Currently 18+3 with DC5 and got the pregnancy rage. Just thought it might be therapeutic to share some of those annoying comments. Here are mine:

There's no way you're going to go full term (really hate this, feel like they're wishing a premature baby on me)

It would be so lovely if you have a girl this time (I don't really care)

It's definitely twins (with ds4, after 9 scans showed 1 baby)

Aside from the usual comments on eating for 2 if I have anything more than a lettuce leaf for lunch I have had a collegue ask when my parasite was fully grown! WTF who says things like that! Also I am having a second DD and a stranger said "oh its a shame you can't pick the sex its nice to have one of each" fuming I am very happy to be having another DD why do people assume you want one of each?

LouisaJF · 07/02/2014 11:57

"Wow, you're huuuuuuge" - yeah, thanks.

"Were you disappointed it wasn't a girl?" - no, it's a healthy baby, I'm very lucky.

Catsize · 07/02/2014 12:14

'Is it the same father?' (We are two mums who had IUI treatment for DS and I am now pregnant again). Several people have asked. One woman (on finding out it was) said 'oh, that's nice. A proper relative'. Confused
No doubt made my partner feel super special when she went on to say 'it will have its mum, the father (not really), and, erm, you!).

Also, mil when I was six months with DS 'I've never seen you looking so slim'.

At 8mths, about to stop work, lots of people said 'you're pregnant?'. Okay, so a maternity suit jacket hides a lot, but really???

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 07/02/2014 13:03

Ooh! I've just thought of another!
still bitter about this
On holiday in the Lakes, 8 weeks pg.
"you CAN climb Catbells. We'll take it slow, think how proud of yourself you'll be when you get to the top." Hmm

Hmm. Actually I can barely keep my breakfast down, all I want to do is sleep and its the exact day in this pg that I MC in the last. I know I CAN do it, I just don't fecking want to! I want to curl up on a sofa somewhere with in easy reach of a toilet and some comfort TV!

loopylou52 · 07/02/2014 13:50

Love this thread - amazing the things people come out with!

At 24 weeks pregnant I showed my dad a picture of a teddy bear we'd just bought as our baby's first toy. He said 'that's a bit presumptuous isn't it?'. Hmm

livingzuid · 07/02/2014 13:58

I have to say my mum has been the worst by far! I've stopped telling her stuff now Grin

And catsize your poor Dh!

Cariad007 · 07/02/2014 14:15

People also use the world "allowed " so much - are you allowed to do this, are you allowed to eat that. It's like they think there's some Great Pregnancy God who we all have to answer to and who dictates what we can and cannot do!

rockin20s · 07/02/2014 14:25

i haven't told many people yet but i have told me boss as my work includes some lifting. his first comment was 'was it planned?'

AH YES WE ARE JUST BACK FROM HONEYMOON, SO YA IT WAS PLANNED Shock

i think the 'is it planned comment' just gets blurted out without people thinking about how personnel a question it is

livingzuid · 07/02/2014 15:57

cariad Grin And aren't dps / dhs the worst at doing that! Mine is anyway I got so cross with him today for saying are you allowed to go to concerts Confused I know it's concern and love but omg!

Cariad007 · 07/02/2014 16:30

Haha, DP knows better than to ask me that as I'm 12 years older than him and worked for a parenting/childbirth organisation for many years! I just get it from random people like the woman at the gym who saw me in the change room, abruptly asked how pregnant I was and when I said 8 months asked if I was "allowed" to still exercise!!

Expectingtwins1975 · 07/02/2014 17:25

If one more person says "oh you'll be getting a new car then" I might punch them in the face ...... Got a brand new fiesta about 6 months ago - think it will fit me and 2 babies in thanks very much !!! Arseholes

Cariad007 · 07/02/2014 17:45

That's funny, as I met a lady today who couldn't believe that we wouldn't be getting a car after baby was born as she didn't see how you could be without one if you had a baby! But personally I think that since I live in London within 5 minutes of a bus or tube, a car is really not needed!

PastaandCheese · 07/02/2014 19:26

I had a very annoying comment today from the Ocado man.

'ooo, not long to go by the looks of it. You won't have it now will you? I've seen my wife give birth and I don't want to see it again'.

