I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi ladies, have been lurking. Think it's set in fully meds were erratic but now seem useless. Nothing staying down and head banging. Just acid bile tormenting me. Do out of hours GP have ketone sticks? Bad fog here till mid morning it says and hosp down a v winding route. Dh doesn't drive and sister has baby so can't call in her. I think I need drip etc ASAP. Eek feel silly for getting to this point.

Tallyra · 13/03/2014 02:59

yrs out of hours probably should have ketostix. will someone be able to come to you? it definitely does sound like you are badly dehydrated. Sad

Pickofthepops · 13/03/2014 03:45

Thanks 111 said yes I bumped my head on wall being sick and so they said I needed ambulance!! Confused But got call back from 999 who ran though things and said go to gp am. No middle ground it seems. Have gone downhill so quick

Booboostoo · 13/03/2014 06:52

Pickofthepops I hope you managed to get some help and are feeling better!

PunkStar · 13/03/2014 07:38

Pickofthepops
Oh noes!
How dreadful to be told to wait, I hope you get seen promptly this morning, you sound dehydrated :-(

In other news....I survived a day at work!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a bit like a wind-up doll, getting slower and slower and slower.
Didn't even vomit until I started to drive home....all over myself!!!!!
Was pretty ill l by the time I got home like. could barely move, I also have a hoarse voice from the steroids which was 100 times worse. Although it's annoying it has added to the overall patheticness and has gained me lots of sympathy.....'ooooo your voice, you must be REALLY ill!'

Anyway, could not work two consecutive days. Feel dreadful today, breakfast already up (my bedroom had the smell of 'human')

But, I did it :-)

Rest now....until next Wednesday!

mrsb87 · 13/03/2014 08:12

Well done punk. That's one hell of an achievement. I'm sorry you were so ill on your way home though, how awful for you! I bet you're feeling good about your day though. Do you work in an office?

Oh dear pickofthepops, I hope they get you rehydrated asap, it sounds like you're in a bit of a state Sad. Chin up chick you'll feel better once you've had your IV.

Well I have visitors today! My lovely SIL and baby niece Bethan are coming over to cheer me up. I also have a friend coming over whose hair I'm doing for her wedding next month so we're going to play with a few ideas which I'm looking forward to. All in all I think today is going to be good!

Meerka · 13/03/2014 08:18

Heck pick - I hope you manage to get to a doctor quick this morning and to a hospital if need be - sounds like you need one. Please let us know, if you can.

punkstar congrats but oh gosh, do you really have to work? it sounds absolutely horrendous. I mean .. nice to be out of the house and doing something normal but that level of sickness and feeling so ill, and it will take it out of you for a few days :(

Hope you have a lovley day mrsb, sounds really nice.

I'm not too bad atm, glad to have nearly finished painting. Quieter day except for visit to the dentist to check what state my teeth are in after so long being unable to brush them Blush. It'll be a busy weekend with someone replacing the radiators so I'm glad to get a quiet day now.

Hope everyone's not too bad today

petitlapin1 · 13/03/2014 08:45

Morning puke patrol.
Poor pick, hope you get some fluids today.
Punk a whole day at work! Wow... Sucks about it making you so ill though. You must try not to overdo it (voice of overdoing it experience...)

Glad your days are looking good meerka and mrsb.

I showered this morning before waiting for the morning vomit first. What a mistake, bile all over the shower! Eww!

livingzuid · 13/03/2014 08:58

Sorry cann't post much waiting for psychiatrist but pick I hope you are on a drip by now. If not can you call the hospital and ask for advice?

livingzuid · 13/03/2014 08:59
livingzuid · 13/03/2014 09:10

Bad English Blush 'for' not 'at'! Makes it sound like I'm about to attack you!

PunkStar · 13/03/2014 09:46

That made me chuckle living

I'm my own worst enemy, financially I don't have to work but professionally I have a few things to get done before mat leave really. However have admitted that consecutive days are not gonna happen so going to rearrange my April plans.
Just very frustrated :-(

MrsB
Your plans sound lovely. I'm a bit crappy at hair designs, although my cousin taught me how to do fishtail plaits t'other week which pleased me no end.

Meerka
Glad things have eased a bit. sounds like you are still pretty busy on the home improvement front.
We have some ceilings and walls that are just plaster but I think we've got so used to them that we don't even think about addressing it!

