Anyone else waiting to go into labour?

Just that really...

I'm 40+2 today and woke with slightly wet pyjamas but nothing since. I've talked to my midwife and the labour ward and they're telling me it's most likely discharge (lovely!) but I'm ready to get going now! Also DH goes back to work tomorrow and I don't have the energy to entertain DS (2) on my own, as lovely as he is.

Anyone else getting a bit impatient?

^Hands up^ Me too, I'm 39 + 5 and I know I'm not late yet but I feel as though I am. I keep fluctuating between wanting it to start now and being scared of it happening at all. I'm constantly utterly shattered and wondering how on earth I'm going to have the energy for a successful labour!
I just want to meet my little one and skip the bit between now and then, lol. But as yet, theres no sign of anything. I've got a mw appt the week after the due date where she said she'd do a sweep, but I really want to avoid it if possible.
Good luck everybody Flowers xx

T0rtoise I had a sweep with DS1 and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just uncomfortable and, like a smear test, much easier if you can relax and keep breathing. If anyone's interested, I found the same with being induced and having my waters broken - not that bad at all.

T0rtoise the sweep I had wasn't too bad at all. My cervix wasn't open so the midwife couldn't do it properly but it must have done something as I had a show last night. It's a good chance to practise deep breathing and relaxing!

I'm getting so jealous about other people who've gone in to Labour. I'm 40+3 and the midwife is calling today to offer a sweep... But I don't know if I should. I'd love for it to happen naturally and have been on walks, had sex & spicy food but NOTHING has happened!

Is a sweep horrid? Or is it worth it?

I am 39+4 and want to meet my baby. Trying to embrace these last few days/weeks after lots of complications and not expecting to go full term....but it's very hard and the longer it goes on the more nervous I become.

Congratulations redrobin!

I fear I may have made it sound like a blissful birth - it was fantastic that I managed without more pain relief but it turns out that without the epidural I had last time, I'm a screamer! I've never screamed like it in my life. They pointed out I was wasting energy by doing it but it was just the noise that came out of me when I had a contraction - I'm still cringing thinking about it now! Blush

I had an eventful day too. Labour started rapidly and was 8cm dilated when I got I hospital. Baby turned out to be breech and had an emergency c section. All went well and I'm now cuddling my little girl Eva - 6lb 9oz and perfect in every way Smile

I was at midwife today, getting scanned on Monday as she was querying the amt of fluid around baby. I did slip downstairs last wk, bashed my coccyx and thought I wee'd myself. Now totes para, but baby still moving plenty so will monitor that carefully between now and scan. Getting induced thurs if nothing else happens and fluid levels fine. If not, I presume they'd induce me on Monday. Managed to cry in front of the midwives, always good...

Well that was exciting! Things started happening very quickly after I posted and only just made it to hospital. I'm so pleased I managed to get in the pool as I was fully dilated when they examined me when I arrived but I had the natural birth I never got with DS2. James Alexander weighed 9lb 13oz Smile

redrobin that's exciting! fingers crossed you won't be needing that sweep now but it wasn't very painful just a bit uncomfortable.

I think I've just had the start of a show so it looks like the sweep did something. I know it could still be ages before labour so trying not to get too excited but I am pleased that something is happening.

The reflexology I had yesterday really helped with my other symptoms, I felt so much lighter and just better in general. I was still up every hour last night but got straight back to sleep each time which is a big improvement.

Ooh exciting NomoreSmile hope you have a baby soon xx

Loads of BH here and have been on & off for weeks and fed up with them now. When real labour starts i probably won't be able to tell any difference until they are more strong and closer together.

Congratulations Stom!! Hope it went well and you're feeling ok?

I've been having contractions since going to bed (and having sex!) last night but I've slept too (?!). Since waking they're 30 secs long every 5 minutes so I'm thinking it might soon be time to call the labour ward, but I don't really believe it could actually be happening and don't want to scare the contractions off!