Soooo, you are really saying that in the 40 odd seconds you are at my door I will spontaneously go into labour and your non existent midwifery skills will be called into action.

Yeah. Right-O.

Expectingtwins1975 · 07/02/2014 19:30

It's like they think cause I'm having twins I will suddenly need a mini bus. My mum brought 5 kids up, she didn't have a car and can't say we even noticed.

elliejjtiny · 07/02/2014 20:10

Saggy I used to help at a Christmas disco for young adults who have learning difficulties. I'll always remember this lovely young man who had downs syndrome who had half the girls queuing up to dance with him Grin. Sorry if that's equally annoying and on a par with people coming up to me when I'm trying to manhandle a screaming DS2 and saying "aww, they're so loving aren't they". I have 2 DS's who have SN. DS4 is very "loving", DS2 is mostly frustrated.

Hubbythecatandme · 07/02/2014 20:14

OMG I cannot believe the stuff some of you have been told!!!!!!
Mine are:

"You want to take it easy with the exercising now" (Really? I was planning on going horse riding next week!)
"Are you eating sardines again? You wanna watch yourself, oily fish are a no-no" (there is no mercury in sardines, I have checked all the guidelines for things like tuna so shurrup!)
"Now you've had your early scan and everything is fine you have to start looking after yourself" (and what I have been doing up to now is...??)

Hubbythecatandme · 07/02/2014 20:23

People telling us we are going to be skint all the time wind me up as well... I mean they should know that a) hubby and I are frugal, always have been b) as business owners there is no way we are going to become guilt ridden consumers who think they are bad parents if they don't buy all the fashionable / expensive stuff!!! c) we are not going to go spend ludicrous amounts of cash in Mammas and Papas nursery set when you can get most things on ebay or baby fairs for next to nothing!!
So another case of shut up!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 07/02/2014 20:53

Grin Ellie. I'd forgotten "they're so loving"! I hope so, because DD1 is a stroppy moody little git moat of the time! it'll be nice to have a child that loves me! Wink

ChaffinchOfDoom · 07/02/2014 21:24

it's your third??!!??!!??!! you MUST be Mad.
so was it planned?!!

agree what a horrid shitbird of a question that one is

yes, I was sick every day of my pg too, but I never needed to go on a drip

DownstairsMixUp · 07/02/2014 21:33

I haven't had any (yet) but had some corkers in my first pregnancy, all been mentioned above!

A colleague of mine though is only 12 weeks at the moment and this is her fourth DC, she is quite big at the moment in all honesty, someone said, "Nearly time to pop for you then!" sooo awkward!

LePetitPont · 07/02/2014 22:01

cariad I am only 8 weeks so not told anyone yet but I know for a fact this is going to annoy the living hell out of me. I know the key culprits already: blooming mil who is a bit of an interferer and v cautious and my best friend's husband who was ridiculous throughout her entire pregnancy!

Becky2208 · 09/02/2014 11:45

My personal favourite came from dh's father, who told me in all seriousness "we hope the baby has his looks and your brains." I wanted to punch him. I'm not sure which one of us was more offended!

squizita · 09/02/2014 12:03

Not even told most people BUT they know I'm on blood thinning medication (and work 12hr days). They don't even know about the usual nausea/tiredness and huge psychological stress on 1st Tri after serveral MC on top of that...

Sympathetic friend (DH, DCs, job, health issues): Ooh, if the meds make you woozy how are you managing? Will be tough when you're in the 1st 12 weeks...

Non Sympathetic Friend (No DH, no DCs, no job, lives with parents) HER HUSBAND DOES ALL THE HOUSEWORK AT THE MOMENT!! (Said as if this makes us utter freaks and means I am not mum material at all, this is the funniest thing ever!). HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

I felt utterly lazy and useless. :( Husband works 8 hr days more locally than me and is perfectly happy to do a share of the housework while my head is down the loo vomiting.

Angry
HelenHen · 09/02/2014 13:40

I'm on my second and haven't really had any comments yet or maybe I just dobt93 care lol. One that always bothers me though is the sympathetic 'how are you feeling?' in place of 'how are you?' heh, I'm not dying!

HelenHen · 09/02/2014 14:02

I was chatting over the wall to mils nextdoor neighbour who id never spoken to before. She proceeded to ask me about my gallstones Shock I've b