Is glorious weather up North, in fact it's a bit odd.

starrynight123 · 13/03/2014 10:02

Well done punk!! Everyone seems to have tackled big things this week and had some wonderful successes! So happy for everyone!

I did the inevitable yesterday: had a good day and overdid it - thought I'd get a start on the packing before we leave our flat. Most of our things are going into storage, and some stuff will come with us to my mum's. Really enjoyed chucking stuff out while listening to podcasts (yay for In Our Time!) but was completely shattered by mid-afternoon :-/

Have a Dr's apt today... a long 3.5mile round-trip walk this afternoon. But, the sun is shining, I have my medication and I know I have the best cheerleaders in the world here on this thread :-) Bit more nervous than usual because I'll be going alone, dh will walk over to meet me half way on my way back home (he can't get the time off work) :-/ Anxious.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 13/03/2014 10:12

Mrsb have you been watching 'Hair' that hair design competition? it's mind boggling what they do with hair. loved the plaiting/braiding part. Have you seen Snow White & the huntsman? love her hair with the fairytale plaits; I can do a bit of a French plait in dd's hair, would love to do them better but she hates me practising. didn't help I got a jewellery charm stuck in her hair at swimming

Pickofthepops · 13/03/2014 10:17

You're all so kind. Been phone triaged by GP here. The norm to get a same day appt. so in at 11 and he said will give me other meds gladly but will refer me up to get on a drip. Thank for for my little sis as the school run today was grim. I have a drop of water and it bounces. Some blood but not coffee grounds by any means yet.

One of these days I'll respond to your posts too I promise. This HG makes me incapable and using a phone adds to sickness. I need an iPad.

LucindaE · 13/03/2014 10:19

Pickofthepops I'm really shocked they let you go overnight - it sounds like you were really ill last night - as you say, things can go downhill fast - you poor thing, constant bile vomits and those dreadful headaches are usually a sure sign if you don't have the magic sticks. I do hope you're getting IV now?
Punkstar Well odne on going to work, though Mother Hen thinks you weren't up to it - ih dear Envy that's green in the special meaning on this thread, not envy about being sick all over yourself on the way home.

Starry
I love chucking stuff out!! It's very cathartic.
3.5 miles is impressive....take your time. You will be great, the shining sun always helps.

LucindaE · 13/03/2014 10:21

Pickofthepops Cross posted, thank goodness you'll be getting some IV and new meds. Really feel for you, hugs.
Starry I hope managing OK?

ChaffinchOfDoom · 13/03/2014 10:22

cathartic - comes from the greek katharsis 'purging cleansing'

posh word for puking! Grin

Pickofthepops · 13/03/2014 10:25

Main prob is I called GP and took down out of Hours numbers but was fuddled and thought they were not for overnight. So dialled 111. Sister who lives near had HG last year and said she had doc out with ketone sticks during night. Dh was out for count and no help. Need to change that. Am going to ask GP about out of hours as not clear at all.

mrsb87 · 13/03/2014 10:28

Yes chaffinch I have been watching Hair! Although it does frighten me when they do cutting. From a hairdresser's POV I'm also not sure how I feel about them promoting unqualified stylists. But I do enjoy watching for the entertainment value.

Good luck pickofthepops, thank goodness they are finally doing something for you, I too am surprised they left you overnight. I was straight in when I was vomming bile and not keeping sips of water down!

Picked up my prescription of ondansetron yesterday and the doc has given me a measly 10 tablets....great that'll last me a grand total of 5 days Hmm thanks doc!

mrsb87 · 13/03/2014 10:30

pickofthepops the OOH doctors are there any time your surgery isn't open, eg overnight, weekends and bank holidays.

livingzuid · 13/03/2014 11:45

pick next time I think just ask for an ambulance. It is what it's there for and it's not like you just stubbed your toe and are wasting time. Hitting your head could mean concussion and when with the baby and hg you can't be too careful. The 999 operators for ambulance aren't supposed to make those sorts of decisions I thought? I recall a lot of controversy a while ago because an operator was giving out wrong instructions.

