Hello ladies.. So My husband and I have been trying for two months now and low and behold I took a test yesterday and BFP!!

I am so excited and wondered if any of you have also found out your pregnant recently?

I have so many questions in my head at the min such as what symptoms to expect, what the dr will do in my first appointment and much more..

If any of you could share your expertise I would be very grateful :o)

Congratulations Christina! What a way to start the new year!

First I'd suggest you join the antenatal board for your due date (in the 'becoming a parent' topic) so you can chat with others at the same stage.

Then be prepared for some crazy changes to your body! I was tired, nauseous and grumpy for the first tri. My boobs got huge and I craved carbs but thankfully it stopped all of a sudden at 12-weeks.

I didn't see the dr, In my area you ho straight to the midwife. Don't get too excited - she will start your notes and take your medical history, but unless you're on drugs/ related to the dad or other high risk factors it's a tick box thing. She might weigh you & take blood and send you away with lots of leaflets.

It's a wonderful, scary, fabulous time - try to relax and enjoy every moment with your growing baby and sharing this special secret with your DH Thanks

Thankyou so much for your reply.. The related to the dad part made me laugh!

I've just phoned the drs now to make an appt and they said the same as you- straight to the midwife in a couple of weeks.

I had flu like symptoms and nausea over Xmas before I took a test but thought nothing of it as DH had it too (faking if you ask me haha) I also noticed large blue veins in my boobs and nipples (sorry if tmi).. I honestly couldn't be happier and usually am a total stress head and control freak so I am determined to try to relax and enjoy every second :o)

Xxx

Aww congratulations. First job book in with midwife. Read up on what food to avoid - nhs website is pretty easy to follow. Keep everything crossed until your 12 week scan.

You'll need to list the questions you have!

MNetters are many things, but not mind-readers.

Have a browse through this forum, or read all the "pregnancy useful stuff pages"

And if you want to chat, then go over to the Antenatal Club section, where you will find all pregnancy chat threads (they're in a topic all of their own because otherwise Pregnancy would be swamped and important questions might be lost).

The August thread is here, and there's a September one too.

Congratulations!! Smile

I found out just over a week ago.. Popped into the doctors today and they have given me a pack with lots of leaflets in and given me the number to call to book midwife appointment!

Am feeling pretty lousy at the moment but everyone is different so fingers crossed you won't suffer! Xx
