Hi all - I am brand new here (this is my very first post) and have just decided to start TTC this month.
I am 29, my husband is 31... I was wondering how long it took all of you to get pregnant (if you have managed)?

If this thread is anything to go by it sounds like getting pregnant first round is the norm which is nice to know for those starting to TTC. For me it was 2 years before I carried a baby past the first trimester but I am in a very small minority

2 years then a miscarriage. We were then due to start ivf (literally, they had the drugs in for me) when I got pregnant naturally.

I do have known fertility problems though.

8 years. 2 miscarriages. 2 ivf and 2 icsi

We are now feeling lucky, but it was hell getting here. Sad

First time - me 29, DH 39, got pregnant the 2nd cycle.

This time - 33 & 43 - 4th cycle.

We've been lucky. I know friends who tried for years and ended up trying IVF - they now have twins but it was a long journey for them. I also know several people tht have miscarried. Not trying to our a downer on anything but stressing that not everyone is so lucky. But good luck, and enjoy all the 'practising'!

And yes, the 2ww is awful - one month I was so convinced I was pregnant, I would have put money on it I was so sure. Nope.

I was very lucky and fell pg first time. Had come off the pill 3 months previously and changed my diet and took vitamins, am 27 and now 36+6 with my first.
My cousin however tried for 3 years and eventually got pg through ivf. She now has a lovely 4 month old.
It really is luck and i am very aware that if we decided to go for number 2 it is likely to take a lot longer as i cant imagine being this lucky again.

10 months first time around (which ended in mc) and then another 6 months for this one (37+3). We had an appointment to start with IUI booked for three days after I got my BFP :) We're a bit older though, 37 and 41 at the moment.

No time at all. On the pill, aged 39. One stomach bug and - bang. DP reckons he has super-sperm too. Hmm yeah right, we'll see about that if we go for no.2, by which time I'll be 41!

It took us 2 months, I conceived the weekend of my 26th birthday! This surprised us as we never expected it so soon.. DH is very proud of his super swimmers.

We took a "let nature take its course" approach. The only dates I tracked were my periods (I have been irregular in the past and have a history of endometriosis), we never bothered with ovulation dates and just had sex when we fancied it. It only occurred to us that I might be pregnant when I said one day.. you know, my period should have started a week ago...

My advice is to just go with it, don't stress and enjoy the time with your DH/DP Smile

DS1: I was 22, DH was 31. Conceived first month of trying.

DS2: I was 23, DH was 32. At the time I was EBF DS1 so that probably affected things. It took 5 months to conceive DS2.

Ds 1: I was 23, one time, got pregnant,

Dd: I was 25, dh and I slept together once and I got pregnant,

Ds 2: Im now 31 and due feb, again just took one occasion.

I found counting on 10 days from the first day (I think it was the first day) of my previous period and having sex that night worked all 3 times.

Three months of trying for ds1 when I was 27.
One month of trying for ds2 when I was 30 (much to dh's disgustSmile).
Over a year of trying for dd aged 32 but she was worth the wait. DH also regretted his earlier moan about it being too quick with ds2...

Currently 14 weeks with #1. It took a little over three and a half years of TTC, including several investigative ultrasound scans, a hysterosalpingogram, a laparoscopy (which resulted in removal of one fallopian tube and a diagnosis of severe endometriosis), three months of hormone therapy, and long-protocol IVF.

We are astonishingly lucky that the first cycle of IVF worked for us, particularly given that endometriosis reduces your chances. I can't praise my surgeon/consultant enough, and am extremely grateful to the two IVF clinics who saw us through the cycle. The last three years have been very, very hard.

Oh, and DH and I are 31 now, started TTC at 27.

I hope all those currently TTC manage it more easily than we did :)

Good luck with trying - hopefully it will be easy but a good bit of advice I got was not to have a timetable - planning too far ahead, etc, just chill out
