Bunnygirlie · 27/02/2014 20:49

Sorry puppy cross posted. Hope baby wriggly soon x

sid I found my tummy did all sorts of strange rumbles and stretchey things, berries said it was womb stretching!

kitty she is coming to the house, hope she is nice!

CatsCantFlyFast · 27/02/2014 20:49

Puppy please try the cold drink/hot drink/lying on your left trick to get baby moving. If it doesn't work ring the midwife tonight... I'm certain everything will be fine but please please don't risk it by waiting til tomorrow

Tallyra · 27/02/2014 21:03

If you are having trouble cleaning your teeth bunny, try children's strawberry flavour or similar.
Sid, try not to panic. We have all felt odd cramping or stretching at different times xxxxx

Bunnygirlie · 27/02/2014 21:10

Thanks tally do you think it's the mint then? I can only cope with chewing gum for a short while too.

How you doing today?

Boomgoestheweasel · 27/02/2014 21:21

puppy have you had some wriggles? If not just call your maternity assessment unit and go down now. It's usually absolutely nothing but if you don't think the baby's been moving normally then you should get it monitored ASAP just to check. Sorry to come in and be all bossy but this is definitely a case of better safe than sorry!

PuppyMummy · 27/02/2014 21:23

honestly, moving house is supposed to be the most stressful thing you can do. its got nothing on trying to get pregnant then the subsequent 9 months!

Hav had some cold fizzy drink and am laid in bed watching tv, have had a few big twitches much more like normal so feeling a little better.

also on inspection of bump in mirror it is a different shape to normal so I wonder if he has turned so his back is along the front of my bump so his movents r going inward rather than out like they normally do.

Need to speak to midwife tomorow to chase up anti-d injection appt so will mention it too and see what she says.

Tallyra · 27/02/2014 21:38

That sounds relieving puppy.
Bunny, I don't know if it's the mint or just the action of brushing but it's not unusual. If you want a bit of advice, take a look at the Hyperesis support thread. You may not be that bad but I'm pretty sure you could use a lot of the advice. There is also a very helpful list of foods to try that someone has posted in the last day or so.

Thunderpantsarego · 28/02/2014 07:39

Morning all.

Good to see bubs moving puppy, I had quite a few of those moments earlier on. It's a horrible worry like the majority of things in pregnancy

sid crampy feelings- totally normal as far as I know. There's an awful lot going on down there so a bit of moving and stretching is bound to feel odd? I think I've had crampiness on and off throughout- like you say nothing sharp and just keep an eye in case there's any blood. Not always a bad sign but one to get checked out x

bunny I did loads of gagging early on. Dead glamorous, I'd just be walking down the street and start gagging at times. Picking up dog poo did not help. Good luck with the appointment. No need to be nervous at all unless you're frightened of forms or biros?

PoppySeedBun · 28/02/2014 08:46

bunny re: gagging, I found brushing my teeth in the morning one of the most reliable triggers for vomming, though never bothered me in the evening. Tried not to jab at the back of my mouth too much. Worth trying a different toothpaste to see if that helps though. Good luck with your appointment.

thunder full term? Eek! Only 4 more weeks of work for me and then I'll be there too - double eek!

tally sympathy for your rubbish day. I had an annoying commute in yesterday. Almost lost it with the guy on the tube who wouldn't move down the carriage because he was getting off at the next stop, despite the fact that I only wanted to go one stop (lazy walking avoidance) and couldn't get on at all if he didn't move down. Ended up pushing past him roughly and possibly squashing some schoolchildren on the way in but then was in tears coming up the escalator when I got off :(

puppy hope baby has been wriggling all over since last night and that MW gives some reassurance today too.

CatsCantFlyFast · 28/02/2014 12:29

Thunder is this your last day at work?

Thunderpantsarego · 28/02/2014 14:51

Yessssssss Grin

Bunnygirlie · 28/02/2014 15:11

puppy hope baby is still wriggly and you had reassurance from midwife, how you doing?

tally thanks for the advice, lots of helpful info on the other forum. Will try some different toothpaste too

OMG Thunder, last day at work Shock Grin

Booking in appointment was fine, she was here about an hour and filled in lots of forms. She seemed nice, next step 12 week scan Shock

I have a question, midwife mentioned the downs testing that is offered at 12 weeks, scan and blood test. We need to decide whether we want it or not. Just wondered if you all had it, on the NHS or a private one?

