I'm getting concerned about my bump, it just seems small and just looks like a big overweight flabby belly!!! What's everyone else's like? It's not hard either still soft and podgy!!!

I am pg with number 3 and that sounds normal to me. I was still in normal clothes and wasn't noticably pg at 20 weeks.

PuppyMummy · 12/01/2014 10:39

I am pg with number1. also 20 weeks. its quite a good bump but could be hidden under a big jumper. still quite squishy mainly. did u hav a midwife apt around 16 weeks? at mine she said it was as it should be.

I wouldn't worry too much, everyone is different. I hav a friend who is around the same ammount of weeks, her bump is a bit smaller than mine...

McFox · 12/01/2014 10:52

I'm 19 weeks and have a definite bump, but it's still quite squishy -it seems to get firmer in the evening though (or is it my imagination?!).

LoudAndLarge · 12/01/2014 10:54

I'm also 20 weeks, mine is squishy to and just looks flabby. It definitely gets harder in the evening tho.

livingzuid · 12/01/2014 10:54

I just got mine measured at 19 weeks at my appt on Friday - it is 18 cms. I think I just look fat but everyone assures me I am growing Grin

I also think I deflate particularly in my upper belly? Sometimes I am so bloated I look huge and then other times it just looks a bit deflated! But my lower abdomen is very firm.

mixi82 · 12/01/2014 11:48

I'm only 13wks+4 but I have an ickle bump and yes, looks bigger and quite significantly harder in the evenings! Maybe it's water build up or food settling? Who knows but it's nice to read others are similar. I'm completely different to my mum apparently, she always looked small during all of her pregnancies but she says I'm quite big and "pear shaped" lol. I blame DP for his large round head, our baby must be the same!

wispaxmas · 12/01/2014 11:58

I'm 19+4, my husband told me yesterday that I was definitely showing, and not just in a looking fat kind of way Blush

Thing is, I was overweight to begin with (though not obese) and already had a bit of a belly. What has happened is that the bump has pushed the fat upwards or so it seems, so I have my flabby belly above the belly button, but below the belly button is firm baby bump. It's quite noticeable where it ends at the pelvis, though!

Penguinita · 12/01/2014 14:34

I'm exactly the same OP. I'm 20 weeks and went to pregnancy yoga for the first time this week, felt like a fraud as I was the only one without a bump! Glad to know I'm not the only person feeling like that. On the plus side we can wear our normal clothes for a bit longer (with the help of elastic and bump bands) Smile

chestnutmare · 12/01/2014 14:42

I'm 18 weeks now and wispaxmas your bump sounds exactly like mine! Also it is definitely firmer and more obvious later in the evenings!

ChairOfTheBored · 12/01/2014 15:37

Don't worry too much. At 20 weeks I just looked a bit podgy and was still in normal clothes.

Am now 38+4 and mahoosive and scarcely fit in anything. I blame DH entirely for this as he spent too long saying "you're not very big". This is me being rational and not a pregnant grump.

Sussex31 · 12/01/2014 16:56

I'm getting on for 18 weeks and my bump is as wispa and chestnut. I wonder at what point it will all join up? I hope it will!

SaucyJack · 12/01/2014 17:01

I had the upper half "muffin top" too around 20 weeks.

Not sure exactly what point it all smoothed outwards- but it did and it's perfectly round now.

SicknSpan · 12/01/2014 17:06

I'm 20+2 and my bump is like Wispa and chestnut's - just the other way round. Flabby and wobbly (like normal sadly!) below the belly button just a bit firmer inside, and hard and rounded above! V strange. Also have a stupid waistline that won't go even when I'm full term if anything like when I was on with ds1 and ds2- looks so silly!

