Anyone else waiting to go into labour?

Just that really...

I'm 40+2 today and woke with slightly wet pyjamas but nothing since. I've talked to my midwife and the labour ward and they're telling me it's most likely discharge (lovely!) but I'm ready to get going now! Also DH goes back to work tomorrow and I don't have the energy to entertain DS (2) on my own, as lovely as he is.

Anyone else getting a bit impatient?

YES I am getting very impatient. Currently 40 weeks and thoroughly fed up. Been having loads of braxton hicks but no other signs. This is also number 2 and I feel bad that I can't do the normal things with DD1. Got a sweep on friday, maybe that will get things moving, although I was hoping to avoid sweeps and go naturally before then.

nomoreminibreaks · 01/01/2014 21:13

I'd prefer to start labour naturally too -I was induced last time and it all went pear shaped so I'm really hoping I can avoid that. Had a spicy curry for tea last night and have been bouncing on my ball lots today. Might try to find that raspberry leaf tea I never got chance to use with DS1!

Yes. 40+3 with DC2. Was induced first time too - also a big mess - so really hoping things will be more straightforward this time!

RedRobin1 · 01/01/2014 22:52

39+2 and no signs yet.

Have had increased discharge and wetness same as you OP. No waters breaking, no mucous plug, no BH Hmm

I want to avoid sweeps and induction too. Hoping baby gets a move on.

katrinaxx · 02/01/2014 00:55

I was also due new years day and no signs either no plug no bh but not as eager as you ladies don't get me wrong I can't wait to meet my son but im so terrified of giving birth its all I can think about no matter how hard I try to relax I cant :(

clr2014 · 02/01/2014 01:23

Me too. 38 wks. Strong Braxton hicks this evening. Increased discharge too... Want to meet bubba ASAP... But wld like its birthday to be a bit farther from Xmas!

Stom91 · 02/01/2014 02:02

40+12 here being induced at 730am.
Can't sleep as bit scared! Though fed up too!!
DD hasn't stopped wriggling either. Obviously protesting that she doesn't want to come out lol

HoHoHopelessAtNamingBabies · 02/01/2014 07:58

Well finally some progress in the form of a show at 4am. Couldn't get back to sleep afterwards until about 6am then DD1 woke me at 6.30am which is uncharacteristically early for her.

Best of luck today Stom Thanks

missmargot · 02/01/2014 08:03

Good luck stom and hoho I hope things move quickly for you.

I am 39+5 and fed up. I had very strong Braxton Hicks on Monday and was convinced it was the start of something but no. I have a midwife appointment today and she's offered a sweep which I think I will do, then I have reflexology afterwards which should relax me if nothing else.

I couldn't sleep last night at all, I managed to doze for 4 hours at most. So restless and finding it impossible to relax.

namechanger1979 · 02/01/2014 08:05

Due on monday. This is fourth baby so i know what to expect but have had 3 false starts already... It seems to stall when i gwt in th bath for pain relief.
Good luck to everyone.

TobyLerone · 02/01/2014 09:01

Me. I'm 39+4. Thought something might be happening last night as I had some pretty painful and regular (every 10-15 mins for a few hours) contractions, and again in the night (was awake from 1am - 4am, but nothing except more or less constant backache this morning.

nomoreminibreaks · 02/01/2014 09:38

Good luck today Stom!! I'm on with the home remedies now. I'm hoping it wasn't my waters yesterday as we had sex last night to try and get things moving but no luck!

Me. 40 weeks exactly and have a midwife due sometime today for a sweep. We have tried home remedies but to no avail! This is my first so I have no idea what to expect. Trying to remain patient but it's so hard! Realistically I know I could go another 2 weeks so I need to get used waiting. Good luck all!!

LittleH78 · 02/01/2014 12:21

40+6 today - sweep booked for tomorrow. Absolutely no signs - not even any B-H....starting to wonder if this is all someone's idea of a big joke or if I've just got some kind of wriggly intestinal parasite! And raspberry leaf tea is vile!

mollysmummy1970 · 02/01/2014 16:19

I'm 40+10 and was booked into to be induced 2moro but it appears things are happening! Contractions every 6mins now, that's been from 7.30am, I'm so excited!

nomoreminibreaks · 02/01/2014 16:27

Mollysmummy that's really exciting! Hope it goes well for you! I'd say I'm jealous but I'm having a bad day with poorly DS so have been wondering how on earth I'm going to cope with two!

OP posts:
mollysmummy1970 · 02/01/2014 17:07

Yeah I can imagine! I'm wondering how I'll cope with just the one, haha!

Bkk13 · 02/01/2014 17:20

40+4 today...... And sat and cried as I'm so fed up. A few niggles but nothing definite. Booked myself some reflexology for Saturday and sweep is booked for Sunday. I know baby will come when it's ready but oh.my.god I'm uncomfortable and hating the raspberry leaf tea. Yuck!!!

RedRobin1 · 02/01/2014 17:40

Goodluck mollysmummy fx you will have a baby in your arms soon!

My bump feels very tight now and skin feels sore above pubic bone. Is that BH? Or just baby giving me more stretch marks?

Tmi alert (although at this point nothing feels like tmi)!

I have increased discharge today but it's milky consistency and leaving wet patches on knickers! Does this mean anything? I feel like I'm back in the 2ww zone back in ttc days Hmm

nomoreminibreaks · 02/01/2014 18:50

Bkk - I know how you feel. I'm pretty uncomfortable but am on the verge of getting really impatient now.

Robin - I'm having lots of niggles and BH now. Plus LOADS of discharge Blush - so much I was convinced my waters had gone yesterday. It's not pink/bloody so that means it's not a show right?

OP posts:
missmargot · 02/01/2014 18:57

I thought a show didn't have to be bloody, but I've not had one yet so could be talking rubbish.

The midwife attempted a sweep today but my cervix was closed so she doesn't think it will do much. She cheerily told me that she expects I will be still be waiting this time next week. I could have cried.

The reflexology this afternoon was lovely and relaxing so hopefully I will sleep tonight. More reflexology booked for Monday and a midwife home visit with another sweep booked for next Thursday, by which point I will be 40+5.

HoHoHopelessAtNamingBabies · 02/01/2014 19:06

No further progress since bloody show this morning although think my waters may have just gone. My ILs who are on call to come and be with DD are at the theatre tonight, so would be typical if I need to go in whilst they hotfoot it home!

TobyLerone · 02/01/2014 19:42

A show doesn't have to be bloody but it's definitely different to discharge. More jelly-like.

HoHoHopelessAtNamingBabies · 02/01/2014 19:50

Absolutely - my show with DC1 had no blood but was distinctly jelly like.

RedRobin1 · 02/01/2014 20:39

missmargot did the sweep hurt if the cervix was closed?

I have a sweep planned for next week too just hope it doesn't get to that point.

Exciting times for you hoho

My discharge has stopped now and no niggles either :(

The waiting is soooo hard!