Maybe discuss what to do in an emergency with your GP. And buy a foghorn for waking DP up? Mine sleeps like the dead too :)

mrsb that sounds like such a lovely day. Wedding hair is fab. I want to get married again just to get all dressed up and have hair and makeup done! I looked in despair at my hair today and wish I had a friend who was a hairdresser to advise me what to do. I dyed it red myself a few weeks ago as the greys were depressing me, and I didn't realise quite how different hair dye takes during pregnancy! Let's just say it was really quite bright hehehe. And why did they give you such a small amount? I get one month at a time Confused

petit I had my first 'accident' yesterday. Sneezed and then thought oh bugger...DH was in hysterics the bastard. Might try and find some Tena lady soon!

meerka you have just shamed me into getting an appointment. Am convinced I have yet another cavity after this whole not being able to brush/floss. I hope it all goes well and such a relief for you that the work is nearing completion.

punk great news on the work and definitely worth spreading out the workload if you can. Does it affect maternity pay etc by doing that? With the interview on Tuesday and then also interviewing for a trustee position yesterday, I am fooked. I am now proudly in my first trustee position for a small international charity working on child protection standards which I am really looking forward to. And a trip to London next month for my first meeting!

starry I so hate it when that happens. You have a bit of a window of opportunity and then overdo it. Still, how fun to be moving. We have estate agents coming round in the next couple of weeks and I have told DH under no circumstances do I want to be living here after July so he has to make a plan Grin It will be so nice for you to have some space and enjoy your new home. What sort of place are you moving to?

Managed to battle against another increase of lithium. Every time they up my dosage it gives me the worst migranes for two days or so. But all levels looking good. Find out about the protein test and Rhesus tests tomorrow. Really really hope I don't end up with pre eclampsia!

Well today the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day in Rotterdam. I got myself two new tops to wear with leggings from H&M and had a mooch for some baby stuff but didn't see anything I liked much. Me and the dog had a nice walk and now I'm enjoying an icy tonic water. Apparently the weather will be crap again by the weekend so trying to enjoy it whilst we can.

Pregnancy yoga class this evening for the first time, and it is the partner class so DH has to come and learn how to breath with me! I'm so tired today and feeling rather sick again so I am hoping I don't have to disappear to retch halfway to the class. It's the only antenatal sort of thing we are doing aside from looking round the maternity unit next month so fingers crossed it does all we need big believer in less is more, particularly if talk of pain is involved

lucinda and everyone else, hope you are enjoying today.

livingzuid · 13/03/2014 11:51

Oh and chaffinch I will be the most disappointing mother. I can just about manage a ponytail, can't do arts and crafts and coming up with ideas for fancy dress leaves me cold. Hope that there is not any sewing of Nativity outfits required! Have always wanted to learn how to do a French plait. DH tried on my hair and failed miserably so that idea of him doing it didn't work out.

I was fascinated by Hair as a show, I really enjoyed it. There is this new show on MTV which is Beauty School Drop Outs where they have hairdressers and makeup artists from TOWIE's poor cousin on doing dreadful things in the name of fashion and beauty. You know when you look at how a hairdresser does their own hair before you let them near yours with scissors? I'm just not sure who their clientele would be! It is like Geordie Shore and the Valleys all rolled into one. DH's best friend is convinced all girls in Newcastle are like the ones from Geordie Shore. What an advert for our country to mainland Europe's youth!

Sorry, ramble over. I am going for a zzzz :)

PunkStar · 13/03/2014 12:34

Pops
Is confusing. Here it's the 111 service that book you an appointment at the OOH GP (once they've followed their flow chart) or they will ring an ambulance or say wait and ring your own GP.
I don't think it's the best and I don't believe they trialled it properly before rolling it out nationwide. They are not medically trained.
I'm hoping you are on a ward now having an IV attached.....

Good job I'm having another boy as I too would be a creative hair fail.

Living
Ooooo preggo yoga class! Sounds good. I may face a yoga DVD. Not today though, maybe tomorrow.
The only mat money I get is maternity allowance from the government for 39 weeks, still I honestly didn't expect to get anything so this is über. No sick pay, no holiday pay....hmmmm why am I self employed??
Anyway, work sorted....one day per week until 38 weeks. Is the only way I can manage it.

Eeeee I've never watched Geordie Shore, is it worth a view? I hate TOWIE but may feel regional love for the Geordies?? Haddaway man!

Hehe Doom
I aspire to posh puking....am stupidly noisy like Exorcist child but without head spinning. My brother tells me he is similarly a noisy puker so shall blame it on the parentals.

Lucinda
Hope you are well and staying migraine free. Thank you for looking after us :-)