SicknSpan · 12/01/2014 17:13

Not suggesting that your tums are flabby and wobbly ladies, just that mine was hard above not below! Sorry Blush

Expectingtwins1975 · 12/01/2014 18:47

I have a similar problem wispa and chestnut - only 15+2 but with twins and feel massive - but worst of all is that top half of belly (above belly button) is bigger than bottom half - looks weird ... Hoping it sorts itself out at some point

RaRa1988 · 12/01/2014 20:40

I'm nearly 19 weeks and don't have much of a bump either - you can only really tell if I'm in my underwear or a particularly tight top. It's pretty hard I think, but I had strong ab muscles anyway so maybe that's why? There's not much though - I'd expected to be bigger at this point too (but kinda glad I'm not!)

IAmTheOneWhoKnocks · 12/01/2014 20:47

17 weeks here with DC2 and I look obviously pregnant. I think I had a big bump at 20 weeks with first baby as well. All the women in my family have had large bumps though so I'm just following suit.

We'll all have huge bumps soon and be sick of them in no time!

chestnutmare · 12/01/2014 21:07

Ha ha that's true IAmTheOneWhoKnocks! I'm sure they'll get bigger soon enough!

It's just weird how different everyone is. I met a friend for lunch yesterday and she's just 14 weeks, and she has quite a considerable bump already! Although she's very slim so I guess that might explain it? Mine's still hiding under my flabby tummy!

ClearlyMoo · 13/01/2014 22:55

Snap! Except I'm 23 weeks and not in normal clothes. Bump is all firm in muffin top area, belly is saggy below. I want a nice bump, but I'll settle for a healthy baby, seeing mw tomorrow. Will ask if this is normal.

Firsttimemumtobe12 · 13/01/2014 23:35

I'm 34 weeks and I could hide my bump fairly easily with a jumper even now! I think it depends on your body shape, age and whether it's your first baby. I've always been quite slim and I'm all baby. my partner and our family all say that I don't look pregnant if they look at me from the back. Midwife says I'm measuring fine but compared to others I've got like half the bump. God knows how that works out!

I wouldn't worry about it though, as long as midwife isn't worried :)

Mummyk1982 · 14/01/2014 07:35

I looked like is eaten too much for dinner at 20 weeks- though most ppl knew I was pregnant so all commented on my cute bump. I'm now 30+6, my mum always says I'm huge, other people say my bump is neat and petite- everyone has a different opinion! I think my bump is fairly neat and maybe smaller than I expected, but it measures just perfect and I'm sure it'll keep growing!! I've forgotten what it's like to have a flat stomach :-)

ShannonBP · 02/01/2019 01:24

So I’m 20 weeks on Thursday and was told by my midwife to expect to be very large my belly looks like how some people’s do at 7-8 months and is very firm sleeping? Can’t remember what that’s like 😂 can feel the baby move around a lot and can feel it from the outside the last couple of weeks but can’t quite see it with the naked eye this is my first baby and I’m 19 in March I’ve use bio oil religiously but does anyone have any non greasy products to recommend for stretch marks? Xo

SuzieBishop · 03/01/2019 12:29

This is my 2nd preganancy and I'm feeling the same - I'm 20 weeks also and my husband caught me looking in the mirror. I asked him if he thought I was big and he just looked at me surprised. Apparently I am but I just don't feel it!!!!

Springmummy19 · 03/01/2019 12:35

FTM and I'm 24 +4. Up until about 19 weeks I just looked really bloated most of the time and I also noticed my bump would be smaller in the morning and as the day went on and it would get slightly bigger. Now i have a much more defined bump and it was only when someone got off their seat on the tube for me on the weekend that I released that you can now tell its a pregnancy bump and not a bloated bump.

Beckyv88 · 03/01/2019 13:34

I’m almost 20 weeks, first pregnancy and still just look a bit fat/bloated rather than definitely pregnant. It is sticking out a bit and is quite firm but it’s not mega obvious especially in clothes (more in undies). I think it’s normal for first pregnancy! I’m kind of glad I haven’t had to buy maternity yet but I do have my trousers unbuttoned at work today, lol