CatsCantFlyFast · 28/02/2014 16:33

I had both the combined test (NHS) and Harmony privately. Harmony also told us the gender @ 12 weeks Grin

jessplussomeonenew · 28/02/2014 16:40

Bunny, not sure if you saw my message upthread, but given my experience of both NHS and private I'd recommend that you consider doing the private Harmony test at 10 weeks if you can. Happy to answer any questions you have about either NHS or private tests as it's all rather fresh in my mind right now!

jessplussomeonenew · 28/02/2014 16:41

Bunny, forgot to say that mouthwash can be good for those times when you really can't face brushing!

Foodylicious · 28/02/2014 16:51

bunny I had the nhs scan & bloods

CatsCantFlyFast · 28/02/2014 16:54

Meant to say, if anybody wants to treat themselves I will highly recommend the Isabella Oliver treggings. Simply the most comfy thing I have worn all pregnancy. They're ££ but super super soft, long, and thicker than a normal legging so can be worn as trousers. I suspect these will be worn for months after birth too. Probably only the second piece of mat wear I have actually been happy with!

BlearyeyedLol · 28/02/2014 17:43

Bunny I only had the combined scan on the Nhs and was going to have harmony if odds were high- but like Jess said you could end up having to wait for a long time before you can put your mind at rest!
Thunder welcome to mat leave!!! It's fun I promise! Merk are you on mat leave too? And boom when do you go?
I'm so excited about more berry babies GrinGrin

BlindKitty · 28/02/2014 17:49

bunny initially I thought I wouldn't bother. Think the whole thing scared the shit out of me. In the end I had the nuchal fold and scan.

So remember I talked about jumping ship re birthing centres...how amazing does this place look.. halcyon

OP posts:
PuppyMummy · 28/02/2014 18:03

bunny we just had the nhs nuchal fold and blood test.

Didnt manage to get the midwife as she had finished at 4 when I rang! was too busy at work to ring earlier.

baby is back to his normal wriggly self today plenty of twitches and wriggles so was obviously having a quiet day yesterday. phew! panic over (til next time!)

anyway happy friday everyone, have a good weekend! Smile

Bunnygirlie · 28/02/2014 18:11

Hmmmmm if I hadn't been on this thread I wouldn't even have heard of harmony tests. Plus i don't think the is anywhere local that do them. Why are they better than the NHS ones?

Bunnygirlie · 28/02/2014 18:11

Puppy so glad the wiggles are back!

Thunderpantsarego · 28/02/2014 18:12

Finished!! Bonkers Grin

bunny I just had NHS ones. Might have considered more tests if risks were higher, not sure

CatsCantFlyFast · 28/02/2014 18:27

Bunny the NHS combined test uses blood test results and the scan (and your age)
to calculate a risk of the baby having downs, so you get a result of say 1 in 5 or 1 in 8000. Even with 1 in 8000 your baby could still be the 1 with Downs, conversely with a 1 in 5 risk 4 out of 5 babies will not have Downs. If your results are classed as high risk you will be offered an invasive test (which carries a risk of miscarriage) to tell you for certain whether the baby has Downs or not.
Harmony tests are only available privately. They are a simple blood test that calculates the risk of Downs however there are only 2 possible results; 1:2 or 1:10000. As far as I know there are no reported incorrect results (ie a 1:10000 result is negative and has never been given where the pregnancy resulted in a baby with Downs). If you get a 1:2 result I think most clinics then offer a free invasive test to confirm.
The question you need to ask yourself IMO is what you would do if you got x result or y result. Then you can potentially determine how much certainty you want from the trying you choose to have, and that will direct you towards a particular test(s) or you may choose to have no tests at all

Thunder YEY to no more work GrinGrinGrin

SidneyBristow · 28/02/2014 23:13

Ooh merk, these treggings! tell me more. Where'd you get them? I was eyeing the zulily IO section today and wondering if their boyfriend jeans were substantially better than Gap maternity jeans. As it is now, I live in yoga pants and smart French terry lounge pants (ie uppity-named fitted jogging pants) but would like to have some truly cute, well-fitting mat clothes when the need arises. Without looking like I'm wearing a floral couch slipcover. So much of it is just too mumsy for words.
