v common apparently.

miki123 · 19/02/2014 17:54

i had light crampy feeling and brown spotting…and not really many other symptoms to be honest (occasional sore breasts
but not ongoing) so was convinced I was miscarrying…and am now happily at 25 weeks :-). The beginning is so tough but you'll feel better after your scan. best of luck xxx

Littlebear88 · 19/02/2014 17:55

I've had bleeding since week 5 I'm 8 weeks now, had scan and everything was ok and we saw the heartbeat. The midwife could give no reason for the bleeding, I've had very mild cramps but nothing like my usual AF cramps! Fxing for the next 4 weeks!

CheesyBadger · 19/02/2014 17:58

I had a week of bleeding, brown mostly, and cramps. Dd is now 3. They suspected implantation bleeding, but the doctor said it is so individual that I had to just wait and see

JonesSchool · 19/02/2014 18:06

Just posted on another thread but think this might be more suitable! Having a horrid day! Will (hopefully) be 5 weeks tomorrow, although have been spotting on and off since last Monday. Nothing too bad, just a very light brown discharge. Well today, made appointment to see doctor but before seeing him had loads of bright red blood on the toilet paper! Doctor thinks baby has gone! I have a scan on Friday, feeling pretty low right now. I don't feel pregnant, no symptoms, nothing, no pain, just a feeling this is not good xxx

EasyCompadre · 19/02/2014 18:12

I had some bleeding at 10 weeks, I'd had cramping and period like pain for a couple of weeks beforehand and it continued for a couple more weeks afterwards. There was a fair amount of blood, not bright red, but not exactly brown either, with mucousy and stringy bits in it. I was scanned and no problems found, am now 31 weeks and all is well, no explanation for the bleeding has been found and no-one is concerned about it. Try to keep your mind off it until you get some answers, best of luck xxx

catbus · 19/02/2014 18:34

Thanks all.
Jones sorry you're having a shitty time of it, too. It's so hard to know how to feel, isn't it?
As others have shown, it might be something, it might be nothing.
I think the lack of pain is what is odd for me... Wishing you much luck for Friday Smile x

I was exactly as you describe. And had bleeding on and off up till 10 weeks. Dd is now 16 weeks and screaming in my ear!

Emberlina76 · 19/02/2014 19:39

I had period cramps for the first 10 weeks which freaked me right out as I didn't have it with my son and have miscarried 3 times, I also have brown spotting for a few days at 6 weeks and again at 9 weeks. Was all fine though xx

SleepyNess · 19/02/2014 20:19

I had cramps and some light red bleeding at 12 wks. A few days before the scan! I called 111 and a very unsympathetic Gp said I was miscarrying.. We went to A&E and I was in such a state that they wheeled the scanner in and scanned me there and then. A little baby was alive, waving his arms and kicking his legs! A&E doctors said they get lots of women with heavy bleeding and happy babies! So try not to worry too much, girls!

I'm 23 weeks pregnant now. Half way!

Xx

HectorVector · 19/02/2014 20:27

I had bleeding at 5, 8, 12, 4 and 16 weeks. Not old brown blood, but full on quantities of fresh red blood (TMI). I never once experienced any pain or cramping. I was investigated for placental issues and as my bump grew it all stopped. DS is now 3 and went to full term with no bleeding after 16 weeks. It was bloody terrifying though.
I'm sorry you're all going through this and fingers crossed everything will turn out well for you.

HectorVector · 19/02/2014 20:30

That's 14 not 4.

Jones I had an epu internal ultrasound at 5 weeks. They saw a sac but no baby but when I had a repeat at 8 weeks they could see the baby. It's awful waiting for the scans. I will keep my fingers crossed for you but to try and reassure you a little my bleeding at 5 weeks was like a period and my GP said there was a good chance I'd lost the baby. I hadn't. So try to keep your hopes up.

vitalia · 19/02/2014 20:43

I had brown bleeding and period type cramps at 6wks in two of my pregnancies. I was still very nauseous though.

vitalia · 19/02/2014 20:44

ps. Both pregnancies resulted in healthy boys

purplemurple1 · 19/02/2014 21:12

I has spotting and cramps weeks 6 to 8 but not at the same time - ds was born healthy at 39 week's.

This time I've had bleeding and cramping at the same time at 5.5 week's pretty sure its a mc but not confirmed yet.

mssleepyhead · 20/02/2014 10:46

Good luck on Monday Catbus.

I had brown spotting at 7 weeks and then again for two weeks at 11 and 12 weeks. I think the only reason it's stopped now is because I'm on half term (I'm a teacher) and have spent much of the week with my feet up. I'm half expecting it to come back as soon as I start up again.

My spotting was either tiny amounts of brown blood (but enough to make my heart race!) or light brown discharge. I didn't have cramps, just the spotting. At 7 weeks, I didn't really have many symptoms anyway; until then I was mainly just a bit tired and had sore boobs but at 8 weeks nausea and exhaustion hit. So I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of symptoms.

I was sent to the EPU by my doctor who found a heartbeat at 7 weeks. In between the 11 and 12 week brown discharge we paid for a private scan because my husband couldn't make it to the EPU and I was scared of getting bad news on my own. That scan showed a 12 week old baby : ) And the Monday just gone showed us out 13 week old.

So far, no one has been able to explain the spotting/discharge. The EPU suggested it might be old implantation blood, but I don't think I'd still have been getting that at 11/12 weeks. The scans have found nothing at all. I'm trying to take reassurance from the fact that also no one seems particularly bothered by it. When I mentioned it to a nurse on Wednesday she just said, oh, that'll be nothing, don't worry. So, ok. Unless it gets much heavier or turns red, I'm trying to take their advice.

I know it's really worrying, but fingers crossed you get good news on Monday too.

catbus · 20/02/2014 12:13

Thanks for all your replies Smile
I don't suppose there is much point doing another test? Today I'm not feeling particularly pg- my 'loss'/ discharge varies between brown and a rusty colour and is still very light. Still no pain either..

Thank you for this post. I'm 6.5 weeks and have been spotting brown for the last two weeks. In the last couple of days though I've had two incidences of bright red blood when I've been to the toilet. I'm terrified... Had some pain at the start of the week too. Have an early scan tomorrow morning and I'm so terrified. This is a very wanted baby. I'm still feeling really nauseous, exhausted, sore boobs - hoping that's a good sign? X

catbus · 20/02/2014 12:50

Just wanted to say I will be thinking of you tomorrow, Kels.
As the above posts have shown, it doesn't always mean bad news. Fx for you Smile x

Kels and catbus, I'm in very much the same boat, 5+3 and I've been spotting (VERY lightly) for the past 3 days. Just like you I've got many other pregnancy symptoms, so hopefully that counts for something. I'm terrified though, especially as I've had an ectopic before... My scan is tomorrow, will be thinking of you both and crossing my fingers that the news is positive for all of us!

Kels13 · 20/02/2014 18:05

Thank you catbus / rubyonthedust. Hope things work out for you both too. X

catbus · 20/02/2014 18:17

My loss is getting a bit heavier now and I've got dragging pains/ dull cramping. I think in my head I already know it's just a matter of time, which I'm actually a bit scared about as last time was awful Sad

OP posts:
catbus · 20/02/2014 18:19

Thinking of you too, Rubyinthedust Smile Really hope you both have good news x
